Just wondering, which one is your favorite? I personally love "80." I love the way he describes his feelings for her. "My mental stability reaches its bitter end/And all my sense are coming unglued." I know this is about Green Day's music, but he's written songs about Adrienne on nearly all their albums, so I didn't know which thread to put it in. If a mod needs to lock/move this, that's fine.
Jimmy Strummer Posted July 2, 2010 Posted July 2, 2010 I like Last Night On Earth, because it's so unapologetic in regards to how cliche everything is that he's singing, and that's the beauty of love. You don't have to apologize for just being head-over-heels crazy in love with someone, and that's the vibe I'm getting from Billie and Adrienne's relationship. Also, LNOE used to mean something to me concerning a special someone, and it was one of the first 21CB songs I heard.

I'll always remember their anniversary because today also would have been my grandpa's 84th birthday (not that you were asking me ) I think I've got to go with Last Night On Earth. I love a lot of the songs about them....also a couple of the songs that aren't exactly the most positive, but I really like them as songs. And all the sappy songs too, haha. For some reason of all the love songs Billie's written, I like the ones about Adrienne most, but not because of that reason. Just .... idk. She brings out the best in him or something And happy anniversary to them "When I come around" I didn't know that was about her/them.....

They met I believe when they were touring in the bus as Sweet Children. She was just a girl he met on the road (during the infamous van tours) and they fell in love I believe. I don't think that song was written for her, just a groupie song. Oh haha okay. Yup, that's true. I'm not too sure if they were still Sweet Children, I think they had changed their name already, but that's the story in the big lines. Yeah, I thought it was not a song about a specific person. Don't think it's a groupie song, though.

Posted July 2, 2010 Posted July 2, 2010 I can't pick a favourite,cause every song for Addie is absolutely perfect (80,2000 light years away etc) But maybe,I should mention When it's time... because that song is absolutely beautiful and I can't believe,that Billie wrote this,when he was so young - I think he was about 18... and it's absolutely amazing how faultless song he wrote in such young age and how much love is in this song. The explanation given in that quote is very compatible with the song and I agree with it, but I think you could even say the song is about a friendship. I think When I Come Around is a song that's very open to own interpretation. I personally don't pin one of the possibilities down as 'this is the one', just see it as it could all be possible.

I do love 2000 light years away, probably because it's about the first time they meet, then feeling so distant, and I think that pretty much everybody has felt that way about someone so you can really relate to it. I also love When it's Time because it wasn't releast for so long it just seems almost private and really personal to them. There are so many great songs written about Adrienne, she really does bring out the best of Billie.

The Breakdown Posted July 2, 2010 Posted July 2, 2010 I'm going to have to go with When It's Time. It's one of those songs I genuinely wished I wrote for someone I was in love with. Last Night on Earth gets a special mention because of the musical side to it. The piano on it is beautiful. Also another mention to 2000 Light Years Away because it's lyrically inspiring and the punk vibe it has makes it really awesome as well. Edit: I nearly forgot about Redundant. It is one of my favorite songs ever.
