The Grouch is Tracy Posted August 29, 2016 Posted August 29, 2016 I thought that the song "Amanda" was about a transgender person. Kind of like "Lola". I thought some of the lyrics were. "Amanda, couldn't be a man? ". And " is this some kind of love, that only he would understand", and I thought that the lyrics "You're a different woman That's for certain I don't know a thing about" , and the playing with your mind bit were also alluding to this. Apparently i am very wrong. 😬 3 Quote

People literally hear what they want to hear. LOL. Great stuff. 4 hours ago, Whatsername_123 said: From Macy's Day parade: ''With a credit report for duty call'' = with a credit report for Judy Carr SERIOUSLY?!?! LOL!!! Another classic one. So you thought the song was about a credit report for a jewish philanthropist??? This thread is a coffee table book. I've said it a million times and I'm saying it again. It's pure laughter. 2 Quote
A Celebrity Martyr Posted August 29, 2016 Posted August 29, 2016 I always thought that in Homecoming Billie says 'now we're back in the barrio, but to you and me, all shit goes down' 1 Quote

Hermione Posted August 30, 2016 Posted August 30, 2016 I was listening to Peacemaker with my nephew on Saturday evening (one of his favourites, he requested to listen to it three times before bed). He totally thought "at the end of the serenade" was "at the end of the Saturday". Went with it because it was so fitting 2 Quote

I sometimes do that too!! I actually did think it was 'fucking' the first few times I heard the song until I read the lyric book and realised it was flunkie And it's been nearly three weeks and I'm still singing 'I got my vol au vent' instead of 'I got my photobomb' during Bang Bang 2 Quote
Billie Hoe Posted August 30, 2016 Posted August 30, 2016 In Jesus of Suburbia I always thought he sang "While the moms and brats are away" as opposed to "Brads"... I imagined Jesus being alone while his mother and his siblings were away I guess "Brads" refers to step-fathers? Also in Bang Bang I thought until today that he sang "the leading man in my own private drama" instead of "little man"... was quite surprised today when I watched the lyric video again and saw it was "little"... I feel like "leading" makes more sense 1 Quote

Dunno how that's their business anyway. I kinda get blocking re-uploaded music videos but if GREEN DAY uploads their OWN video, why tf do they block it? I swear this institution is the biggest bag of cunts in Germany right after the AfD and a pain in everyone's ass. They even wanted to charge kindergartens for playing music... just to make clear how much they suck. Sorry for thar rant, let's go back on topic 2 Quote
Maid Meringue Posted August 31, 2016 Posted August 31, 2016 Speaking of Bang Bang, my bf thought the words were "boulevard of memories". I still sing "I am alive just like anybody else" Quote
unextraordinarygirl Posted August 31, 2016 Posted August 31, 2016 If there hadn't been a lyric video for Bang Bang I would've misheard or not understood a lot of the lyrics. Quote
That Dude Posted August 31, 2016 Posted August 31, 2016 I've tried and tried but I cannot hear "war" in the "private holy war" part of BANG BANG. All I hear is "HO - LY" and then "Oh baby, baby this is viva vendetta: Also, 1039 and Kerplunk.....I just don't know the words to all the songs. It's my greatest shame as a fan. Those albums I don't recognize the songs by their titles either. But from Dookie onward I know every word, every note, every drum beat. So I'm good. 1 Quote

Maid Meringue Posted August 31, 2016 Posted August 31, 2016 i thought maybe the chorus said "war" but not billie on lead vox. like it was left out intentionally. 2 Quote

ZSebs Posted August 31, 2016 Posted August 31, 2016 I guess this counts since it is technically a Green Day song When I first heard Ordinary World from the recordings on YouTube, I thought he was saying "Maybe I don't have much, but this world we have is more than enough." And then later I thought it was "but ordinary is more than enough." I liked both of those lines more than what they turned out to be. Quote
