mallorymaloney Posted June 25, 2010 Posted June 25, 2010 Hopefully this isn't already widely known, but if it is, mods feel free to lock/members feel free to spam to your heart's content. ((LOL, as if any of you needed my permission to do either.)) Seriously, though, I just discovered this random Green Day tribute album on CharityTunes.Com, and I was actually blown away by how beautiful it sounds! It's entitled String Tribute To Green Day, and it's by a group of artists known simply as the String Tribute Players. Check out some of the short previews by clicking here, and if you like the sounds of any of the tracks even remotely, then I strongly suggest purchasing 'em, because least ten percent of the download price goes to charity --- As indicated by the site's domain --- So you can feel good about needlessly spending your cash, haha. I just purchased three tracks, myself! They're the ones I personally found the most beautiful: Brain Stew, When I Come Around, and Holiday.
germackpaccone Posted June 25, 2010 Posted June 25, 2010 This should go in other bands discussion Or is it not a tribute band? asdfghjkl; whatever idk.
CarolineGilman Posted June 25, 2010 Posted June 25, 2010 wow those are really pretty! i think i might buy a few. especially since some of the profits go to charity!
Hermione Posted June 26, 2010 Posted June 26, 2010 I'd never heard this before, and I like it . It never ceases to amaze me how their songs can work in such a totally different genre of music. Lovely stuff.
spark in the night Posted June 26, 2010 Posted June 26, 2010 why listen to a tribute band when the original is still alive and kickin'? never liked tribute bands. they seem so cheap and karaoke bar-ish just write your own music
Jacob. Posted June 26, 2010 Posted June 26, 2010 You can listen to some of the tracks for free on Youtube here.
Sharmellow Posted June 26, 2010 Posted June 26, 2010 I almost bought this a few months ago. Instead, I went with Vitamin String Quartet. I love this kind of genre, very soothing. Helps me study actually.
BIBARAGURORIA Posted June 26, 2010 Posted June 26, 2010 why listen to a tribute band when the original is still alive and kickin'? never liked tribute bands. they seem so cheap and karaoke bar-ish just write your own music It's not a tribute band, per se. It seems to just be a string quartet who's covering GD songs for charity.
Tubbie Head Posted June 26, 2010 Posted June 26, 2010 I actually love this Thanks for sharing I almost bought this a few months ago. Instead, I went with Vitamin String Quartet. I love this kind of genre, very soothing. Helps me study actually. same here hahah.. but I haven't bought anything like this, never found it in stores I love When I come Around
Hermione Posted June 26, 2010 Posted June 26, 2010 Why is there always hostility towards tribute bands on here? They enable people to hear their favourite band's music live who might never get the chance to otherwise, and they get to have fun playing the music they enjoy. Everyone's a winner! But yeah this isn't a tribute band in any way shape or form
Marlee Posted June 26, 2010 Posted June 26, 2010 i guess if you like that kind of music, then you'd love this. My teachers use the Vitamin String Quartet when we study sometimes
Velocity Posted June 26, 2010 Posted June 26, 2010 I've seen this CD several times in stores before, but I never actually thought of buying it. I might check it out, since several people think it's good. I already have the Vitamin String Quartet tributes and they're really great, so I might like this.
lizletterbomb Posted June 26, 2010 Posted June 26, 2010 string quartet? eh, not my type of thing. it's for a good cause though, i may try it XD
Alllllli. Posted June 27, 2010 Posted June 27, 2010 This is awesome, haha, I really like it! Some of the songs are a bit iffy, but some of them are really good!
cherrybomb! Posted June 30, 2010 Posted June 30, 2010 Awesome, i really like it, it's different. thanks for sharing
oscar is a nimrod Posted June 30, 2010 Posted June 30, 2010 I didn't find it that great to be honest. at least it is going to a good cause eh. i personally think that the american idiot cast is a bit better.
Holly Posted July 1, 2010 Posted July 1, 2010 I love hearing songs covered in totally different genres, I think in the past I've heard better arrangements of Green Day songs on strings but I have no idea where because it was probably a few years ago. These are really cool though
kerplunk_chick Posted July 1, 2010 Posted July 1, 2010 i love the vitamin string quartet's cover of mr. brightside.
