kerplunk_chick Posted June 23, 2010 Posted June 23, 2010 I have close to zero luck whatsoever when it comes to contests and whatnot. I've entered plenty of contests, but winning them, not so much. So what Green Day contests have you entered? Have you won any of them? Green Day + NRDC held a contest in which you made an environmental video response to Billie Joe's video and the winners received a pair of Tre's drumsticks that he used on the 21stCB tour. That's the only contest I've ever won. Those drumsticks are treated like gold.
04rebhop Posted June 23, 2010 Posted June 23, 2010 I won a contest that the NEC/LG Arena did for the Birmingham show. They had two pairs of tickets for standing on the first night of the shows. I entered despite allready having tickets, as i wanted my friend to come. You had to show how much you loved Green Day, so i painted my face Green and took a picture of myself with all my Green Day merch. I won, but didn't get the tickets, because they contacted me later than they said they were going to, at what time i was already at the show. Oh well at least i won

Maddy. Posted June 23, 2010 Posted June 23, 2010 Referring to the thread title, I think you need to enter a competition to win anything. But that could just be me. As for me, I don't enter in stuff like this. I can't be arsed.
ChelseaWhatsername Posted June 23, 2010 Posted June 23, 2010 I tried entering the art contest GDA had not too long ago. Procrastination sucks; I never even finished the picture. But looking at some of the entries, I never had a chance anyway.

Daughter.of.Rage.and.Love Posted June 23, 2010 Posted June 23, 2010 Not an official one...only the one time some dude from here had this contest where you had to guess how many shows he'd been too, I co-won that. I've entered a boatload of contests, though. Every contest I hear about, I enter.
CarolineGilman Posted June 23, 2010 Posted June 23, 2010 i entered one to win a dookie vinyl but didn't win. i also entered the green day rock band one but didn't win that either. I have entered some others but i can't remember them all
Jacob. Posted June 23, 2010 Posted June 23, 2010 I entered the GDA contest, but it was never put up with the rest of the entries. And i'm positive I emailed it to the right email, so I dont know. But looking at some of those, I probably never had a chance to begin with. I also did the contest on Twitter to win a signed copy of Green Day: Rock Band and signed guitar. I twetted a shit load of tweets, but sone dude who didn't even tweet nearly as much as me won. Afterword, I deleted all the tweets, and that took at least 10 minutes, if not more.
Smoothed Out Posted June 23, 2010 Posted June 23, 2010 I've never won anything But entered quite a few like that IC coffee table book. Goddamit I want the results already!
LouLou Posted June 23, 2010 Posted June 23, 2010 I enter all the big contests, but have never won anything and don't expect to win, but they are still fun to enter into.

Vaso.Of.Suburbia Posted June 23, 2010 Posted June 23, 2010 i had won some green day badges once, when a music magazine had held a contest and the winner would be the one who knew the name of green day's new cd (it was back in april of 2009)... also, the biggest record store in my city had held a contest like "customer of the month" (the person who had bought the most cds than anyone else would win), and the winner could get any cd he'd like for free..... and i was the winner... i choose nimrod x)
kerplunk_chick Posted June 23, 2010 Author Posted June 23, 2010 I enter all the big contests, but have never won anything and don't expect to win, but they are still fun to enter into. i feel the same way. every time i enter a contest, i try not to get my hopes up. i end up getting them up anyways (that sounds bad) but i always have fun with the contest even when i don't win. i had won some green day badges once, when a music magazine had held a contest and the winner would be the one who knew the name of green day's new cd (it was back in april of 2009)... also, the biggest record store in my city had held a contest like "customer of the month" (the person who had bought the most cds than anyone else would win), and the winner could get any cd he'd like for free..... and i was the winner... i choose nimrod x) good choice

Mrs. Nobody Posted June 23, 2010 Posted June 23, 2010 Only early entry. Didn't win that Oh and there was thing music site where you could win a shitload of vinyls incl. green day ones. Didn't win that I'm definitely going to participate in more though, half of the time I just forget to answer/apply etc xD
Sister of Grace Posted June 23, 2010 Posted June 23, 2010 I entered a contest where you could win tickets to go see the big screen showings of Bullet In A Bible here in Sweden and I won was a really great night!
Kryssi. Posted June 23, 2010 Posted June 23, 2010 I entered about 4/5 sound check comps last UK tour and I didn't win any of them. I thought I'd stand a good enough chance... Idiot Club has is favourites. I've never won anything related to GD.
Katarina. Posted June 23, 2010 Posted June 23, 2010 I've never won anything that's related to Green Day. I do enter contests when I get the chance to, too bad I can't most of the time cause they're for US only and for people over 18. That's what I like about GDA/GDC, it's for people all over the world. I entered the GDRB contest, but didn't win. There were so many awesome entries so I had no chance anyway
ANJI Posted June 23, 2010 Posted June 23, 2010 I did enter the Rockband prizes on twitter just recently but didnt win....i've never won anything GD related....
GreenDayGeek33 Posted June 23, 2010 Posted June 23, 2010 I try to enter any Green Day contest that comes out. I've only won one so far but it was the most meaningful to me. It was a contest in which you have to make a Green Day mash up and promote it so it stays on the leaderboards, i don't know if you guys remember that one. I worked really hard at trying to stay on the leaderboards and making sure my mash up sounded really good and all the hard work payed off i won a complete drumset (the exact model Tre Cool uses on the 21st CB tour), drumsticks used in the recording of 21st CB, an autographed snare drum head signed by all the boys along with an adeline skull spraypainted on it, and a Billie Joe signature guitar with all the boys autographs on it. But I think the best part about winning the contest and the most meaningful was the fact that Green Day themselves actually sat down, listened to all the mash ups and picked mine out of all of them. The reason i know they judged it themselves is cause out of curiosity i asked the lady in charge of the contest.

SetOnOverdrive Posted June 23, 2010 Posted June 23, 2010 I bought a Green Day from a Tee Shirt from a website before and it automaitcally entered me into a Green Day competition to win a couple of tee's. I didn't even know I was entered until they emailed me to say i'd won. I was like "Wow, AWESOME!" xD
