Share a Green Day - related story

[Fuzz]

We want to hear some Green Day related stories, something memorable that you'd like to share. It should be something that happened to you and some how involves Green Day or their music.

Keep it brief. We will be reading these during the show, so we don't want to bore everyone by reading an essay. Make it only as long as you need to share the story.

If you've met the band, or been pulled up on stage, or just some personal experience that somehow relates to the band (i.e. losing virginity while listening to Green Day). You get the idea. We'll be choosing an entry each week to read on the show. We'll pick the first one tomorrow night.

The first time I listened to Green Day was in my friends car when we were 10, American Idiot was playing and my friend asked her Dad what a faggot was. He freaked out. It was brilliant.

At the Foxboro Hot Tubs show in austin, I got to meet Trè. He was just hanging out at the bar and I got him to sign my iPod and popped my back when he gave me a hug.

Well, I didn't lose my virginity to Green Day. However, one of the most awesome moments of my life was at the show in Chicago. The band was playing "Before the Lobotomy" and they were at the point where Billie sings "Remember to learn to forget," and the pointed the mic to the stage and the whole crowd went "WHISKEY SHOTS AND CHEAP CIGARETTES." And it was really kick-ass. But yeah. I've never met them or been on stage or anything. But I do plan on getting on stage at Lollapalooza wearing a taco suit

I met this guy at school....and he heard i was a huge Green Day fan..he looked at me and said "Y'know my mom dated the drummer dude from Green Day when they were in high school." I looked at the guy and said "you are my HERO" and he looked at me like an idiot but i didn't really care. lol

Hmm, let's see... some people get introduced to marijuana through friends, or just being at the wrong place at the wrong time. (Or the right place at the right time, depending on your perspective.) I became introduced to the world of marijuana (or at least the smell of it) through a Green Day show.

I'll pick one. Okay, at the 2nd Birmingham show in the UK last year, I was hanging out with Beth inside the arena, Prima Donna came on and Beth decided to go grab a drink, feeling thirsty I went along to grab one, too. When we got into the area with merch booths and shit, out came this guy from nowhere wearing a red Luchador mask, and Beth was like "we gotta get you and this guy to have a photo together," then this burly guy comes and its like DON'T APPROACH HIM!" and shit, turns out it was Tre Cool. Everybody else was totally oblivious and we both caught him staring at us during Prima Donna's act while he was in the crowd.

I had to reduce my 6 page blog recap to one paragraph. That was hard, lol.

Right before my first Green Day show back in August, I was phoned by Verizon telling me that I had won sound check passes along with 2 extra tickets I had received from them. I was with Justin when he got pulled up on stage, and I able to hang out at the very front of the pit the entire night. I still have my poster and pass hanging up on my wall. And even though I am going to see RUSH this august, I don’t think anything will ever top that night. Ever.

Well when I first got into GD a year ago after seeing the know your enemy vid for the first time, I couldn't decide what to do about tickets to go see them. I was never into music before and was always terrified of being shown up at gigs for not being a proper fan. So I waited and waited and waited until finall plucking up the courage to ask my dad to get me a ticket for Manchester. He said yes straight away and went to order them, only to tell me I was too late. I was devestated and cried all night. A couple of weeks later I come into my bedroom to see a piece of paper saying 2 tickets Green Day Birmingham LG arena. my dad had done all he could to get the last tickets going for birmingham, one row from the back. That was the best night of my life and I owe it all to my dad for realising just how much GD mean to me

Last year on July 18th, when Green Day was in my hometown of Montreal (shoutouuuuuuuuuuuuut) I got there extremely early in hopes of catching a glimpse of the guys before the show. I was pulling up beside the Bell centre and I saw these huge tour buses, and I'm like no fucking way, it can't be them, so I waited in the car, since there was no way of manouvering the buses, then I see a whole bunch of people getting off of one bus and I'm like holy shit wouldn't it be sick if the guys got off, haha, wishful thinking... NOT! There goes Billie Joe, just casually walking off his bus (they all had their own seperate buses) and I START FREAKING THE SHIT OUT, did you ever realise how fucking complicated seat belts are when you're in a hurry?! So finally, i run to his bus, but unfortunately I missed him, he was already in the building... So I'm standing there, not even noticing the other tour bus that just pulled up beside me, and there come Mike just casually strolling by me, literally 2 feet away, if i had been smart enough to reach out, I could have touched him. I also didn't even think to take a picture because I was so starstruck, but I screamed out a "HI, can I get a picture?!" He looked straight at me and said, "No sorry, I gotta get inside" with a smile, but holy shit it was the best moment of my life... I couldn't move for like 10 minutes after that. So there we go, that's my Green Day related experience; oh yea, and by the way, the show was no doubt the best night of my life!! Now, only 68 days til they're back here in MTL. ♥♥ --Sabrina

I caught Billie Joe when he was coming out of the St. James theater and asked him to sign my playbill, which he kindly did as he was being rushed in the car by security. Then I saw a crowd of people over by Mike, and tried to get his autograph, but he got shoved in the car as well. I was standing by his side of the car when he rolled the window down and I asked him if he could sign my playbill really quickly. "I would but I don't wanna get my hand ripped off," he joked, as the car was about ready to leave. "Well can I have a high five then?" I asked. He smiled and said "Yeah!" and stuck his hand out of the moving vehicle. I high fived Mike as the truck was driving away from the St. James. I also met the whole band on the first night of previews and on opening night of 'American Idiot.' They were all extremely nice each time I met them. On a side note- at opening night, Billie Joe took my purple sharpie to sign autographs with and got into the truck with it. So he has my purple sharpie I'm going to the soundcheck and show on August 14th at PNC and I'm hoping to have more amazing Green Day experiences then!

Hunter and I went up to New York to see the American Idiot musical, it was the same weekend of the Foxboro Hot Tubs show. I almost couldn't go because I had gallbladder surgery a week before. I luckily got doctors permission to travel just in time. (My doctor is awesome!) We spent the whole day in line with a bunch of great fans. And during the show we even gave The Rev a pink rosary to wear. And we got high fives from Mike. It was one of the best days I've ever had.

So about 4 years ago I was in the process of getting my friend Nushin into Green Day. She has very religious parents so they obviously weren't too terribly thrilled. So I let her borrow International Superhits and if you guys recall the picture when you take the CD out is Billie Joe in a dress holding it up exposing his boxers. She left the CD case laying open one day with the CD in her player when she went to school. Her mother walked in her room and saw it. She was greeted when she got home with the question "Why are you being given Green Day pornography?" xD cracks me up everytime I think about it!

Oh I have a Memorable Green Day Moment!

So it's the Musical Sound Check (March 23rd) and Green Day's there! So I enter, leave,etc and Green Day comes out, and doesn't take any pictures or autographs(only MIke, but a few people). So then, they enter a restaurant ( Sardi's to be exact), where me and a few other Green Day fanatics waited outside for almost two hours before they got out!! They came out and they got bombarded by fans ( mostly Billie Joe, as Tre and Mike where ahead of him) and he took alot of pictures, but the most memorable to me was when Billie Joe stuck out his hand in front of me to take my 21st Century Breakdown album! I franticly gave it to him and watched while he signed it! He took my Sharpie Cap! He was getting pushed by security so he couldn't stop, but it looked like he wanted to give it back, so he has/had my Red Sharpie Cap! I was like "OMG no wayyyyy" and I ran all the way to the Hard Rock Cafe to see if it actually just happened, as I thought it was all the dream! The picture of the signature is in my Sig!
