Research Paper for school about 'presentation of women in art' - connection with GD's album, mainly 'Gloria'

Hey green day fans everywhere

I have to write a paper (about 20 pages) about the presentation of women in art (in german: 'Frauendarstellung in der Kunst') till november 2010.

In addition to this, we have to do some practical work, like collages, pictures, painting, sculptures or that stuff about our issue.

Here an example what another girl from my class will do: (we are a girl-class)

She takes pictures of herselfe, showing her in very different positions and facets. (like 'One women - many faces')

or example number 2:

another girl wants to write about the doll 'barbie'. she will write about the history, the idea and general things about barbie. then she is going to take fotos about different dolls in different perspectives.

But we also can write about a historic work of art, for example 'mona lisa' or any other famous picture or artwork of women. then we have to interpret this, tell something about the artist and in conclusion we have to do some practical work on ourselves about that issue (we don't have to copy the holy artwork of the artist!)

we have to write a report about how the creation was formed, what's the background of our work and maybe on which artist we lean against.

okay and now my idea of my work :

i want to interpret green days album '21st century breakdown' mainly relating to the character 'gloria' and her problems and point of views about the 21st century. i will generalize this to other women in the world and try to picture different situations of gloria, maybe in the album - artwork - style (like graffity)

for example i want to bear on the problems in the usa and how that affect the relationship between her and christian.

this pictures wont be illustrated as realistic as a photo, i want to do this a little bit abstract, yes maybe a bit like the cover-art of the album

all of that what i wrote is just one idea and i know that this is kind of strange and crazy. i tried to connect my paper - theme with musik. i neither know if i wander from the subjekt with this idea, nor if this music album has enough stuff - concerning with my paper-theme - to write about.

i hope you can understand what i try to explain, because my english isn't that good

also hope that someone could help me, by giving mesome suggestions or criticizing me.

I think you've got a really good idea. I think it captures the focal point of the paper perfectly.

You could look into the background of the songs a bit, because they tie into it really well. And as you said, incorporating the artwork of the album would be really cool.

Music is an artform, and the best kind! So I think you made a really good decision!
