ReturnTo86 Posted April 24, 2010 Share Posted April 24, 2010 basically, this band has bought me to some the most fucking awsome poeple i know. it all started in rocktober for me when i meet soooo many fans (as i set out on my own). It was at the sheffield gig tha i meet the rocktober lot and hitched a ride with them to the rest of the shows. i still keep in contact with them and cant fucking wait to do it all again in june. i have ONE friend who likes green day and would come to gig with me, and i love the fact tha i now know so many people who have just as much love for this band as i do and i can just head out on my own and i know il bump into people. pure gold. No one gave a shit. You know, I've been like that from 4 years ago up to now. ¬¬ And going on. I got into Green Day when I was 12, and no one knew them, and everyone said that Billie was gay, blah blah blah [12 year-old comments]. And none of my friends like Green Day as I do, but I just talk about it, one day I got tired to keep my feelings about them. xD My friends and I don't have very similar tastes, I'm the only one who likes rock music. It's like a deal: I hear them talking about Lady Gaga and they do about Green Day. You know, I don't have the need of meeting Green Day fans online, but it's always cool to know someone who shares your tastings. 'Til then I walk alone. But this is an awesome place for people to meet up and geek out. I dunno what I would've done with my time last summer if it hadn't been for Beth, that's the truth. Like I get so happy when one of us meets or sees them cause I know how special that moment is for all of us. I'm seriously considering going to california to meet the california GDCrrs like my Jerbear! Ain't no lovin' like Green Day lovin'! That's basically the main thing I have learnt over the years. i had to comment on this beautiful beautiful thing you wrote anja...it gets to the heart of how much MORE joy i get in green day experiences now that i have met some lovely people here and at shows. i never quite understood when people would write stuff like, "its about the people that i was with at that show more than a fan experience with the band"...and im just only starting to get that now. you are a wise one anja! I would kill for this! I've meet a lot of people on here. There's actually a girl I hang out with that's a HUGE fan that lives right around the corner from me. And someone on here JennyK who lives in the next town over. I love meeting huge Green Day fans. A lot of people I meet are not into Green Day. They like that pop shit. I'm dying to meet people who already know us from shows! (PM me if you have seen them in IL, MO, NE, MN, MI, Ontario, WI or IN and remember two sisters dressed alike in all black and red ties or vests lined up EARLY. It's a long shot, I know, LOL) Anyway my sister are best friends and we do everything "Green Day" together! I am trying to convince her to come on GDC, too!
