Heidi Holiday Posted April 8, 2010 Posted April 8, 2010 Mashup of "Last of the American Girls" and Muse's "Starlight" = http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dgGC6TVe3zU I mentioned this a while back on the LOTAG Music Video thread, and now that it's released I figured I'd start a topic for everyone to discuss. Unfortunately, I've been unable to find the name of the mashup artist, so if anyone knows please give credit where it's due by posting the answer here. Overall, I didn't think this mashup was very well done. The back tracks of the two songs don't quite blend together seamlessly. Also, it seemed awkward that a majority of the vocals were from LOTAG, with Muse eventually included about 75% of the way into the song. However, I'm used to the mashup artist Girl Talk, who uses snippets of 30+ other songs to make up 1 song, so that could possibly be a reason as to why this sounds odd to me. What does everyone else think?
Bohemian+Scandal Posted April 8, 2010 Posted April 8, 2010 What the? Why would you make an entire thread for a mashup that you think sucks? I'm confused... Is there something special about this one? This killed Starlight, which is one of my favorite songs ever.
Heidi Holiday Posted April 8, 2010 Author Posted April 8, 2010 No there's nothing special about it...I just thought it was worth sharing because the concept was awesome... and who knows, maybe this is a rough mashup of something better that might be coming.Plus, I'm sure some people haven't particularly enjoyed other Green Day covers or mashups, but there may be other people out there who enjoy this. And, more importantly, if they do, I'd like to know why.

finksgirl Posted April 8, 2010 Posted April 8, 2010 I like both songs. Separately. But god this just doesn't sound good at all. And I usually am okay with mashups. If they could actually blend songs together well this would be decent.

You can barely hear Billie because the Starlight instrumental is so loud and Matt's vocals seem to come in very suddenly. Plus it sounds like Billie's singing in the wrong key.
