Bubbles. Posted March 31, 2010 Posted March 31, 2010 Green Day is joining a group to help support a "Second Chance Prom" after a school district in Mississippi cancelled their prom because a lesbian student wanted to go to the event with her girlfriend. You can read about the whole situation on this press release from the ACLU. McMillen said that she plans to attend the "private" prom, but has also long planned to attend the Mississippi Safe Schools Coalition's Second Chance Prom, to be held Saturday, May 8 in Tupelo. That event, sponsored by Green Day, Tonic.com, Iron Chef Cat Cora, and Lance Bass, among others, will be open to all LGBT students in the state, as well as straight students who are LGBT-supportive.
ParadoxAndPlaid Posted March 31, 2010 Posted March 31, 2010 Good for them. I'm glad those kids get a really cool prom after all they went through.
Lyz Z Posted March 31, 2010 Posted March 31, 2010 Great to here! I love it when Green Day supports causes, especially the LGBT. Fantastic!
Bubbles. Posted March 31, 2010 Author Posted March 31, 2010 Good for them. I'm glad those kids get a really cool prom after all they went through. Agreed. It makes me proud that Green Day are supporting it, too.
Angela. Posted March 31, 2010 Posted March 31, 2010 I heard about that situation on TV. I felt so bad for that girl, and I was unbelievably pissed off at the school district and everyone that was against her. It's so fantastic to see the boys supporting her, it really does makes me respect them even more. Edit: I'm late on this, but oh well. 4,900 posts!
ChelseaWhatsername Posted March 31, 2010 Posted March 31, 2010 The fuck is wrong with a lesbian trying to have fun with her girlfriend? Ridiculous. Go Green Day! Woo!

TaylorKlinke Posted April 1, 2010 Posted April 1, 2010 Aww I love Green Day for this. I'm a strong believer in equal rights. It pisses me off so bad when people think someone who is different then themselves should be treated differently.
