It doesn't really say anything [forgot the word], only that they, well, go back to basics to start off with the new album (which, to me, kind of sounds like a logical thing to do, but I'm not a musician so yeah). Thanks for posting it

I doubt it means the album will sound simple. I think it just means that they're going back to basics before diving into to making something extraordinary.

The back to basics thing is a little misleading. Obviously they have to start at square one when starting a new album. They aren't saying it will sound like Dookie or anything.

They're just going to keep getting better! I think they just keep evolving naturally and improving upon their signature sound. I personally love socially-conscious Green Day! But it's not like U2, it's more personal, yet still epic!

Its awesome that its not going to be too long of a wait for the next album, but this news doesn't really interest me too much... i'll get excited when theres a release date or something lol

I love this, I think 21CB was seeing how polished but still punk they could get and now this sounds like it's gonna be the opposite. I think they're going to experiment with how quiet they can get while still kicking ass

you can't say that. after both american idiot and 21st century breakdown were released they've spoken of going back to do "straight punk rock songs and albums" but only "when the time is right" maybe for the next album, the 'time is right' maybe 15 albums from now the time will be right, but they've said many times in the past 5-6 years that they would like to do a root-sounding album

First of all.. Basic is a very broad term and its not clear what they mean by Basics.. Plus all Green Day said was they were writing and that they brought out their old equipment as an experiment... I recal them saying they experimented with a lot of stuff when they were writing 21CB.. So that just what they do they try things to see what they sound like..

I very much doubt they are going to be doing anothe dookie or something like that.. It is very early days to know what they will do, and to be honest i know its exciting to know they are already working on a new album, i know i am, but seriously why are we in a rush to talk about that.. I am still enjoying 21CB and new album talk is too early even if they are working on stuff.. But that just my opinion..

OK i think you have taken what i said out of context.. I am just discussing the news.. Like i said i am very excited about the idea of them writing about a new album, i was more referring to the article and all the new so far when they took what Billie said and automatically made it that they are going back to Basics.. What do they mean by that?? Its really up to their interpertation..

I was not really referring to you or anyone on here, i was just referring to why is media talking about a new album already, Green Day are always working on stuff if its not for Green Day its side project and they are always experimenting, what they were talking about just doesnt mean anything as far as new album..

i can feel that the wait between the tour and the new album, is gonna be a hell for me, in a positive way though... But hopefully not as much as the period between '06 and '09!

But hey, i wanna ask you guys something. Doesn't it seem a little surreal to you that there is already talk about a new album? Especially for someone like me that got into the band right after American Idiot came out, and therefore 21CB is the only "new album" experience i've had yet, and it still feels so new and like it was last month it came out.

It wasn't hard for me to put American Idiot in the category of "past records", but i think 21CB will be.

Already now, thoughts like: "Which songs off of 21CB, and AI are gonna be dropped off the setlists, to make room for new ones?" is going through my head.

Hope somebody shares my thoughts
