I'm not sure if this a great idea but if it were to happen I know I'd still see it.

Green Day broadway musical

Green Day AI cast album

Green Day summer tour

Green Day Rock Band

Green Day heart like a hand grenade

Green Day New album

Green Day musical film

That is a lot of things to be linked with in the last few weeks and I'm probally after forgetting something too. It's getting hard to keep with everything these days.

I'm not complaining though, the more the better. There is surely going to be a concert DVD made too during the end of the 21stcb tour. :)

 Wow, looking at all of that stuff in one list is insane! :o

I actually think this would be pretty sweet. and at least it's not Marc Webb doing it :D lol, but no Tom Hanks, I know is amazing at what he does and he could really make it a good film.

Im not sure how i feel about this, when the idea of an AI movie was mentioned a few yrs ago, i liked it coz it loved the idea of seeing these characters come to life.. But now with the musical i'm concerned they will just the musical as it is and turn it into a movie like they did with other musicals. And lets face it the other musical movies may have done well in the box office but they were shit movies and I don’t want this to be another movie that a whole bunch of people go see initially and they make millions on then and then people forget all about it in a few months.

This has the potential of being a timeless story and I think it would work very well if they just started again from the album and re did the story. Don’t get me wrong I think the musical is amazing and the storyline works beautifully for the musical. I just don’t want them to take the musical and just add dialogue and scenes coz that would be a major FAIL.

I am not sure if I made much sense..

ha, my friend CANNOT possibly keep going on about how she thinks Green Day are shit if this happens

Man, it would be SO COOL! and Tom Hanks would be my pick anyway!

well, lets face it- musicals like Grease and West Side Story have lasted, and i know they arent great but they're still timeless :D and everyone i know STILL loves Mamma Mia, as far as i can tell  no, i know they do, my friends make me watch it all the time

anyway, you cant trust some critics these days

One of the things I didn't like so much about the musical is that musicals just aren't accessible to a lot of people - either too expensive or too far away. And American Idiot is SO accessible, it's for everyone. So the idea of a film that everyone could see sounds great.

I'd much prefer if it wasn't based entirely on the musical though. I was really excited by their original idea to make a film a few years ago but I just don't enjoy that "musical" style of song/singing :P. Hopefully if this happens it'll have less of that musical sound, hah.

since I already commented on it in the AI musical thread;

Hmm. I'm not too sure if I would like a movie, I'm kind of afraid it might turn into some weird ... well idk how to explain, but it could fuck up the album majorly if done wrong.

although I'm not going to completely rule the idea out, I remember how completely against I was when I first heard there would be a musical

I mean, I like the idea of it, at some point, but .... well idk. I'm kind of hesitant to get exited about this.

I don't know...

What I love about AI, is that I can keep listening to it over and over and always find new ways to interpret the story and the different characters in my own way. Turning it into a movie with actual dialogues and stuff doesn't leave much room for your imagination anymore, you know? That's just how I feel.

When I read the the thread title my first thought was 'No way!'.

After reading all the posts I do understand that a movie could kinda make up for all the people who won't ever get to see the musical (that would include me).

But I still cannot warm up to the idea of a musical film, Mamma Mia-style. If anything at all, I would prefer to see a drama based on the concept of AI, with the (original) music just occasionally playing in the background.

And as far as Tom Hanks is concerned... He has that (annoying) tendency to make things too sentimental and kinda sappy , which is not AI-style at all.

But anyways, I'm not gonna lose my sleep over this. Right now it's just an idea, we don't know if anything is gonna come out of this. Let's just wait and see and not get too excited.
