Guest Green Day Band Posted February 13, 2010 Posted February 13, 2010 Hey guys!I work as a media representative with Green Day and I must say it's awesome to see all you guys chatting about the band and what you like, what you don't like! We're on these forums now so we'll be checking up to see what the fans are thinking and what you guys are all talking about!I just have a question. Do you guys like where Green Day is going? Do you like the rock-opera genre they've started to take? And what works for you guys? WHat doesn't?Again, it's great to be on here to see so many loyal fans!-GD
Robin105 Posted February 13, 2010 Posted February 13, 2010 I love EVERYTHING Green Day does. Their new stuff is different then the old stuff which I like. Shows how the band has matured over the years.
amy_runs Posted February 13, 2010 Posted February 13, 2010 I love Green Day's new direction. BUT, I would absolutely love a fast punk album next
NowhereBound Posted February 13, 2010 Posted February 13, 2010 I love Green Day's new direction. BUT, I would absolutely love a fast punk album next THIS!
Guest Green Day Band Posted February 13, 2010 Posted February 13, 2010 I love Green Day's new direction. BUT, I would absolutely love a fast punk album next Are you thinking old-style Green Day? Or are you thinking a (more) rocked-up 21st Century Breakdown style album?
Reject-All-American Posted February 13, 2010 Posted February 13, 2010 Green Day is beyond words. I truly cant explain how amazing they are and the fucking impact they have on my life. They're the reason i started writing and playing music and they inspire me so much its crazy. I love everything they're doing, I love the whole direction they're going in. They are so fucking talented and brilliant and them expressing that in many different ways is truly amazing. One of the things i LOVE about Green Day is they're always doing something new. Every album is so different, and that is a very good thing. They're music shows how they've grown as musicians and just as people through the years. I love every album they've done and i truly believe we haven't even seen the best, the best is yet to come because these boys are conquering the world with there music. They are one of the biggest names in music, and they're so much more than that. I love the rock opera and the American Idiot musical is brilliant. They always amaze me with everything they do and i cant say it enough about how amazing they are and they truly are on a whole different level than any other band out there. Green Day truly is the best band in the world, they always have been, they always will be.
amy_runs Posted February 13, 2010 Posted February 13, 2010 Are you thinking old-style Green Day? Or are you thinking a (more) rocked-up 21st Century Breakdown style album?Personally, I would prefer more of an old-style. Not necessarily lyric wise (as they have matured past those angsty teenage years) but definitely a "more rocked-up" sound!
farley drexel hatcher Posted February 13, 2010 Posted February 13, 2010 I love it I love the music side of things, promo could be better but I doubt that has much to do with the band. A bit more interaction between them and the fans would be nice (I mean off stage, internet based stuff obviously, like Twitter, and stuff). When it comes to music though, I wouldn't want them to change their direction or go into a different one just to please fans.
Seedless_Reject Posted February 13, 2010 Posted February 13, 2010 sure I'd like to see more concerts, but yes I love them and don't know what I'd do without them. Otherwise Yes I like where they are going

There was a lot of criticism with 21st Century Breakdown about it being too 'un'-Green Day. Do you guys think the album was too different for them? Let us know!-GD
Lyz Z Posted February 13, 2010 Posted February 13, 2010 There's a whole lot of the new vs old shit going on.Personally, I like where they've gone with the rock opera/concept album thing. They couldn't have done the old-style punk for their whole career.I just don't know how they would follow up 21st Century Breakdown and American Idiot. They're tough to beat.
Robin105 Posted February 13, 2010 Posted February 13, 2010 I think 21st Century Breakdown is their best album besides Dookie. I love everything about it.

And people who say that just don't appreciate amazing music. The lyrics and message 21st Century Breakdown has is so fucking strong. It literally can make you feel like you can take on the world. it gives you so much hope at the same time and a lot of anger too. Its a brilliant record and they're best yet. Anybody who thinks otherwise just doesn't get it, and that's there loss because the record is BRILLIANT!

More signings, open press conferences...what sort of 'interaction' are you referring to?And you're right, promotionally, the band has very little say. Don't confuse that for having NO say, but you get what I mean.If you could just elaborate a bit more on the interaction issue I'd be more than welcome to pass that on. (Provided, of course, it's legitimate). Thanks!-GD
AleKerplunk Posted February 13, 2010 Posted February 13, 2010 of course, i love it!. i really love the Rock Opera albums and i think that American Idiot is a great album and 21stCentury Breakdown is better.I think it's great that a band decides to experiment with other musical styles. sometimes the changes are good

Thanks!-GDI mean in a more casual, light hearted sense - like maybe using twitter a bit more (though I know Billie already does that) posting pics and stuff, being a bit more involved in the site and just keeping us a bit more in the know I like how they did it back in the Shenanigans days where they did phone messages to the website, I think a lot of us would love to see that make a comeback They do brilliantly with their fans in every other sense, and I appreciate it, I think we all do!
Lyz Z Posted February 13, 2010 Posted February 13, 2010 Offtopic: I bet when people find out about this we'll break the server again./offtopic

Let us know!-GDI think the album was different for Green Day, but in the best way possible! American Idiot is the greatest album in the history of ever, and they did an incredible job of following it up. People just aren't used to such awesomeness.

They're tough to beat.this.I knew them with American Idiot, and I totally love both their new and the old stuff. But they couldn't keep doing the same old stuff over and over again, because it'd be boring. I want them changing, growing, and all, like they're doing it now. And I love classic rock, so I love the direction they're taking BTW, can you, please, tell them that they MUST confirm the southamerica dates for once? It's been almost 12 years since their only time here!and can I request Before the lobotomy as a single as well? lol
Supermodel*Robot Posted February 13, 2010 Posted February 13, 2010 Am I the only one that's slightly skeptical about this? I dunno, it just seems Green Day doesn't care about what people think of them, as long as they're true to themselves. Why would they want to know which direction everyone else want them to go in? Anyways, this thread may help your investigation. Old GD vs New GD
Deathwish. Posted February 13, 2010 Posted February 13, 2010 I love where Green Day is. All I can say is they are getting better and awesome each and every day.
Moxy Crimefighter Posted February 13, 2010 Posted February 13, 2010 I bawled like a baby start to finish of 21st Century breakdown and I listened to it in one afternoon. literally sat down, immersed myself it the artwork and everything. It took me two years to listen to American idiot in it's entireity. (I was a shit-headed 12-13 year old with no paitence for anything whatsoever) Honestly, Green day could record themselves reading the phonebook out loud over classical music and I'd still call it the most wonderful thing my ears have ever heard.

OK. Now that I've clarified what you meant, Green Day are usually too busy playing or in the studio working on new material. I know Twitter is one thing Billie likes to keep updated as often as he can, but as far as I'm aware, of late they've shot up with popularity to an extent that's making it hard to keep fans 'in the know'. I suppose that's why there's people like me around! Thanks for the advice though! -GD
amy_runs Posted February 13, 2010 Posted February 13, 2010 To be honest, I would still love Green Day if they made a polka/techno/screamo/hip-hop/folk/country album. I'm sure they would make it amazing, too
