valentinesandcigs
Everyday i think about Warner trying to get back at Green day for waiting so long to release the follow up to American idiot but thats just my paranoia
dolce
Warner did a really sucky job promoting this album. That said - I certainly don't think the guys are hurting from it. If anything, I think they ENJOY being a little less in the spot light and being able to focus more on the music and their fans. The huge "Peak of Stardom" thing with AI was great, sure, and it allowed them to feel extra confident about the direction their music was going in. What I'm proud of, though, is that they are STILL at the peak of their careers. Record sales are so microscopically important when you compare it to how much the guys have grown as musicians to create an album as amazing as 21CB. They just keep getting better and better and better. I have a suspicion that the guys would rather be looked at as great musicians rather than a highly marketable product.i ger what people are saying about the whole 'break in touring' thing, but i don't think green day are that type of band. Sure they have 6 weeks or so between legs of the tour, but 2 or 3 months? it just doesn't seem like them.Keep in mind that they have families that they surely need to spend quality time with. I realize the love touring, but they're also very committed to their roles at home. Also - they're not "old" by any means, but they're not teenagers anymore, either. They need a break, physically and mentally. And they deserve one. They already announced that they'd be touring the States again, so I wouldn't worry about it. They'll be back soon enough, and by the time we know it, it will all be over with. I'd be quite happy with a break in between tours, if only to delay the inevitable "goodbye" before they go into hiding in the studio once more. Deathwish.
Who knows really. Could be just a bunch of rumours. But Warner is fairly crappy.
Moxy Crimefighter
Warner irritate me, they haven't exactly flogged this album, even though it was critically acclaimed, long-awaited, and the band slogged it out over 3 years to make it.But having said that, if I was Green Day, I'd be offended to be on the same hot 40 list as Miley Cyrus and the Black eyed peas. NaturalxDisaster
OK, I hope you're wrong... I mean, warner's a shit, and they MUST announce the southamerican tour Fuck off, I need to know that [not only me] and the singles are very important too, but to see them is... I don't know, i feel so nervous, anxious, happy, everything at the same time xD you're just paranoid (:
HoneyDo666
The album hasn't been well promoted since its initial release, but Warner probably thought it could sell itself.Still, they're winning awards and performing on award shows and most importantly they've never let their fans down!Plus, the musical will be huge, so I think sales will be boosted by that! Fuzz
What i'm interested in knowing is why anyone cares? People bitch when Green Day is at the top of the charts and everyone and their mother is buying their albums, and suddenly we have a bunch of random people who are suddenly hardcore Green Day fans. Or you guys will bitch because they don't have that status.I agree that Warner could have done a much better job at promoting the band - but how does that help Green Day? They're still selling out their tours, and that's probably the most important thing to the band. No, their singles aren't at number 1 - and it is nice to see them when they're there. But all that equates to in reality is more money for the label. Yes, it's nice to see Green Day on top, and to see them get some real airtime on tv and radio and have everyone talking about them. But at the same time, there's a tradeoff to that, and I don't really think the band cares too much about it. Musically, they're on the top of their game and they know it. They're still making a shit ton of money, and we're still getting some kickass tours and more music to come in the future. So whether or not Warner promotes them more bothers me very little. Juan
I think they should go indie, tbh, even less promotion. Less over-produced shit.

Mar
I definitely agree with you about the singles, and about the lack of dates IF (and that's the key word, if) they are planning on doing shows in the spring. If they're gonna take the spring off (which is certainly understandable), I wish we'd know for sure, and maybe they could release the tour dates really early (like the UK ones over the summer) so we'd all have an idea about when they'll be coming around so losers like me can make sure their parents don't plan vacations during those times, and we can plan our class schedules accordingly so we miss the least amount of school! RobyRoom
You're not the only one, Nick I don't know how the promotion has been in USA or England, that are the biggest market for the band, but here in Italy I can safely say the no one has get that Green Day made a new album, I mean there are stilll people that ask "When are Green Day coming in Italy?" or "Are they gonna come?" Because they ignore that Green Day actually made three sold out concerts in Italy, less than 2 months ago That means that Warner hasn't promote the tour properly imo. They didn't do any interview on the radio, nothing, neither on Rock stations :/For what concerns the singles, only 21 Guns has been really succesful. And well, I don't think that the bad results depend on Warner, but on the radios that don't play them at all. Back in 2004/5 all the radios played Green Day, now only rock station play them, I think that the main public is again focusing on different genres like hip-hop or dance. parinaz
excuse me I don't get it. does Warner make them interview? I mean when carson daly for example interview with them ,is it warner that makes him interview with them for promotion? it's sophisticate i actually agree with you Nick. Warner is an evil company. they just want money. they dont give a shit about people. just them selves. but who knows, mabey the guys will be filming in March. you never know.this. but hey the bands belonged to this company think the same way as Warner most of the time
RobyRoom
^ I'm sure it's like that. They don't plan themselves what they're gonna do. They can express their preferences, but it's Warner and their manager that plan all the meetings with radios, magazines and stuff like that. They are musicians, they don't think about the promotion

RobyRoom
And also I'm really mad because probably there's not gonna be a Green Day concert in Italy in the summer, they only are in the line up of a lame festival. And I think it's because festivals pay really well, and Warner prefers that rather than build a Green Day concert

I wasn't a fan at the beginning of AI. about your last quote I should say they sometimes like promotion. I mean the situation caused by Warner make them think like Warner heads. money lover. RobyRoom
In the AI era they where everywhere but I think that it was due to the fact that people were freaking out about Green Day, and every radio or television wanted to interview them, and played their music, but the music scene changes and what people liked 5 years ago it's not what they like now :/I don't think that Warner mentality has influenced them so much, I think that if you wanna be a big band you are forced to join a major otherwise you do like Radiohead, you will still be a big band, but your public is going to change, and will become more selected. Guest Shangri-La
i fail to see why anyone would care about something like this...they'll always be hugely popular even if they never create another AI.
RobyRoom
I will always be a fan, but if record company, managers and media start to screw up they're work as musicians, I get really pissed off. They deserve a better treatment, they're one of Warner hugest artists, they deserve to be promoted well. I don't want them to be everywhere like during AI, but, at least, I'd like people to know that they still exist and make music
Smoothed Out
Warner is really starting to really wind me up with their lack of Green Day action (and I am in no way blaming GD, I believe if they knew what was going on they would not be happy at all) I mean where is this new 21 guns vid? And UK fans can't even legally buy the AI cast version! It has literally just disappeared (not that it was ever truly over here) But it's not warner that is losing the most profit, it's GD and their fans are recieving what has been promised! I love Green Day but currently hating warner Sorry rant over
Metanoia
the official german site said there gonna be a new single in janurary or feburary but i do think that they kinnda stop green day alittle because all the copyright shit (which is also for all the other musicians that are signed to warner).......isnt there a show in march in pennsylvania confirmed too ?!?! you're not paranoid I think that whole warner thing too.in a way but its just that 21st cb isnt as big as ai in the charts etc. that the only reason i could think of that there is not that much promotion from warner and stuff......
