Hey guys,

is there a way to distinguish between the Kerplunk! Re-Issue and the original Kerplunk! version? I found an article on Amazon and now I wonder whether it's the original version or whether not. The only difference I can see is that the pictures which sjows the cover is a little bit brighter than the one of the article called "Kerplunk! Re-Issue". So how can I be sure that the one I buy is not by mistake the re-issue?

Thanks

The original Kerplunk has the "Lookout records" logo and the re-issue has the reprise records logo...

(I think that's what you're asking for...)

Well yes. Indeed what I asked for is the difference between Kerplunk! and Kerplunk! re-issue which shows me which version it is. Thanks for your reply first. But unfortunately I cannot see whether there's the Lookout or the Reprise logo because the picture only shows the cover. I'll post the two links hoping they work for you in other countries, too.

1. link: the Kerplunk! re-issue: http://www.amazon.de/Kerplunk-Re-Issue-Gre...014&sr=1-10

2. link: Is this really the original version of Kerplunk! ?? http://www.amazon.de/gp/product/B000000FGQ...-63&seller=

Thank you

You should take a look at the dates. The re-issued one is from 2007.

The second one you posted is from 1st april 1995. Kerplunk was first released in 1992 (right!?!)

So the second one does not seem to be from the first bunch of released CDs of Kerplunk. But I think that one should be one which was still released by lookout records. I have no idea, where you can get one from 1992. If you are lucky, you find one in a cd store.

Hope that helped a bit.

Why is it so important for you to get an original one? It's not so bad to have a re-issued one, is it? Sometimes they have some extra stuff on them.

(I hope you get what I mean. Sorry for my shitty english. It was hard to explain. If not, tell me and I explain it in german  )

I don't think your English is shitty, I understood everything...Thank you, I didn't even think of looking at the date...I can't really explain why I want the original one. As a matter of principle I think. Well here it doesn't really matter because both are the same exept for the logo of the recording company...Well thank you for your replies ;)

the original kerplunk didn't have the last 4 tracks on it. that's the easiest way to tell.

What's really funny: one hour ago I got Kerplunk! by my aunt as an delayed christmas present :D

But I don't really know which version it is because I cannot find a logo neither of Lookout nor of Reprise...It says the label is called "Epitaph"????????

I really am confused...

^ Yeah I have the same and it confuses me too.

The only year mentioned on it is 1992, too, nothing in the 21st century or something. And yeah, the only label name I can find is Epitaph.

Same goes for 1039/SOSH, because I sure don't have the original, I have the one you can put in your computer too etc etc, but it doesn't have the Reprise logo on it anywhere, it's not even mentioned (nor is 2007 mentioned, only 2003).

I feel very dumb now.

After long searching NOW I found the solution for Daughter.of.Rage.and.Love and myself:

Kerplunk! was released in this versions:

Lookout! records: LK#46 (1992 - 2005) - 12 track LP

Lookout! records: LK #46 (1992 - 2005) - 16 track CD/ CASSETTE

Lookout! records (through Epitaph): 6517-2 (1997 - 2007) - 16 track CD (Europe)

Lookout! records (through Toy's Factory): TFCK-87162 (1998 - 2007) - 16 track CD (Japan)

Reprise records: 43281 (2007 - *) - 16 track CD

Epitaph records: 6864-2 (2007 - *) - 16 track CD (Europe)

Reprise records: WPCR-12554 (2007 - *) - 16 track CD (Japan)

Reprise records: 517784 (2009) - 12 track LP + 7" EP

It seems that Daughter.of.Rage.and.Love and I own the Epitaph records: 6864-2 (2007 - *) - 16 track CD (Europe) version because the original version says "Lookout!" in the booklet...

Your 1039/SOSH problem:

Lookout! records: LK#22 (1991 - 2005) US

Lookout! records (through Epitaph): 6522-2 (1997 - 2007) (Europe) EU

Lookout! records (through Toy's factory): TFCK-87161 (1998 - 2007) (Japan) Japan

Lookout! records: LK#300CD (2003 - 2005) US

Reprise records: 43282-2 (digipack)(2007) US

Reprise records: 43307-2 (jewelcase) (2007) US

Epitaph: 6866-2 (2007) (Europe) EU

Reprise records: WPCR-12553 (2007) (Japan) Japan

Obviously you also have the Epitaph: 6866-2 (2007) (Europe) EU version...

EDIT: I found this on www.greendaydiscography.com

huh? that's not possible.. all the reissues have 16 tracks.

I have two copies of Kerplunk!

One is the Epitaph/Lookout version and the other is the Reprise re-issue.

I think the Epitaph one is a re-issue from 1997 for Europe (well that's what it says on the disc).

The Re-issued Kerplunk from Reprise has been Remastered i'm pretty sure of..

There are so many different versions, whoa!

Didn't know that, thx for the digging up, I appreciate it.

Myself I consider to be lucky as I own the 1997 Epitath/Lookout one. (bought in 2007.)

Nope, mine has 12 and it's clearly a re-issue since I've got a flyer with the vinyl saying just that. Well, the Sweet Children EP comes with the re-issue but the last 4 tracks are not on the Kerplunk! vinyl.

edit: Here's a pic

The reissues are under the Reprise label, the originals are under Lookout!

As for the tracks, the vinyls are the ones with 12 songs, and the CDs have the 4 extra tracks.

At least, that's how it is with the ones I have...I have the original vinyl with 12 songs under Lookout!, the reissue vinyl under Reprise (also 12 songs), and I have the CD with 16 tracks from Lookout! I never got the Kerplunk CD from Reprise, but I would imagine it's the same.

I have the Lookout! records: LK #46 (1992 - 2005) - 16 track CD one. I think. It says 'Lookout 46' on the CD and beneath that '1992 Lookout records'. :)
