GDM Posted December 10, 2009 Posted December 10, 2009 Hi guys, I'm going to try and do the proofreading as best as I going back into this thread. Hopefully I have seen all of the final or near to final uploads. Everything I may write are only suggestions, so please feel free to talk back and say no! I have done proofreading for two calendars before, so I hope that I can add to this great calendar that you all have created! And about that T and Th: T stands for Tuesday, Th for Thursday...Ok, rummaging through this thread, here are the months that I could find:January Calendar (Michi1 has seen and will update)http://i50.tinypic.com/2my21w5.jpgThe hyphens in your date list aren't consistent. For the 1st, 6th and 12th, there is a space between the hyphen and the text, but not for the 17th and 18th. Also, is the F in Freese capitilized or lower case?Take out the 2010 in your calendar? No one else put 2010 in their calendars. Don't know if we want to make this consistent or not.=====================February Calendar (Nele posted; Tanya asked about the "D" in Dookie. Aligned ok?. Also, February is spelled incorrectly)(Update: D is aligned correctly; February has been corrected.)Looking sexy, Nele!1900x12001280x1024====================March Calendar (Mickey has seen and asked for suggestions)http://img12.imageshack.us/img12/3893/calendar1b.pngIt's beautiful, but I can't really read the St. Patrick's Day text. sad.gifFINAL EDIT: http://i45.tinypic.com/20gdvyc.pngThis one is easier to read, but still tough. But I like it!With GREEN St. Patrick's Day text:1920x12001280x1024====================April Calendarhttp://img265.imageshack.us/img265/9210/gdccalendar.jpgOn April 19th: Anniversary is spelled incorrectly. Should be: anniversary.I would take the period out of the sentence: 19th anniversary of 1039/Smoothed Out Slappy HoursMaybe a period after St.? Don't know if this is different in US/UK. In US it would be St. George. We don't really really celebrate St. George's day in the US nor Arbor Day. If St. George's Day is a UK holiday, maybe UK should be in parentheses like Arbor Day (US)EDIT: Jeff Matika's birthday addition? I think it's April 21st, but this needs to be confirmed.====================May Calendarhttp://img694.imageshack.us/img694/984/21cbmike6.jpgNice!====================June Calendar http://img10.imageshack.us/img10/9591/juncalfin.pngNice!====================July Calendar (Nevermind My Name will update when computer stops acting up)http://img23.imageshack.us/img23/4907/option3july.jpgLooks great! You need consistent spaces between the periods in your date text and the beginning of the text. Sometimes there is a space, and sometimes not, particularly for July 1 and July 2. Also, the slash for the text on July 2 should either be:... was released/16th anniversaryor--- was released / 16th anniversaryRight now it'swas released/ 16th anniversary====================August Calendar (Violeta, I suggested the change of hyphen)http://img514.imageshack.us/img514/9206/wa...darfinished.png====================September Calendarhttp://i50.tinypic.com/ogkqy8.pngIs anything being added to September?====================October Calendarhttp://i97.photobucket.com/albums/l232/jaz...1024October.jpgLove the design, but I have the same problem as in Violeta's: it looks like you are saying that there are 3 TO 10 years since Warning was released.Maybe: 3rd - 10 years since Warning10th - 15 years since Insomniac was released14th - 13 years since Nimrod was released17th - 23 years since Sweet Children played their first concert at Rod's Hickory PitAlso, it's Rod's Hickory Pit====================November CalendarCould not make this one bigger to look at.Update: green_tint doesn't currently have Internet access and will have to upload the final version to Matteo tomorrow. Hopefully I will be able to look at it before a final version is done, but might not be able to see it also.====================December Calendar Are there two calendars for December? Sorry, I saw two different ones and don't know which one is really the one to proof. One I saw had Hanukkah on December 1, the other on December 2. And one had an h on the end of Hanukkah and one didn't. Hmm. Clarification on which one is the one I should be looking at?Here are the ones I saw:http://img146.imageshack.us/img146/9349/2010decembergdw.pnghttp://i82.photobucket.com/albums/j273/sar...eceber20103.pngThere are so many ways to spell Hanukkah, but maybe you want to put an H at the end as in: Hanukkah. Also, it starts at sundown on the 1st, and while I don't know if you want to add the word sundown, the way it looks now, it seems that it starts on sundown the night before (in this case, November 30). So I don't know if you want to make it for December 2, which people will know that it begins the night before? What do you think? Does that make sense? And Kwanzaa has two a's.
Micky Posted December 10, 2009 Posted December 10, 2009 March Calendarhttp://img12.imageshack.us/img12/3893/calendar1b.pngIt's beautiful, but I can't really read the St. Patrick's Day text. sad.gifhttp://i45.tinypic.com/20gdvyc.pngI chose the 2nd one as final calendar Anyway, I know the text is hard to read, but I really don't know where to write it, since I don't like footnotes :/Suggestions?
GDM Posted December 10, 2009 Author Posted December 10, 2009 I chose the 2nd one as final calendar Anyway, I know the text is hard to read, but I really don't know where to write it, since I don't like footnotes :/Suggestions? I don't have any. Keep it like it is, I think maybe people will be able to understand that it's St. Patrick's Day. And yes, since there's only one date, might as well not use footnotes anyway.I leave it up to you all to decide!Edit: Or maybe put the text in green?
Micky Posted December 10, 2009 Posted December 10, 2009 ^ Before I did it, I had thought to do something like this ... but I don't know how it looks :/http://i46.tinypic.com/bhnec1.jpg

Though I think we should call it "Lushotology Day." hahahaha.... Here's my entry for Februrary. 1920x12001280x1024I couldn't make both look exactly the same but I tried.Looks sexy... uh... good.... to me!Just one think... is the "D" in Dookie aligned with the rest of word? I know it's curved, but is is a little off? This just may also be my "old" eyes...
PasalacquaBomb Posted December 10, 2009 Posted December 10, 2009 ok here is my august calendar http://img514.imageshack.us/img514/9206/wa...darfinished.pngLooks quite good

Beautiful work - just this, 'February' is spelled wrong.
GDM Posted December 10, 2009 Author Posted December 10, 2009 ok here is my august calendar http://img514.imageshack.us/img514/9206/wa...darfinished.pngAs usual, I love your stuff, Violeta!!The only thing I would say is that in your text, the hyphen makes it seem that it has been "fourteen TO sixteen years since they played Woodstock" instead of it being the 14th of the month. Maybe instead of the hyphen, a period or a slash?14. 16 years since they played Woodstockor 14 / 16 years since they played Woodstockor August 14 - 16 years since they played Woodstockor 14 - Sixteen years since they played WoodstockWhat think you? Beautiful work - just this, 'February' is spelled wrong.Hehe... and I'm suppose to proofread... hahaha..... brilliant. Thanks, just!!I've spelled it like that before myself. I have trouble with the word!NELE:Justcause pointed out that February is spelled incorrectly.

justcause Posted December 10, 2009 Posted December 10, 2009 I've only skimmed this thread and the previous one for the calendar, so maybe this has already been thought about - but, will the artists who made each page get credited for it? Like, on the back cover or somesuch?

Like, on the back cover or somesuch?I think it's only going to be online. However, I was wondering about the original photographers also... will there be a credit page on the Download site for both the photographers and the artists? This is probably a question for Matteo and the GDC people?
