greendaytone Posted November 10, 2009 Posted November 10, 2009 What did Jason Freese do before Green Day? I was wondering if he used to be one of the bumble bees from the Nimrod era, because they used to play the trumpet! I don't think so though. He's only been there since AI right?Anyway, Jason Freese is one cool pick chewing mother fucker! Discuss.
novacaine_kid Posted November 10, 2009 Posted November 10, 2009 I think the Bumblebee man was Kurt Lohmiller. I think Freese didn't join until 2004? I could be wrong though. He's one cool dude though EDIT: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Green_DayScroll down to Former Touring Members
alaniluau Posted November 10, 2009 Posted November 10, 2009 I spent like 5 minutes laughing at the title. As others have said, I think he's only been around since AI. I like him, he adds a lot to the shows.
Kryssi. Posted November 10, 2009 Posted November 10, 2009 Yeah, I was going to say that it didn't look like Freese.
Hermione Posted November 10, 2009 Posted November 10, 2009 Best thread title I've seen for a while Just had a look on his wikipedia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jason_FreesePretty short article but I thought this was quite an impressive list:Jason has also played for other artists/bands including Dr. Dre, Weezer, Jewel, NOFX, Lenny Kravitz, Queens of the Stone Age, Busta Rhymes, the Goo Goo Dolls, Joe Walsh, Feist, The Vandals and Liz Phair.Come to think of it I think I've seen a picture of him in the studio with Dr. Dre. I wish I knew which songs he played on!
Kryssi. Posted November 10, 2009 Posted November 10, 2009 He also had his own band, I had them on MySpace a few years back... I wish I could bloody remember who they were called now.

Anyway, I like Jason, he seems pretty cool, but other peole have already answered that he joined in 2004.
Nova-Caine Posted November 10, 2009 Posted November 10, 2009 Tony I am disappointed in you, everyone knows I am the bumble bee

greendaytone Posted November 10, 2009 Author Posted November 10, 2009 Uh oh, this is turning in to a Rocktober thread! That's amazing that Freese played with the likes of those artists. I never knew. He's done it all, especially now he's with Green Day! No wonder he's so damn cool!
Anja Posted November 10, 2009 Posted November 10, 2009 Uh oh, this is turning in to a Rocktober thread! Keep the stories coming
Kryssi. Posted November 10, 2009 Posted November 10, 2009 I already knew he played with those acts
Smoothed Out Posted November 10, 2009 Posted November 10, 2009 No, that doesn't look like Jason. But he is seriously cool and so talented musically.
greendaytone Posted November 10, 2009 Author Posted November 10, 2009 I already knew he played with those acts :wink:Ooooh, Kryssi's done her homework!! I put my hand out to Jason Freese when i jumped on stage at Wembley Arena, and he went to shake mine, before the security guard grabbed me and made me go over towards Billie!
Alan86 Posted November 10, 2009 Posted November 10, 2009 I just googled Jason out of interest after reading some of the stuff here, Apperently he is a minister too and he performed a wedding ceremony for some singer and her husband. Singers site where she tells the storyextractMy old key board player Jason Freese (he's in Green Day’s band now) and his wife were at my San Diego Brad Paisley show, and he mentioned he was a minister, that he had gotten ordained online - and that's when Ty and I decided to tell him and his wife about our plans, and have Jason marry us!! So the four of us went to the Bahamas and it was just magical... I can't even describe it...Weird
The Disappearing Boy Posted November 10, 2009 Posted November 10, 2009 I think the Bumblebee man was Kurt Lohmiller.yes. Watch from about 1.10 on this video
Isabel Posted November 10, 2009 Posted November 10, 2009 I was reading the special Kerrang issue there on the bus earlier and I saw a picture of the band during the Warning-American Idiot era with a chicken and a bumblebee. I actually thought "That's not Jason Freese, is it?" Weird timing. Tony, you always manage to predict what I'm wondering

TheBullwinkle Posted November 10, 2009 Posted November 10, 2009 I had no idea that Freesey had played with QOTSA. I have an even bigger boner for him now.
Bexie. Posted November 10, 2009 Posted November 10, 2009 Tony has definately earnt himself 'best thread starter' for next years GDC awards
nimrod-41 Posted November 10, 2009 Posted November 10, 2009 Wow, according to his Wiki page, Jason Freese has done a hell of alot! And his brother used to play drums with Nine Inch Nails and Guns N Roses
Sarahnade. Posted November 10, 2009 Posted November 10, 2009 No idea, but I have to comment on how amazing the thread title is.
Peace and Rainbows Posted November 11, 2009 Posted November 11, 2009 Intesesting questionBut sorry i got no answer
Trina Posted November 11, 2009 Posted November 11, 2009 I think he played with Jewel quite a bit. Like that was his main thing before Green Day..But yeah, it is an impressive and diverse list of bands to work with. He's the shit. In..Dublin I think, he and Jason White came out on the side of the stage to watch Prima Donna which I thought was pretty sweet. Noone even noticed and I didn't want to draw attention but I did have to give him a smile, which was returned.
