Tailschao Posted November 6, 2009 Posted November 6, 2009 Alright, so, I apologise if this has already been answered - which I cannot belive it hasn't, yet I can't find any mention in a sticky nor does a search for "+wembley + time" produce anything useful.TM and the other ticket websites list the start time for Wembley as 16:30, and Manchester as 16:00. So... what's up with this? Is it a case of the entire show being much earlier than is the norm for a headine rock show, and so it finishes much earlier? Or will there simply be several support bands to lengthen everything out and produce what is essentially a mini-festival, with GD themselves coming on at normal 8ish > 10:45ish? To be honest I'm hoping it's the first option. Outdoors in June means it isn't gonna get all that dark until like 10pm, so either way the majority of the show will be in daylight (it's times like this I wish I was in Italy or Spain or something. No curfews = 10:30 START times for many summer stadium concerts). And if the entire show is over much earlier I can get home before back to the Midlands before the trains stop running (which means I can also afford to go to Manchester). So, anyone know? Thanks.
Martyn Posted November 6, 2009 Posted November 6, 2009 I'd guess/presume a few support bands, Milton Keynes in 2005 had 3 support bands including taking back sunday
chris topher Posted November 6, 2009 Posted November 6, 2009 Oh, I accually think three support bands is two too much?
Guest Posted November 6, 2009 Posted November 6, 2009 Guess we'll just have to wait and see! I wish the Manchsester gig was later, I finish school at 3 0.o
Minority_GD Posted November 6, 2009 Posted November 6, 2009 Guess we'll just have to wait and see! I wish the Manchsester gig was later, I finish school at 3 0.oYou're going to school on that day?
Bexie. Posted November 6, 2009 Posted November 6, 2009 I'd guess/presume a few support bands, Milton Keynes in 2005 had 3 support bands including taking back sunday Most probably this
Hayley1979 Posted November 6, 2009 Posted November 6, 2009 I'm sure my email said doors open at half 4, rather than the show starting then I'll checkedit: hmm no i was wrong. It just says "You have booked to attend GREEN DAY at Wembley Stadium, London onSATURDAY 19/06/2010 at 16.30"I guess i just assumed that was the doors opening then :/
Smbcf Posted November 6, 2009 Posted November 6, 2009 I hope there aren't too many support acts, or if there are I hope they're good! I always try to avoid support acts but obviously in a venue like that you can't really I'm just too impatient to sit through support acts (especially if they're shite!).
DarrenDookie Posted November 6, 2009 Posted November 6, 2009 I'd guess/presume a few support bands, Milton Keynes in 2005 had 3 support bands including taking back sunday Who were the other 2 support bands?
Martyn Posted November 6, 2009 Posted November 6, 2009 Who were the other 2 support bands?http://www.glasswerk.co.uk/reviews/national/1353/Green+Day says Hard-Fi, Taking back Sunday + Jimmy Eat World
DarrenDookie Posted November 6, 2009 Posted November 6, 2009 http://www.glasswerk.co.uk/reviews/national/1353/Green+Day says Hard-Fi, Taking back Sunday + Jimmy Eat World Wow, thats probably the best support line-up ive ever seen And if thats what they did for Milton Keynes you can be pretty much guarenteed thats what theyll do for Manchester & Wembley
rhys_please Posted November 6, 2009 Posted November 6, 2009 Can't speak for Wembley, but... When Oasis played heaton park June this year, they came on around 9 and finished just before 11, I can't imagine the show at LCCC having any different times.
Juliette Posted November 6, 2009 Posted November 6, 2009 http://www.glasswerk.co.uk/reviews/national/1353/Green+Day says Hard-Fi, Taking back Sunday + Jimmy Eat World Woah shit, Jimmy Eat World & Green Day in one concert ? That's pretty much my idea of heaven.I reckon it should start at 4.30 and keep going till the usual finish time of 11
Nova-Caine Posted November 6, 2009 Posted November 6, 2009 http://www.glasswerk.co.uk/reviews/national/1353/Green+Day says Hard-Fi, Taking back Sunday + Jimmy Eat World That was the support for Milton Keynes ffs you think they'd come up with something originalI vote for this band:http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=1763...7190&ref=nf
Martyn Posted November 6, 2009 Posted November 6, 2009 That was the support for Milton Keynes ffs you think they'd come up with something originalArgh >_< posted that in response to someone wondering what Milton Keyne's support was. To anyone who may be confused, that's not the support for next year.I was thinking, having the tubbies as first support would rock but of course that's not gonna happen cos green day can't really get pissed hours before playing to 80k-ish people...the Network as opening support + some small band + some popular/well known band? Would totally work if it was done
Guest Shangri-La Posted November 6, 2009 Posted November 6, 2009 it's also an outdoor show, isn't it? makes sense that it'd be a little earlier.
Bexie. Posted November 6, 2009 Posted November 6, 2009 it's also an outdoor show, isn't it? makes sense that it'd be a little earlier.Wembley? Depends on the lovely English weather. If its pissing down I think there is a roof that comes across

Would totally work if it was done Ah ok sorry, I'm old I get confused easily I doubt they'd use the side projects to support themselves in such a huge venue, I am guessing they'll do rather long GD shows for each of these Stadium shows. It's just a case of lets wait and see x
Arctic Fox Posted November 6, 2009 Posted November 6, 2009 I know it's not the best comparision, but I saw Kaiser Chiefs at Elland Road (a stadium, although admittedly a lot smaller) last year, got in at three, Kaiser Chiefs didn't come on till about... half 8, if I remember correctly? They had 4 support bands, three of whom I loved, one of whom I couldn't stand. So fingers crossed whoever we get for these ones will fan fanfudgingtastic.
kaiserblue Posted November 6, 2009 Posted November 6, 2009 4.30 means doors open at 4.30 not show starts. It was the same at U2 earlier in the year.Wembely has a 11pm curfew on a Saturday, so taking things backwards from there :- Green Day (on stage for 2 1/2 - 3 hours) will be on at 8.00. Support Act II (on stage for 30 - 45 mins) will be on at 7.00. Support Act I (on stage 30 mins) will start around 6-6.15pm.This is only my best guesss and could be totally wrong - I would be happy for a 5 hour Green Day show and no support. Ha Ha
