This week's Song of the Week is Stuck With Me. Please use this thread to discuss your thoughts and feelings about the song.

Stuck With Me first appeared on the Insomniac album, which was released in October 1995, reached number two on the charts and has gone platinum twice. Stuck With Me was released as a single and reached position 34 on the charts.

An interesting fact about this song is that it wasn't originally supposed to be named "Stuck With Me." The song that's now called Do Da Da was supposed to be named Stuck With Me (for obvious reasons); however, someone made an error during production and this song was given the name Stuck With Me. When asked to come up with a name for the other song, Do Da Da was flippantly chosen.

Here's the official video for the single Stuck With Me:

Stuck With Me Lyrics

I'm not part of your elite

I'm just alright

Class structure waving colors

Bleeding from my throat

Not subservient to you I'm just alright

Down classed by the powers that be

Give me loss of hope

Cast out... Buried in a hole

Struck down... forcing me to fall

Destroyed... giving up the fight

I know I'm not alright

What's my price and will you pay it if it's alright?

Take it from my dignity

Waste it until it's dead

Throw me back into the gutter

'Cause it's alright

Find another pleasure fucker

Drag them down to hell

Cast out... Buried in a hole

Struck down... forcing me to fall

Destroyed... giving up the fight

I know I'm not alright

I love this song. Especially the first line. :)

Definitely my fav off Insomniac. But I have to go now, or I'll soon be an insomniac myself.

Ahhh, one of their best songs. <3

So pulverizing and interesting. The lyrics are brilliant, the video is amazing, and the music is excellent. Can't think of a bad thing to say about it.

I really like the first line - "I'm not part of your elite, I'm just alright"

This song is fun, and I'm glad a song off Insomniac is SOTW becuase it's my favourite Green Day album, hehe

And even though it wasn't originally it's name, I've always liked the name "Stuck With Me" for this song, it just seems to fit nicely in a way that I've never really been able to explain. The fact that it came about from a mistake someone made just makes it more awesome, hehe

This is a song I listen to when it feels like everything is going to shit. It means a lot to me.

To me it really emphasises feeling pathetic and defeated. So whenever I'm feeling horrible about myself or my life in general, this is the perfect song to relate to and it makes me feel better because I know I'm not the only one who has felt useless. I also think the song is a bit sarcastic, especially the throw me back into the gutter part. Which is why I love Green Day's music because it can be simple yet have a double meaning.

This just shows that Green Day's older music has never just been about 'masturbation and getting high'. It really frustrates me how nearly every review or person who doesn't really listen to them assumes that. I mean if you look at the lyrics, this song is also talking about separating yourself from society and expressing a frustration with being subjugated. Some people act like that was a completely new theme in American Idiot.

Anywayy that's what the song means to me, one of my favourites on Insomniac. I'll stop ranting about it now though.

YOU APPLY THE SAUCE TO YOUR WORDS? lamesauce, radsauce, dopesauce, etc.

hmm anywho. I love this song. It gets out all my aggression. Actually I love this entire album. It's just so fiery and raw. The music video reminds me of the 21stCB one (or I guess it's the other way.) Angry fast punk is always the way to go. I quite miss this side of them.

This is one of GD's songs that I never listened to as much as the others. But I love the lyrics a lot.

The lyrics to this song are great. Very relatable, especially the first line, at least in my eyes. Not one of my favorites, but I like it. :)

I had this song stuck in my head earlier. :)

It's not one of my favorites, but I love it. I'm listening to it right now, I haven't listened to it in forever.

I love this song, and all of Insomniac, for that matter. Hell, I love everything by Green Day, but you all know what I mean.
