tvrman Posted October 29, 2009 Posted October 29, 2009 As many of us have recently seen GD, and because tours can take years to come around, let this old rocker make a suggestion; at least once in your life go on holiday to see your favourite band. Use GD as an excuse to go somewhere different. For example, grab some tickets for eg a Japan date, then sort out your travel itinerary - and probably visit Japan for the only time in your life, and get to see Green Day as well. (fwiw Japan is a great place !!!!)I urge fans to do something like this - I have done so on three occasions (not with Green Day, I admit), and they were the best times ever. In my younger days I once flew to LA just to see a 2 gigs in 2 nights at the Roxy and then returned the following day. I was so excited and so knackered afterwards it took a week to recover, but I still remember every moment like it was yesterday (and I got to go backstage..but that is another story). You may not do it today (especially the younger members), but remember this post.tvrman
novacaine_kid Posted October 29, 2009 Posted October 29, 2009 I'm already planning something like this. I'm hoping to see a few shows next time they tour the US. Preferably California, but if not, New York or Florida would do. I'm already saving for it flights to the states are pretty reasonably priced these days so I reckon its possible. Would be great to see them outside of the UK and also get a bit of a holiday at the same time

SF is probably my favourite place in the US, lovely city and area and I have good friends there.tvrman
colour_me_stupid_ Posted October 29, 2009 Posted October 29, 2009 For sure, this is something I plan on doing, depending on my money situation of course. Im going to college next year, (well thats the plan ), and in my second and third years I get to spend 2 six-month periods abroad, because Im going to study languages. So hopefully Green Day will be touring where I will be at that time! And when I go travelling after college, maybe I will base on it a Green Day tour, if they are touring then, and follow them all around the world..
greendaytone Posted October 29, 2009 Posted October 29, 2009 Wholeheartedly agree!I did this to go see Foxboro Hot Tubs and recently to follow them on tour through the UK and Ireland. Had the time(s) of my life. And you get to meet so many wonderful, like minded, people.
Specs_101 Posted October 29, 2009 Posted October 29, 2009 I can see me doing this in a few years time
GDM Posted October 29, 2009 Posted October 29, 2009 I did this to see the musical at Berkeley and just went back to London for the shows at the O2. I'm mentally planning on visiting South America for the first time if the GD tour dates work out with dates and stuff. Anybody up for South America, particularly if they hit it in March, let me know. Argentina, Chile and Brazil are on my mind!
The Disappearing Boy Posted October 29, 2009 Posted October 29, 2009 lol, now that sounds like an idea.
tvrman Posted October 29, 2009 Author Posted October 29, 2009 Wholeheartedly agree! And you get to meet so many wonderful, like minded, people.Absolutely !, meeting complete strangers with something in common. And, if you are staying, you can make new friends or get great tips on enjoying your stay.tvrman
green_melly Posted October 29, 2009 Posted October 29, 2009 when i'm a lttle bit older i'm hopefully able to do this ... but right now... i'm not full-aged and don't have the money for it.
Hanamay Posted October 29, 2009 Posted October 29, 2009 This is a brilliant thing to suggest and already one I have been considering. I have seen Green Day twice, once at Milton Keynes and most recently at London. Both times I was determined to make it into a mini weekend break, particularly with London as the following day I visited the recent Green Day art exhibition, some other galleries, went to Camden Market etc. But now that I’ve turned eighteen it’s really possible for me to travel to US for one of their shows as I think it would be an amazing idea and something I’d never forget. The only issue is money but I am determined to do it at least once. Edit: Sorry, I re-wrote out my post because for some reason I messed up and pressed a button and it sent out a half-written comment!
BuriedInAHole Posted October 29, 2009 Posted October 29, 2009 I wish I could visit the UK concerts at the moment..But I only travled for other bands But I surely will visit a Green Day UK concert on their next tour!
Juliette Posted October 29, 2009 Posted October 29, 2009 Definatly doing this asap. If they're still touring over the summer then I'm so going for it, it's just getting time off uni that's stopping me!
Psycho Britney Posted October 29, 2009 Posted October 29, 2009 If only I'd had the money... America was calling me.
tvrman Posted October 29, 2009 Author Posted October 29, 2009 What really helps keeping costs down is that you can end up going to places out of season. The weather might not be brill but that is the least of your worries, so bear that in mind in your choice of destination.tvrman
captain peroxide Posted October 29, 2009 Posted October 29, 2009 If the stars align and the dates happen to match, then I'm flying to Argentina to see Green Day. That's not the main reason, but we're hoping it could happen.
Tubbie Head Posted October 29, 2009 Posted October 29, 2009 I plan to do something like that, yes!!! But.. Only on the next tour..
Anja Posted October 29, 2009 Posted October 29, 2009 Agree with every word. I went to L.A. to see "Heart like a hand grenade" and just went to London last week for the O2 Shows. I met the nicest, funniest, greatest people out there! Green Day and traveling are my favorite things so what could be better than to do both at the same time??
E!!i Posted October 29, 2009 Posted October 29, 2009 When I have money I want to go to the USA and go there on a Green Day concert. The best place would be the Bay Area.
minorityxdisturbed Posted October 29, 2009 Posted October 29, 2009 I'll do it with my two best friends around Europe and part of USA when one of them and me will be 18 becouse we're 16 right now, but anyway we'll do it, it's a promise that we did and it's our dream.
jenni Posted October 29, 2009 Posted October 29, 2009 That's something I'm gonna do next summer hopefully, if Green Day will be back in Europe next summer (=> BIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIG THANKS to my parents who agreed to follow me in my Green Day trip! Without them... it'd be impossible!)
Nikki_Nimrod Posted October 29, 2009 Posted October 29, 2009 If I was on my own and had the money, i'd definitely have done it already! I can't imagine how much fun it must be. But I'm hoping i'll be able to do this on the second leg of the North American tour with all the North Eastern tour dates, if the dates are in the summer. It'd seriously be a dream come true for me!
Guest Shangri-La Posted October 29, 2009 Posted October 29, 2009 I did this to see the musical at Berkeley and just went back to London for the shows at the O2. Argentina, Chile and Brazil are on my mind!Holy shit i didn't even think about South America. I'm going to start saving right now. I was planning on rocktober but funds ran out early on my Green Day adventures this summer.
Princess Consuela Posted October 29, 2009 Posted October 29, 2009 That is something I would totally love to do. Money is the serious issue in my case, though. Buttt I'm already thinking about going to England for the next leg of the tour.
