gehrc Posted October 21, 2009 Posted October 21, 2009 Hey Guys,I've been doing a Graphic Design project where I'll be making a cover for Cigarettes and Valentines. While doing some research, I came across this little ditty here.http://www.4shared.com/file/91501130/2a5c5...bout_Today.html Not sure about it. It's horrible quality, but it does kind of sound like Billie. Thought I'd put it out to the Community and see what you guys thought. Don't worry - I didn't get a virus from that site, so you should be good if you're worried about that.
gehrc Posted October 22, 2009 Author Posted October 22, 2009 BLeh nevermind - I found a zip in the forums that had it in there.
Opezi Posted October 22, 2009 Posted October 22, 2009 omg i love your ava. cats eating corn is such an epic win lol
Hermione Posted October 22, 2009 Posted October 22, 2009 I haven't downloaded it yet but is it one of the songs from those GD.com messages Billie did in 2001/2002? I think it is, he left these little phone messages for fans to listen to on the site, and in some of them he played songs down the phone (hence the bad quality).I'm not entirely sure but I think this particular song is a cover.
greendayfan_0491 Posted October 22, 2009 Posted October 22, 2009 I've heard that The Network album has some songs that were supposed to be on Cigarettes and Valentines. I also saw one song that could have been Wake Me Up When September Ends on the track listing for Cigarettes and Valentines.
deadair Posted October 22, 2009 Posted October 22, 2009 I thought the C&V tracklisting with the working title for "Wake Me Up When September Ends" was a fake?
gehrc Posted October 22, 2009 Author Posted October 22, 2009 Hey at this point, It's anyone's guess. I wish I would have found all these track listings before I had printed out my final project. I just borrowed some of them from FHT's and The Network.Honestly, I think Shoplifter, Governator, maybe Too Much Too Soon were meant to be on C&V. The least likely of those being Too Much Too Soon because it follows the AI format.Actually, remember on Storytellers, Billie mentions that Wake Me Up When September Ends is the track that falls away from the album the most. Wouldn't surprise me if I'll Be There When September Ends became the version we all know and love. What was this I read about a box set coming out this year? Someone linked this to maybe C&V? Can anyone elaborate?
Velocity Posted October 22, 2009 Posted October 22, 2009 What was this I read about a box set coming out this year? Someone linked this to maybe C&V? Can anyone elaborate? The box set is just a collection of about 20 vinyl singles spanning Green Day's career. The only songs that aren't on the studio albums are Network and FHT songs, nothing from C&V.
Liam Posted October 22, 2009 Posted October 22, 2009 I thought the C&V tracklisting with the working title for "Wake Me Up When September Ends" was a fake?it probably was but it had this track in it which is from a message from greenday.com
basKT_case90 Posted October 22, 2009 Posted October 22, 2009 sounds a bit like 'Spike' by the Network
Daughter.of.Rage.and.Love Posted October 22, 2009 Posted October 22, 2009 Oh I remember the so-called tracks from C&V.2 of them were "I'll Be There When September Ends" (just sounded like an older version of WMUWSE) and Teenagers From Mars (directly copied from the Network album).(Is that the one velvetgrass was talking about?)
Jacob. Posted October 22, 2009 Posted October 22, 2009 they should release minnesota girlthat would be awsomeEDIT: i found a cover of this song Here

It's also on a CD called Nize Crap, it's called World vs World there though. Anyway the CD is from the beginning of the 90s and contains Green Day songs from 1988-1993, so I doubt it has anything to do with C&V.
Daughter.of.Rage.and.Love Posted October 22, 2009 Posted October 22, 2009 ^ I completely forgot about that! And I'd never even heard of that CD.By the way from what documentary (I guess it is a documentary, well) is that video fragment? I've always wondered and would like to see it....

I've always wondered and would like to see it....It's just a compilation if live tracks, cover songs and those "unknown" songs like What about today... but the quality isn't that great.I think the video is from VH1 "Driven"... MTV also showed it as "MTV Masters Green Day" though.
thisisAB Posted October 25, 2009 Posted October 25, 2009 Oh I remember the so-called tracks from C&V.2 of them were "I'll Be There When September Ends" (just sounded like an older version of WMUWSE) and Teenagers From Mars (directly copied from the Network album).(Is that the one velvetgrass was talking about?)I could believe the Wake Me Up one. And I think some of the C&V stuff was changed up to give it a new wave sound and put on The Network album. That is, if C&V ever existed. They could've just written the song C&V (played at the San Jose sound check) and maybe 1-2 others (possibly Shoplifter being one of them, cause it's not really Warning and not really AI) and claimed to have had an whole album, which was stolen, so they could start from scratch.
