Trina Posted October 3, 2009 Posted October 3, 2009 Happy 9th Anniversary Warning!! Warning was released on October 3rd 2000. It's Green Day's 6th album. It reached number four on the Billboard charts and went gold. Despite a fairly good critical response (where it was noted Green Day's sound had matured), it is seen as the lowest commercial slump in the band's career since 39/Smooth. It sold the least out of all Green Day's major label albums (and Kerplunk!). It was their first major label album to not have Rob Cavallo as producer, although he is credited as executive producer. The singles were Minority, Warning, Waiting and Macy's Day Parade.Discuss anything related to this album! So, I remember buying Warning along with Dookie and Nimrod in a 3 for 30euro offer in our irish music store, Zhivagos. I think it was in maybe March 2005 or something. I was 11. I remember running home to listen to them! I had already heard the singles on International Superhits and stuff. I loved Warning on first listen and was slightly suprised at the different styles and such. Anyways, I'd say Warning is maybe my most listened to cd. I adore each song (including the awesome live version of 86 that's on mine!). I also have alot of love for the cover! It's quite sad but so pretty and really goes well with the music on the album! My favorite songs from it would be Church On Sunday(maybe an all time favorite!), Misery and Macy's Day Parade. I also adore Castaway, Hold On and Deadbeat Holiday. All the songs are amazing though. This album means alot to me.Here's a delicious live performance of Church On Sunday.
Tubbie Head Posted October 3, 2009 Posted October 3, 2009 WhooohooooooooooooooHappy anniversary WARNING! :wub:This is an absolutely amazing Green Day album! Very underated in my opinion
Harriet Posted October 3, 2009 Posted October 3, 2009 This is so weird, I had no idea that it was today and yet Warning was the first song i heard today
Lauren Posted October 3, 2009 Posted October 3, 2009 am I the only one who realizes that 2000 was 9 years ago, not 8?!Fixed the title :wink:LOL thanks
NowhereBound Posted October 3, 2009 Posted October 3, 2009 I don't understand why everyone hated Warning. All they wanted to do was to take a different musical direction...anyway I have always loved this album and I always will.
Tubbie Head Posted October 3, 2009 Posted October 3, 2009 I'm going to listen to the whole album right now to celebrate
Lauren Posted October 3, 2009 Posted October 3, 2009 I don't understand why everyone hated Warning. All they wanted to do was to take a different musical direction...anyway I have always loved this album and I always will.for me, I like the music. but for the punks that were into Dookie and stuff like that, not everyone of them likes softer music as well.
NowhereBound Posted October 3, 2009 Posted October 3, 2009 for me, I like the music. but for the punks that were into Dookie and stuff like that, not everyone of them likes softer music as well.Good point...
gabbag Posted October 3, 2009 Posted October 3, 2009 Yay I love Warning! I am going to listen to it today to celebrate
Trina Posted October 3, 2009 Author Posted October 3, 2009 Wait... wouldn't that be 9 years? Sorry! I'm awful with dates. Still in 2008...It's going to be 2010 soon. That's ridiculous!Very underated in my opinionI agree! I think it's absolutly incredible and deserves alot more recognition.Fixed the title :wink:Thank you!!for me, I like the music. but for the punks that were into Dookie and stuff like that, not everyone of them likes softer music as well. That's a bullshit reason for them. You'll find alot of real punks actually appreciate Warning. People had more of a problem with Dookie than Warning. They like it because it's rootsy. People trying to pass themselves off as punk say they don't like Warning just because they're trying to be haRdCOre!!11God, I fucking love this album so much.
norcalgreendayfan Posted October 3, 2009 Posted October 3, 2009 Wow 9 Years already how time flies, it still amazes me the low numbers in sales this album recieved since I thought it was a very good album of theirs
emmaILGD! Posted October 3, 2009 Posted October 3, 2009 This is the album that got me into Green Day, and I still love it as much as I did back then . Happy Birthday, you beautiful inanimate object!
AndrewW91 Posted October 3, 2009 Posted October 3, 2009 Warning has been my favorite Green Day album since I bought it, it was also my first Green Day album.Oh how I love me some Warning!Happy birthday!
Supermodel*Robot Posted October 3, 2009 Posted October 3, 2009 I think I have some strange psychic ability when it comes to these anniversaries. I've been listening to the full album every morning this week. Which is exactly what happened with the AI anniversary. I've always had mixed feelings about this album. Some days I just think it's too mellow to listen to. But then other days I'm in awe of the rich lyrics and texture to the songs. I think it's something you have to listen to closely to fully appreciate it. Take Church on Sunday - something changes in Billie's voice in that song. It's really subtle, but it shows how he's affected by what he's singing. This album is the start of a different realm of lyricism too; I love the lyrics to songs like Fashion Victim.
Daughter.of.Rage.and.Love Posted October 3, 2009 Posted October 3, 2009 Happy Birthday Warning! It's a cool album, it used to be one of my favourite albums by Green Day, but lately I haven't been much into it.... I still like it a lot, but less than before... but oh well, I'll probably like it more in a little time. It's the first Green Day album I heard fully (well, actually I heard BIAB the audio first, but that's not really an album). I can't remember what I thought of it, though, since I was in school and used it as background music for the boring subjects xD
Sara. Posted October 3, 2009 Posted October 3, 2009 Happy 9th Anniversary!! I really love warning!I think the whole album is very underrated.
Jesus*Of*Suburbia Posted October 3, 2009 Posted October 3, 2009 I love Warning, it's one of my favorite albums.
