this song is getting more and more important for me. :/

"She dangles from her necklace"

this line  is such a weird thing.

the more i read the lyrics the more I understand that this song is irrelevant to what Billie said about it!!!!!

She's old enough to bleed now...

I take it I'm not the only one who thought about periods when Billie sang that line?

no. it could be period,it could be hymen's hurt, it could be getting hurt like injuries for a 5 year old girl, etc.

he uses Bleed most of the time.

It's all how you interpret it - Billie's lyrics seem to have many meanings depending on how you see it. I'm sure he didn't lie when he explained what the song was about, parinaz, but even he probably has more than one meaning for each song.

I never say he lies about songs :) and it's not only billie whose lyrics have more than one meanings.

Maybe I misunderstood what you said. 'the more i read the lyrics the more I understand that this song is irrelevant to what Billie said about it!!!!!' You meant that it has a different meaning than what he said it was about?

Of course there are others who do the same thing, but I thought we were talking about Green Day here... :)

Yes, I agree

This is such a sweet song

I really really hope they release it, a studio version would sound so good

the line "She's old enough to bleed now" is one of my favourite parts... so sweet and cute to hear idk

About the period thing, I like to think that's the meaning of it..

The first time I heard it (and every time after) I always assumed "she's old enough to bleed now" meant she's old enough to go out on her own, do her own thing, and handle being hurt by it (ie, bleed). Or that he is ok letting go of her because she's grown up and he's ok with letting her figure out life on her own, accepting that good and bad things will happen to her (ie, bad things make her hurt/bleed).

I never thought of period until I came to this thread... and that kind of grossed me out, haha.

I doubt he'd sing about a girl getting her period... I'm under the impression that guys are squeamish about that stuff. Based off the fact that all the guys I know pass out at the mention of cramps/nausea, let alone saying the word 'period'.

I really love this song but I think that it has a darker meaning than what it sounds like...'dangling from her necklace' That sounds a whole lot like hanging yourself does it not? And that 'she's old enough to bleed now' could be cutting herself. And 'she's going physco.' That's how all self harmers feel. Physco. Coming from an insider on this subject, I think that's what it is...

I even think the line "Daddy´s little bundle of joy out of a magazine " can be understood in different ways. I like that. But it´s creepy though...

I always liked to think it was maybe about a daughter Billie never had, because he has said in interviews he wanted one right? But after reading this thread . . .

@inthehallwaynow:

It´s not a "problem", as you might suggest. It´s just, the closer you look, the more interpretations you can find. Even if BJ hadn´t meant it to be ambigious. I remember from another forum that the line "she holds my malakite so tight" from "2000 lightyears away" lead to some weird interpretations...

You're turning what I thought it was a very sweet song into a evil one!

Why? Do you take over what others think about the lyrics and it´s possible meaning? Everyone has his own way of looking at things. Why make them yours...?

I never said that said, I said that they are turning a very sweet song into a evil one, but I never said that now I think it's evil I still think it's sweet

Guest RedStrokes

I always thought this song was about about a gorgeous model who was used as a sexual object since childhood. So therefore she lost her innocence and is trying to find god in a weary world. She struggles with problems (perhaps anorexia and attempted suicide), eventually though she gives up all hope and feels like she's going psycho due to her abuse and other problems in her life.

"She is so wild and reckless" - this is pretty simple, just describing the girl

"She dangles from her necklace"- somebody already said it but I think this is a metaphor for trying hanging herself, if this is true then it's a fantastic metaphor because the way she's judged solely on her looks and the self hatered meet perfectly here

"Daddy's little bundle of joy out of a magazine"- I think this means the girl was once or is close with her father. Out of a magazine I believe is just stating she works as a model

"Everyone's drama queen is old enough to bleed now" - I cracked up when a few people thought its about her period, well fuck it could be knowing Billie. Anyway I just think it means that the girls old enough to experience life and reap what she sows and take responsibility for her actions. She's not a little kid.

"Her life is now unfolding"- same as old enough to bleed now, except for a more literal meaning

"Hey little drama queen, did you find your savior?"- the girl here is trying to find meaning in her life, trying to find god. The narrator (Billie) asks her this somewhat cruelly, so we can assume she didn't do this in a very nice way :/

"Everyone's drama queen I think she's going psycho"- after the pain she been through the girl finally snaps and stats to go psycho.

Or maybe I'm reading into it.....

(For how long didn't we have a song of the week?)
