We just posted up J'net's review of the American Idiot musical. Stop by the follow link to read it

The basis of this show is Green Day’s superb music – American Idiot. It’s obvious that someone who revered this work was paying deep attention to every nuance in translating it to the stage. The way chances are taken with the songs as they are interpreted, transitioned and mixed with each other leaves them surprisingly true to the originals. The overall experience of this production actually adds dimension to a work I thought I understood through and through.

Great! I'm not gonna read it until tomorrow (at 11:22 pm my brain usually can't concentrate on texts longer than 10 lines xD), but I'm sure it'll be good :)

@J'net - Loved your review. If this gig makes it to Broadway (which it better, dammit! :)) it'll be on my bucket list to go see!

Absolutely amazing article!

I loved her description, and the fact that it was coming from a true fan of 15 years. I could tell that she had a deep understanding of the band and their music because of that.

Honestly, I've never attended a musical, at all.

But her writing makes me wish I lived closer to Berkeley then all the way out here by the rockies.

Amazing piece J'Net.

Well done.

I really enjoyed reading your thoughts on the AI musical. I got a better sense of it than I did from most of the reviews I had already read. I was most impressed by your discussion of the Johnny/St. Jimmy character(s) -- how each is a part of the other, so that underlying the prominent character/persona, is still the other one. That each is a part of each. It sounds like the actor playing St. Jimmy was really phenomenal.

By the way, I've seen many musicals, as well as some opera. Some have a more developed story thru dialogue and song, some don't. The idea that all have to be fleshed out entirely is ridiculous. So I am well prepared to view this musical in the same way I did the album, at the same time, experiencing how others saw and interpreted it.

Really impressive review. Thanks, J'net.
