Guest Posted September 14, 2009 Posted September 14, 2009 LinkIt's rather depressing that Miley Cyrus has sold twice as many copies but meh, and don't call them losers you bastard! The numbers are in!The past 12 months have treated many artists in the music industry extreeeemely well, while others haven't had quite the same luck with their new releases. So who came out on top???The biggest albums of the year sales-wise appear to be Taylor Swift's Fearless (3.7 million copies sold), Michael Jackson's #1's (3 million!!), Beyonce's I Am… Sasha Fierce (2.4 million) and rounding out the bunch is the ever-popular Twilight soundtrack, which sold a massive 2.2 million copies.Honorable mentions?Check out the list:Miley Cyrus (Hannah Montana Soundtrack) 1.5 million copiesMiley Cyrus BREAKOUT 1.5 million copiesLady GaGa 1.4 million copiesPink 1.3 million copiesEminem 1.4 million copiesBritney Spears 1.6 million copiesRascal Flatts 1 million copiesDavid Cook 1.2 million copiesJason Mraz 1.3 million copiesNeYo 1.1 million copiesKaty Perry 1.1 million copiesKanye West 1.6 million copiesU2 1 Million copiesDave Matthews Band 900,000 copiesMaxwell 750,000 copiesThis year has seen its fair share of bombs as well! Not everyone can do well! The Jonas Brothers fever must be cooling, because the boys only managed to sell 520,000 copies of their new album!Disney darling Demi Lovato also bombed big time, pushing only 240,000 copies of Here We Go Again.Other losers include Jordin Sparks (105,000 copies), Green Day (750,000 units) and Miz Kelly Clarkson, who sold 675,000 copies of her new album.
Foxboro Hot Tubs Posted September 14, 2009 Posted September 14, 2009 well, the breakdown isn't over yet ...
Kimpsu Posted September 14, 2009 Posted September 14, 2009 Well, it's quite good number of sales. I mean, it's been on stores just 4 months or something like that.
GDM Posted September 14, 2009 Posted September 14, 2009 Perez Hilton is a piece of crap. That is all.
Tiffx Posted September 14, 2009 Posted September 14, 2009 lol when they say 21CB 'bombed' clearly they are talking about mainstream music, and when you see artists like Miley Cyrus selling millions and managing to appeal to the mainstream... Well it's not an insult to Green Day's work, rather a reflection of how fucking stupid the mainstream can be. It's definitely going downhill anyway along with people's intellectual willingness to engage with music rather than swallow up the shit thrown at them. That's my own personal rant anyway. As long as the fans appreciate good music then nothing else matters.
emmaILGD! Posted September 14, 2009 Posted September 14, 2009 As long as the fans appreciate good music then nothing else matters.Couldn't agree more.I couldn't care less about album sales, as long as I like it and it makes me happy, then that's fine
Trina Posted September 14, 2009 Posted September 14, 2009 I just seen this on PerezHilton a few minutes ago. What I'm wondering is this for all sales or for USA only and also is it how many were actually sold or how many were sold to shops, if that makes sense...Anyways, it doesn't seem great really but it doesn't really matter. It's an incredible album and Green Day are the best band out there.
Agija Posted September 14, 2009 Posted September 14, 2009 Well, it's quite good number of sales. I mean, it's been on stores just 4 months or something like that.QFT.
Daughter.of.Rage.and.Love Posted September 14, 2009 Posted September 14, 2009 Well that's really nice And indeed, it's only been out for 4 months.but:Honorable mentions?Maxwell 750,000 copiesOther losers include Green Day (750,000 units)wtf?Or is a unit something else than a copy?
thecomedian Posted September 14, 2009 Posted September 14, 2009 750k is not bad considering that the album has not even had any huge hit single yet. When AI was released, AI, BoBD, Holiday and WMUWSE were played constantly on radio. If 21CB( or East Jesus Nowhere) becomes a big hit, the album will murder the charts.Actually you shouldn't even read that word "loser". Perez Hilton is such an idiot that I have no respect towards him. I mean, he got beat up and he didn't call cops. Instead he wrote about it on twitter.
davegrohllover Posted September 14, 2009 Posted September 14, 2009 The album was simply amazing and i can't get enough of it. I can't believe they didn't sell more of them.
Anja Posted September 14, 2009 Posted September 14, 2009 Losers? What´s "losing" about seeling 750.000 within only 5 months? Pahaha
Guest Posted September 14, 2009 Posted September 14, 2009 Well that's really nice And indeed, it's only been out for 4 months.but:wtf?Or is a unit something else than a copy?I thought this too...
jenni Posted September 14, 2009 Posted September 14, 2009 I think this guy is jealous of Green Day, that's it!!!
Mommy's Little Nightmare Posted September 14, 2009 Posted September 14, 2009 How can Maxwell have 750,000 copies, and be up with the 'best selling' and yet, Green Day have sold the same, and are being told they bombed?Anyway, they still debuted at number 1, and have like... the best album of the year, so... whoever wrote that can suck it.

I was about to say the exact same thing. And I agree. It debuted at #1, they've gotten 3 VMA's for this album, and they are definitely going to be at least nominated for a Grammy. I doubt some of these other artists have that under their belts.
poisonoak Posted September 14, 2009 Posted September 14, 2009 you'll just wait miley and taylor, you'll see... we shall rise above ...you'll all see muhhhaahahahaha!!!! :starwars:

Nuff Said, let's all go back a listen to Restless Heart Syndrome, shall we?I just seen this on PerezHilton a few minutes ago.
