Heather.asdf Posted August 31, 2009 Posted August 31, 2009 when you first heard the song what did you think?did you go out and buy the album?did you listen to the lyrics and feel saddened? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-qrGCMuDIUA...feature=relatedAs soon as your born they make you feel small,By giving you no time instead of it all,Till the pain is so big you feel nothing at all,A working class hero is something to be,A working class hero is something to be.They hurt you at home and they hit you at school,They hate you if you're clever and they despise a fool,Till you're so fucking crazy you can't follow their rules,A working class hero is something to be,A working class hero is something to be.When they've tortured and scared you for twenty odd years,Then they expect you to pick a career,When you can't really function you're so full of fear,A working class hero is something to be,A working class hero is something to be.Keep you doped with religion and sex and TV,And you think you're so clever and classless and free,But you're still fucking peasants as far as I can see,A working class hero is something to be,A working class hero is something to be.There's room at the top they are telling you still,But first you must learn how to smile as you kill,If you want to be like the folks on the hill,A working class hero is something to be.A working class hero is something to be.If you want to be a hero well just follow me,If you want to be a hero well just follow me.i apologize if theirs already a thread
thenextsexpistol_mak Posted August 31, 2009 Posted August 31, 2009 its a good song.i liked the video. sam bayer is a genius
Kaddi. Posted August 31, 2009 Posted August 31, 2009 It makes me sad every time I listen to it... and yeah, I also bought the album Make Some Noise (I think this is what it's called) and there are some more nice songs on it
GarinRichards Posted August 31, 2009 Posted August 31, 2009 Directed really awesomely. As for the song. I like it better than the original.
drumstick Posted August 31, 2009 Posted August 31, 2009 It always makes me cry! I really love it! Both, the song and the video are awesome! And the lyrics are great!I love it
thisisAB Posted August 31, 2009 Posted August 31, 2009 As for the song. I like it better than the original.Yeah that's really rare nowadays, but they did an awesome job with the song.
The Disappearing Boy Posted August 31, 2009 Posted August 31, 2009 i like the song, but i didn't fell sad and i didn't buy the album.
Lauren Posted August 31, 2009 Posted August 31, 2009 I didn't even know it was John Lennon until my mom pointed it out. I first heard it on American Idol and I thought "Oh, God, please don't let this be the new Green Day..." but it wasn't! It was just a cover. I actually like John Lennon (but mainly just The Beatles), but I didn't think it was a right style for Green Day. However, they did a REALLY good job at the cover. I think I like it better than the original.
Anja Posted August 31, 2009 Posted August 31, 2009 I love this song. They did a great cover. And yep, I bought the album but this was the only song on it I really likes (there are a few good ones but I don´t really care bout them). I kinda regret it now that I need money for the tour But oh well. For the song, it was definitely worth it.
Astrid. Posted August 31, 2009 Posted August 31, 2009 Great song, great cover.Great to sing along with
.Militza. Posted August 31, 2009 Posted August 31, 2009 I think that song is the best cover they did. And the video is good, I personally like it, even though I heard some bad comments , because they used victims of natural disasters in this video. Like they wanted to popularize that. I mean God.
Princess Consuela Posted August 31, 2009 Posted August 31, 2009 I like it, though prefer Marilyn Manson's version.
Jimmy the Kid Posted August 31, 2009 Posted August 31, 2009 Directed really awesomely. As for the song. I like it better than the original.Blasphemy! Not better than the original in any way...
dolce Posted August 31, 2009 Posted August 31, 2009 I think they did a great job with the cover. I think Green Day does a good job with all of their cover songs, actually. Working Class Hero is great, and personally I like it better than the original. The original is good too, but Green Day's version gives the song a "fuller" sound, I think.
Nobody_Likes_You Posted August 31, 2009 Posted August 31, 2009 I bought the Album, but I have to admit, that this is the greatest song on it. Even everyone on Amazon Germany says that. I love the song and the video even more, got me into this whole thing. Now I'm donating to Amnesty International whenever I can.
Nikki_Nimrod Posted August 31, 2009 Posted August 31, 2009 I think they did a great job with the cover. I think Green Day does a good job with all of their cover songs, actually. The original is good too, but Green Day's version gives the song a "fuller" sound, I think.This.As much as i LOVE John Lennon, and think the original version is amazing, i still think Green Day brought the song to a whole new level. The video made me tear up the first time i saw it (i know, i'm a sap!) but it was really well done, and i was really touched by all the victim's stories. Unfortunately i couldn't afford to buy the whole album, but i did get the single.
Sarahnade. Posted August 31, 2009 Posted August 31, 2009 Awesome cover, awesome song, awesome music video. It's full of awesomeness.
MassHysteria Posted August 31, 2009 Posted August 31, 2009 Well, the Beatles is my absolute favorite band (Sorry Billie), and John Lennon is my hero. Green Day has one major similarity with him that I love: they stand up for awesome causes, and are not afraid to speak out against the system. This is one of John's best social-commentary songs, and I couldn't think of a better band to cover it.It is one of my favorite Green Day songs, and definitely my favorite cover of theirs

The original is good too, but Green Day's version gives the song a "fuller" sound, I think.This.Technology has changed a lot since WCH was first recorded. Green Day just made the song more modern and spiced it up a bit. They made it their own, while still keeping John Lennon's roots in the song, which I know John Lennon/Beatles fans appreciate. I feel the same way about 'A Quick One,' 'I Fought the Law,' 'Outsider,' and all of their other covers.
LetItBeHappy Posted August 31, 2009 Posted August 31, 2009 I cried. I hate covers and I love John Lennon, so this made me feel very bad. I couldn't listen to the song without feeling angry at green day till.... may, this year? I put it on my mp4 last week, and I haven't listen to it anyways.
rage-love-life Posted August 31, 2009 Posted August 31, 2009 I liked it a lot, and in some ways better than John's. But I think John did better in letting the message get across, while GD's was more idk, musical? And more different from John's message.
Snorri Posted August 31, 2009 Posted August 31, 2009 Better than the original I really like the solo.
Tiffx Posted August 31, 2009 Posted August 31, 2009 I'm in love with their cover. The American Idol performance of this song was just AMAZING.
