Insomniac186 Posted August 24, 2009 Posted August 24, 2009 I found this CD at Rasputin Records in Campbell, California the other day. It appears to be a Chinese(?) copy of American Idiot. I own/have owned many different import versions of AI but I've never seen this before. See pictures below. I have some questions for any collectors...is this real or is it a bootleg? Has anyone seen this before or does anyone own another copy? The catalog number is H1725, and the label is Sony Music Asia, which is strange because GD's label is Warner/Reprise. The front of the disc has a picture of a forest on the front, but it has the right songs! The back of the disc is gold. The artwork behind the disc is a picture from International Superhits. The CD booklet has lyrics and nothing else.
Angela. Posted August 24, 2009 Posted August 24, 2009 Whoa, what the hell? I've never seen that before. I like it, though.
Seedless_Reject Posted August 24, 2009 Posted August 24, 2009 I want it.The picture on the CD kind of reminds me of a scene from a horror movie or Twilight
Wolfdemon Posted August 24, 2009 Posted August 24, 2009 It kinda looks like a bootleg since the picture below the CD is from the International Superhits Era. I'm not sure though
farley drexel hatcher Posted August 24, 2009 Posted August 24, 2009 You can usually tell if it's bootleg by the paper used and the picture quality ... but sometimes different countries do change the packaging a bit. I know a version of BIAB that has a Warning era photo on the back and it's totally legit.Either way it's pretty cool
woven_basketcase Posted August 24, 2009 Posted August 24, 2009 the picture on the CD is wicked cool. almost better than the original AI.
Chelsea Hotel Posted August 24, 2009 Posted August 24, 2009 Yeah, you can usually tell if it's a bootleg by the quality of the paper/packaging. Compare the case with other official CDs you have; the "Disc" logo I saw in the pictures of the case makes me suspicious, it looks generic.
Starred Thoughts Posted August 24, 2009 Posted August 24, 2009 On just the cover and back alone I assumed a Chinese version of American Idiot, but the picture of the forest and ISH picture has me thrown off..
thenextsexpistol_mak Posted August 24, 2009 Posted August 24, 2009 i have a copy of 21st cb that has the lyrics for Viva la gloria! where the lyrics for Little Girl are supposed to be, the lyrics for Little girl are just not in my booklet, and im pretty sure that all the 21stcb cds that first arrived to that tower records store have that mistake, cause i bought another copy later and it had the same mistake
Raychul Posted August 24, 2009 Posted August 24, 2009 I like how they changed it to 'American Ldiot'.
rage-love-life Posted August 24, 2009 Posted August 24, 2009 I like how they changed it to 'American Ldiot'.I didn't notice that. I'm oblivious.
Sharmellow Posted August 24, 2009 Posted August 24, 2009 That inside picture looks like the picture of the back of International Super Hits, so maybe it's the real deal? I don't know, could be a bootleg. Anyway, great find. I want one.
Sarahnade. Posted August 24, 2009 Posted August 24, 2009 Wow, that's rad.I've never seen that before. Totally awesome!
mallorymaloney Posted August 24, 2009 Posted August 24, 2009 It's gotta be a bootleg --- It's too fucking weird to be an actual legit copy. o_O;
