Jet Taman Posted July 27, 2009 Posted July 27, 2009 After seeing my sig, a lot of people have asked me about the story of asking my wife to marry me at a Green Day concert....If you don't feel like poring through my intro and my about me page, here it is....it gave me chills rewriting this....June 24th, 2001--Warning tour"I've been waiting a long time, for this moment to come I'm destined for anything at all"...As soon as that line of the song "Waiting" played, my heart beat a mile a minute. I was with my girlfriend at our first Green Day concert together, and I had an engagement ring in my pocket. I was going to propose during this song. I practiced doing it over and over, the timing, the question, I even went to the concert the night before to make sure they played "Waiting" and when.So during the middle of the song when all instruments stop except for Billie Joe's guitar and his voice singing, I turned to my girlfriend and sang along with Billie Joe...."I'VE BEEN WAITING A LIFETIME FOR THIS MOMENT TO COME I'M DESTINED FOR ANYTHING AT ALL..." then during the silence I got down on my knee and said "Will you spend the rest of your life with me?" she screamed "OF COURSE I WILL!!!" the music came in with a loud"DUMBSTRUCK, COLOR ME STUPID, GOOD LUCK YOU'RE GONNA NEED IT!!!!" I picked her up, kissed her, and we left the concert. The next year we got married and the song as we walked down the aisle was "Church on Sunday" opening with "TODAY IS THE FIRST DAY OF THE REST OF OUR LIVES". We were then re-introduced as "Waiting" played for us.My wife and I had our son in 2006 and he is a huge Green Day fan....check him out at these YouTube sites.....Singing Jesus of Suburbiahttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4JFmoB1Sle0Singing American Idiothttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OpYKkE5c4uMAmerican Idiot again...http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y6VIVnUijuoAnd my favorite....http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3HE29kKhE38...looking forward to watching the show from the seats in DC with my wife next week.
