I don't think so...

The songs on Dookie are primarily about being young, confused, angry, bored, etc., but I wouldn't call it a story.

They're definitely related in topic, and in feeling. No linear story though.

I think it would be kind of intriguing to see the plot that people could come up with based on the songs off Dookie...

We know it wasn't written with the intent of forming a linear narrative, but it could be cool to see what we fans could create.

I know what you mean, I think you could really say that about most albums. I find with Green Day the themes of the songs can easily make it seem like each album is set in it's own little universe. There isn't a specific story or characters but it still feels like I'm there in that little world seeing what's going on.

I find that each album has a common theme to it.

Totally, I've noticed some work more easily into a story than others... I think part of it comes from the fact that the band is going through different stages of life personally when they write and it just displays in billie's lyrics and the music styling...

Yeah, it definitely feels like each album is in its own little world and has its own seperate feel.

No.

Related, but no story line... except for the band member's lives.

I find most Green Day albums has some type of relation.

yeah its just random lol coming clean is about billie coming out about being bi lol

I think every Green Day album has songs on it that compliment others. They kinda have the same sound and lyrics that are similar, too. But it's probably just because they were made at the same time. If there was a Kerplunk song on American Idiot, you could most likely tell it doesn't fit.

I just re-read that it it didn't really make sense

This, I concur with. Sorry that was off topic.

On topic: I am now inspired to pick an album and write a short story with it, using a song per chapter/paragraph or something.

PS: We have the same name.

Wow, that would be awesome to see what you could come up with for a short story!

If I do end up writing one I will post something in here to let you guys know that it's up... I haven't written anything in forever, let alone a story. We'll see how bored I get this summer.

Theyre all about boredom and stuff but theres no real story

People need to stop looking for rock operas. Rock operas are often bloated and pretentious. Just look at The Black Parade, The Wall, and even Tommy. I love Tommy and I have respect for The Wall, but they're so hugely flawed and bloated it's unbelievable.

I don't remember where it was but somewhere on here called American Idiot the only "real" Green Day album because the others are just randomly arranged songs. If you ask me, I really, really, really want Green Day to stop doing rock operas (given that 21cb isn't a rock opera, but they need to stop even flirting with that idea).

Sometimes I do. But I can't find the connection in between all songs.
