jesus the rage guy Posted June 24, 2009 Posted June 24, 2009 to me, at least, reminds me to some stupid chaos about whatever these days even when everything is ok, seems to be chaos lightning in the air...so, you feel like 21st century breakdown reminds you to the chaos already in your fucking country?
.:Whatsername:. Posted June 24, 2009 Posted June 24, 2009 It reminds me of the chaos going on everywhere in the world these days, not just my own country. There's never a day when you don't hear of something horrible happening somewhere. Just look at Tehran right now. It's sad, really, but I'm glad that the CD (and American Idiot as well, for me) make me think about these kinds of things. Before I discovered Green Day and before American Idiot I could have cared less about what's going on in the world that didn't directly involve me. But thanks to these CD's and the songs I do care now. I've learned differently. Particularly on 21st Century Breakdown, the song 21 Guns. Soooo many things go through my mind when I listen to that song, not just war, which seems to obviously be the main idea behind it. American Eulogy does it too, especially the parts that Mike sings.
Starred Thoughts Posted June 27, 2009 Posted June 27, 2009 definitely. i agree with others - not just my own country, but the whole world as well. we're in shambles right now.
Peace and Rainbows Posted June 27, 2009 Posted June 27, 2009 yes, American Eulogy, Static age and 21st century breakdown and know your enemy. I'll also at before the lobtomy
music_that_is Posted June 27, 2009 Posted June 27, 2009 Not really, no. I can only relate Static Age.I dont think our situation here is like any other country :\
Mrs. Nobody Posted June 27, 2009 Posted June 27, 2009 No. But then i don't really live in a chaotic countrybut it could definitly relate to the world generally(i'm not making sense)
Seedless_Reject Posted June 27, 2009 Posted June 27, 2009 the album does show whats going on not only in the U.S. but the world.
Lauren Posted June 27, 2009 Posted June 27, 2009 not really, but probably because i don't pay attention.
janiliz06 Posted June 27, 2009 Posted June 27, 2009 yeah it kinda remains me especially now with this political mess and other stuff here..and not only here or usa but the world as well...
Pati. Posted June 28, 2009 Posted June 28, 2009 YeahJust like American EulogyThis and Know Your Enemy also.
.Militza. Posted June 28, 2009 Posted June 28, 2009 I would say yes. It does. It's just like they describe the album- Dark, and showing in what world we are living in.But also, that there is a light at the end of the tunnel, and things CAN be better then now. And I'd like to believe that. I brings me some hope that tomorrow will be better.
Jack96 Posted June 29, 2009 Posted June 29, 2009 Australia doesnt have too many problems at the moment and the album doesnt touch on Swine Flu so yeah.
Tiffx Posted June 29, 2009 Posted June 29, 2009 Well American Eulogy particuarly reminds me of all the shit that comes with living in the modern era. Not just in Australia, but everywhere. There is definitely a crisis every week, whether it's a swine flu pandemic, protests like the ones in Tehran or just general instability. Now we have North Korea threatening everyone with nuclear weapons. The crises never seem to end. Mass Hysteria definitely sums it all up for me.

( The Line where Bj says something about niggers throwing something into the hysteria)
louizex Posted June 29, 2009 Posted June 29, 2009 i dont really pay that mention attention to the meaning or storys behind the songs, i get the general idea but i just like a fun song, maybe i should go and have a listen and see how much it actually means to me

jacknovella Posted June 29, 2009 Posted June 29, 2009 While it does speak to me on a global scale, for example, the conflicts in Afghanistan and such, it also speaks to me on a more personal basis. I know that the album reflects the problems in America, some of the same problems can be seen over here. Like the Government falling to pieces like it did here not too long ago.
Kaddi. Posted June 29, 2009 Posted June 29, 2009 Yeah, some parts really do. And some songs totally remind me of what I learned in school about America. This sounds weird, because you usually learn theoretical stuff in school and only half of it is true... but this time it was different.
Jack96 Posted June 30, 2009 Posted June 30, 2009 i'm the opposite.while maybe not into TOO much detail, i pay attention to the meanings behind songs.I try and work out meanings but sometimes im just plain bad at it
