ThrillerIOH11 Posted June 19, 2009 Posted June 19, 2009 Has anyone noticed that Billie Joe is doing a lot more backing vocals than the last album? Its usually always mike but i hear him a lot now. On 21st Century Breakdown he does most if not all of the backing vocals, on before the lobotomy he does the backing in the chorus and the oowees, the backing in Christians inferno, most of whats in the verses in Peacemaker, and most of The Static Age. It may not sound like a lot of songs, but its sure a hell of a lot more than he did on any other CD. wat do you guys think about this?
Jack96 Posted June 19, 2009 Posted June 19, 2009 I never really noticed that Maybe he just wanted to put his voice in it a bit more?
The Disappearing Boy Posted June 19, 2009 Posted June 19, 2009 never noticed. i was surprised that tre didn't do backing on this album, though.
Sharmellow Posted June 19, 2009 Posted June 19, 2009 never noticed. i was surprised that tre didn't do backing on this album, though.I know; I love it when Tre and Mike are involved with the back-up vocals or any singing.
Kryssi. Posted June 19, 2009 Posted June 19, 2009 Tre should get his kinky ass doing more vocals next album 'round.I want me another 'Rock 'n' Roll Girlfriend' type thing going on.
frankiessister Posted June 19, 2009 Posted June 19, 2009 Not true. Billie has always sung lots of background vocals, from day 1 on.I don't know what makes you hear him more now, but he's always been there. If you need proof, listen to the AI backing tracks (somewhere in the audio downlink section).
Haydée Posted June 19, 2009 Posted June 19, 2009 that bitch I want Mike ..I didn't actually noticed but I prefer Mike anyway
death_has_a_shadow Posted June 20, 2009 Posted June 20, 2009 I have noticed that. Yes, Billie has done backing vocals before. But, on 21st Century Breakdown, it seems as if he's done all the backing vocals. I can still hear Mike, but it would have been cool to hear Tre too.
.:Whatsername:. Posted June 20, 2009 Posted June 20, 2009 I don't even notice stuff like that. I don't really care although I do love Mike.
J'net Posted June 20, 2009 Posted June 20, 2009 Not true. Billie has always sung lots of background vocals, from day 1 on.I don't know what makes you hear him more now, but he's always been there. If you need proof, listen to the AI backing tracks (somewhere in the audio downlink section).I agree with you. I have noticed that, on the early albums, Mike in particular did a lot of the backup vocals. Then it seemed like Billie did more and more on each album up through AI. On the new album, I actually hear more of Mike than I did on several previous albums. I understand why, often, the lead singer does lots of the backups (other bands do this, too). I don't know if it's the producer's decision or the singers' but it often sounds ... I don't know ... smoother or more in synch if the same person does all the vocals. However, I think Billie and Mike sound great together, and I think Billie and Jason White were meant to sing together (*on the ave v2*).
amy_runs Posted June 20, 2009 Posted June 20, 2009 I think Billie and Mike sound great together, and I think Billie and Jason White were meant to sing together (*on the ave v2*).Oh I agree with you
Mato Posted June 20, 2009 Posted June 20, 2009 I know; I love it when Tre and Mike are involved with the back-up vocals or any singing. Rock 'n' Roll Girlfriend FTW
Nova-Caine Posted June 20, 2009 Posted June 20, 2009 His voice probably suits this album more, its normal for singers to do their own back ups, many do it.
HoneyDo666 Posted June 20, 2009 Posted June 20, 2009 I love when Billie and Mike harmonize...they sound great!I think we can hear every band member really clearly on this album and I love that!
Katarina. Posted June 20, 2009 Posted June 20, 2009 Uh, Billie's been doing backing vocals since they first recorded an album I guess! xDJust listen to American Idiot for example..Anyway, Mike and Billie Joe sound so great together! It only surprised me Tre didn't have a singing part on 21CB.. -Listens to Rock 'n' Roll Girfriend-
Astrid. Posted June 20, 2009 Posted June 20, 2009 I never really noticed it. And so what? If he wants to do that and it's working out fine, who's there to stop him?
Angela. Posted June 20, 2009 Posted June 20, 2009 Tre should get his kinky ass doing more vocals next album 'round.I want me another 'Rock 'n' Roll Girlfriend' type thing going on.I want another Tre' song. Only, instead of Rock 'n' Roll Girlfriend, it would be more like... Like A Rat Does Cheese.
frankiessister Posted June 20, 2009 Posted June 20, 2009 I want another Tre' song. Only, instead of Rock 'n' Roll Girlfriend, it would be more like... Like A Rat Does Cheese. I second that.
Agija Posted June 20, 2009 Posted June 20, 2009 I never noticed that. As long as the songs sound great, I don't care who does the back-up vocals.
drummerman Posted June 20, 2009 Posted June 20, 2009 It really made me sad that Tre didn't have his own song in this album It made me even sadder to hear that he's not even providing backing vocals. Such a great album too.
Peace and Rainbows Posted June 20, 2009 Posted June 20, 2009 I have noticed that, but i like billie's voice so i'm not complaining
iLozza! Posted June 20, 2009 Posted June 20, 2009 I never noticed really, but it sounds good, so I don't see a problem.I like the sound of Mike's vocals still <3
Kaddi. Posted June 20, 2009 Posted June 20, 2009 I haven't even noticed that and I think Billie and Jason White were meant to sing together (*on the ave v2*).True... it sounds awesome.
Ila Reto Posted June 20, 2009 Posted June 20, 2009 i only noticed it in 21stCB....it gives me the chills every time and i 2nd the notion that Tre should sing a kick ass track on the next album
