Dai. Posted June 16, 2009 Posted June 16, 2009 Talk about this cover here.I have no comments on any of the covers because I'm a bad fan and still haven't listened to them
Radioactive1 Posted June 16, 2009 Posted June 16, 2009 And I feel like a more worse fan cos I seems to have missed something and have never heard of this cover?
tapdancingowl Posted June 16, 2009 Posted June 16, 2009 Mwuhaha, thanks for this. All I can say is this song is so trippy. I didn't know it was a Who song until I say the topic description, so now it all makes sense.
greendaytone Posted June 16, 2009 Posted June 16, 2009 I absolutely love this cover. You can see how JOS and Homecoming might've been influenced by this. It's a really cool story within the song, and it has helped give me an appreciation for The Who. There is a good live version of The Who doing this song on youtube.Green Day's version has a bit in it that sound very beach boys esque. "We''ll soon be home, soon be home, we'll soon, soon, soon, soon be home."Awesome song.
farley drexel hatcher Posted June 16, 2009 Posted June 16, 2009 Yeah, this is a great cover. Hopefully it'll get some of the younger fans who don't really know much about The Who more into them. I love the song in general though.
amy_runs Posted June 16, 2009 Posted June 16, 2009 At first, I did not like this cover. I loved the original so much, I thought nothing could ever beat it. Green Day changed a few lyrics and it just didn't connect with me. But after a couple listens, it slowly grew. And grew. And now I love it! I realized a cover is another bands interpretation of a song... not the exact same thing.
Princess Consuela Posted June 16, 2009 Posted June 16, 2009 I have no comments on any of the covers because I'm a bad fan and still haven't listened to them That makes two of us So where can I download listen to those covers?

persons Posted June 17, 2009 Posted June 17, 2009 this is my favorite itunes bonus track, and i can see how this might have influenced jos and homecoming.
jose armstrong Posted June 17, 2009 Posted June 17, 2009 love it, love it, sometimes strangely similar.I'm not going to lie, one time I listened to it I forgot it was Green Day's version.and Dai, it's "iTunes bonus track"
badwolf Posted June 17, 2009 Posted June 17, 2009 Why haven't I heard any of the bonus tracks? I guess I, too, am a bad fan.
tapdancingowl Posted June 17, 2009 Posted June 17, 2009 I LOVE THIS COVER SOOOOOOOO MUCH!!!!!!!!!Turn down the main skid row. We're not dealing with bombs, Governor.Whoever gets that reference is made of win.
NowhereBound Posted June 18, 2009 Posted June 18, 2009 First of all, I never heard the original version by The Who. Second, it was really weird the first time hearing it....but now I LOVE IT and it is AMAZING!
Swedish_Idiot Posted June 18, 2009 Posted June 18, 2009 I love this cover and I think it shows how talented Green Day actually are, if that make sense.
elisa Posted June 18, 2009 Posted June 18, 2009 LOL at first I thought this was a spam thread. stupid title.love the song (:
Nova-Caine Posted June 18, 2009 Posted June 18, 2009 My name is Ivor i'm an engine driver One of my fave tv programmes as a kid. I do wonder if the band know that Ivor the Engine is a kids tv programme haha Green Day's version is superb and almost as good as the original which I love, My mum is a big Who fan so I've heard it lots over the yars.
otherplans Posted June 18, 2009 Posted June 18, 2009 The Who really were the originators of multi-section songs like JOS, Homecoming, 21st Century Breakdown, and American Eulogy. It makes sense that Green Day would do this one as an homage to them, seeing as they probably would never have gone in the concept album direction if not for The Who
Princess Consuela Posted June 18, 2009 Posted June 18, 2009 Pretty much my favourite cover.I love the 'falalalalala'
TheBullwinkle Posted June 18, 2009 Posted June 18, 2009 I love their cover of this song. I never get tired of it.
greendaytone Posted June 18, 2009 Posted June 18, 2009 Yeah i keep discovering the story in this song more and more each time i listen to it."Dang... Dang... Dang... Dang.... Dang!!"
kidney Posted June 18, 2009 Posted June 18, 2009 meh. I heard this a few hours ago.. gave only one listen so far and I'm not really diggin' it so far.I love the original though.
