greendaytone Posted June 15, 2009 Posted June 15, 2009 I often wonder what it would be like for people just getting in to Green Day now. Like, what album did you buy next? How does it compare to the 21st CB Green Day, in your eyes?I think it must be a great journey for anyone who really catches on. Going back and discovering everything they've done in the last 20 years, from 1,039 to the present day.If you're already hooked, tell us how you got here!
greendaytone Posted June 15, 2009 Author Posted June 15, 2009 great topic dude Thanks man! Have you just got into Green Day?
Princess Consuela Posted June 15, 2009 Posted June 15, 2009 Yeah I like this thread but I think we'll have to wait a bit longer for brand new fans to come here. I mean 21st CB was released just a month ago. It took me 2 years to join here

rage-love-life Posted June 15, 2009 Posted June 15, 2009 We'll still have to wait for new people to join, the album isn't really well known yet. Plus it might take them a while to join, I know I did, I wasn't sure about this place at first, but now it's addicting.

fashionvictim86 Posted June 15, 2009 Posted June 15, 2009 I think this is a great topic. If there aren't any new fans, all you AI era fans, maybe you can rely your experiences?

.:Whatsername:. Posted June 15, 2009 Posted June 15, 2009 This is an awesome topic. I remember what it was like for me just disovering Green Day back when I was 12. It'd be cool to see how it is for people discovering them for 21st Century Breakdown and not American Idiot. EDIT since I read Courtney's post:I'm an AI Era fan. I think my first song was Blvd. of Broken Dreams. I don't remember what my second CD was. For some reason I think it was Dookie because one of my friends back in grade 7 got it from her uncle and we listened to it a few times. Even though it's hardly as long as some fans, I'm still amazed that I fell in love with Green Day in grade 7. That's the grade my brother is in now. Well, when he's 16 he can say that he's loved Green Day since grade 3 because his lovely sister introduced him to them. Tré is like his idol! Anyways, my second CD was probably Dookie, but I'm also feeling Insomniac or Nimrod. I wish I remembered but I really don't. One of my best friends I have because of Green Day. Our life revolved around them! She still likes them but she doesn't love Green Day the way she did. Still, we're friends because of them. And when the whole American Idiot craze started to die down, I just never lost interest in the band. They were too much a huge part of my life by then. I just couldn't stop loving them. I love writing things like this... I used a lot of emotions too. Sorry. xD
greendaytone Posted June 15, 2009 Author Posted June 15, 2009 yup. i was already at the show at the e-werk (i think you also were there, weren't you?) and i'm going to three shows in october Ah yeah, i remember you saying now! Would've been great to meet you there dude. I was supposed to meet Svan, but we got there too late!
.Brian Posted June 15, 2009 Posted June 15, 2009 I'm also a fan since AI, so i can maybe add something to my experiences if you like to hear it

Princess Consuela Posted June 15, 2009 Posted June 15, 2009 I am AI fan and always hated the fact I was too ignorant to get into decent music earlier. I'm sure there's already a thread like that though, cause I remember I've already posted how it all started for me
.Brian Posted June 15, 2009 Posted June 15, 2009 Ah yeah, i remember you saying now! Would've been great to meet you there dude. I was supposed to meet Svan, but we got there too late! yeah, that would've been really cool.i met sven there, so i would have seen you too are you going to any of my shows in fall?
Guest jetblackheart Posted June 15, 2009 Posted June 15, 2009 I bought American Idiot just before 21CB was released. I don't know why I didn't discover them any earlier (I'm 27). I listen to a lot of music, but I guess I always thought that GD were too mainstream or poppy. Maybe I'm going crazy or something, but I LOVE them now. I have all their albums on my iPod. My current fave songs are Murder City, !Viva La Gloria! and Jesus Of Suburbia. They all seem to tell my life story.
