Billie's comment about the album's second single, 21 Guns, was:

"It brings up 21st Century Breakdown in a lot of ways, and the 21-gun-salute for someone that’s fallen, but done in an arena rock’n’roll sort of way."

What do you think of this one?

Woo Love 21 Guns!!!

Think it's Better Than East Jesus Nowhere

Does anybody Know If The Single Listed On Rhapsody.com is Genuine

...Or Fake, as Favourite Son is old, way old

The first time I heard this song, it made me cry. It's very powerful. But I don't understand why

First song off of 21st CB I fell in love with. I know I'm not original, but I heart this song very much. It makes me emotional and reflective the most.

My favourite part is:

When you're at the end of the road

And you lost all sense of control

And your thoughts have taken their toll

When your mind breaks the spirit of your soul

Your faith walks on broken glass

And the hangover doesn't pass

Nothing's ever built to last

You're in ruins.

And falsetto

This song is just amazing  love it, I can't wait to hear it live on the tour!

probably my least favorite song on the album, it still somehow draws me in.

my favortie line atm is "when it's time to live at let die"

i've never seen it as a song against war or anything like that.

More like two people in a fight or just two hurt people who are realizing that they have to let down their defensive shield and let eachother in.

"Did you stand too close to the fire?

Like a liar looking for forgiveness from a stone"

that Christian is the Fire, and she's realizing that even though she's always saught hope and forgiveness from him, he ended up making things worse for her in the long run.

He said he loves her, but he won't support her with what she wants to do.

And then he's mad at her for not being the dream girl he thought she was. Yea maybe she's a 'liar' but he can be a real bastard too.

I think this is my favorite song on the album. It's between this one and static age

Amazing song. It's so beautiful and simple, yet powerful. Also, one of my favorites, and even though I knew it was going to be special (from what I read on GDC from people who already heard it), it blew me away when I first heard it, especially when I first heard the first chorus. And even though I sometimes doubt if it's still one of my faves, when I listen it again I immediatly love it again.

(and that's also why I don't really like it that it's a single, it will probably get overplayed, and that will maybe kinda ruin it for me....)

this song is awesome. reminds me of BOBD a bit.

It's a song about me.every world, every moment! The last 3 years were just like it!Everything's all right now,but when I heard the song for the first time I was really shocked. It's unbeliveable....just like if someone red my thoughts or spent that hell period with me.Still can't belive it:)

Amazing song!

So, this is what I think this song represents. It's more like a love song then war-theme song.

This is the part in whole album, where they're both at the and of the road, and they can't go on without knowing what is worth of their fight.

The first part :

Do you know what's worth fighting for,

When it's not worth dying for?

Does it take your breath away

And you feel yourself suffocating?

Does the pain weigh out the pride?

And you look for a place to hide?

Did someone break your heart inside?

You're in ruins

Is about Gloria. Because she was fighting, she was holding the torch. And after that,s he falls in this drug addiction, and she's suffocating...She's not proud of that and she just wants top hide somewhere.

She's in pain, she's confused, doesn't knows what to do next.

I believe this is Christian asking her these questions.

And there's chorus ..I think explains itself. Christian is telling her to give up from that fight which she's not gonna win.

Than there's second. I believe in this part Gloria is asking Christian :

When you're at the end of the road

And you lost all sense of control

And your thoughts have taken their toll

When your mind breaks the spirit of your soul

Your faith walks on broken glass

And the hangover doesn't pass

Nothing's ever built to last

You're in ruins.

I think that because he's at the end of the road ( as she is too ).And he lost his control, he just wants to ruin everything.

He doesn't care about anything anymore, he lets his toughts lead him.

He lost his faith in everything ( also in her " Little girl, little girl, you dirty liar, you're just a junky preaching to the choir" )

And she tells him he's in ruins, like her. They're the same.

Then chorus....

And the climax of the whole song.

They're talking to each other in this part :

Did you try to live on your own

When you burned down the house and home?

Did you stand too close to the fire?

Like a liar looking for forgiveness from a stone

The first two lines are about Christian, because he's the one who's selfdestructive, violent etc...

He buried all down ( "

I'm gonna burn it all down I'm gonna rip it out ...Well, everything that you employ...Was meant for me to destroy...To the ground now "

He's mad on Gloria, because she stand too close to the fire ( the next line, and the fire represents him, also in teh whole album ) and she didn't stop him even tho she knew what he's gonna do.

Ans he's mad because of her lies. She was like something that hold his sanity, and it was all lie.

And the next line is about Gloria, cuz she's the liar ( already mentioned.)

And she's asking forgiveness from a stone ( he's stone in this line, representing something numb, something without emotions, cold... But also the stone can mean tomb-stone, just a reminder of that someone who is no longer there. Or for someone who's been sinned and is asking for forgiveness of someones tomb-stone.)

And the last part is I think the make up part.Until this part they're accusing each other, but in this paert they are realising that they are just two sides of the same medal.

They're in love , and they're stronger together. They're still in ruins, but hopping...

When it's time to live and let die

And you can't get another try

Something inside this heart has died

You're in ruins.

They have a choice, to keep their lives or to die. What happened, happened. There's no coming back.

So they just have to keep up with their lives.

And the final chorus is letting us now their decision, tahy're gonna keep their fight, because they now know that is worth fighting.

yeah , it's long, but I couldn't be shorter because I think you would not understand me.

Alo English is not my first language so, I'm sorry for that.

I don't like relating this song to Gloria and Christian.

I just can't describe how much I love this song, when I first listened to it, I was not really paying attention, not listening to the lyrics or actually the song.. It sounded kinda bored, but then it came the "21 guuuuns" and I just stopped everything I was doing.

I've never cried to this song, I'm not that emotional.. but when I listen to it I just want to be at the concert and throw my arms into the sky  lame, I know.. but it's true :P

Anyway, I like the 'giving up' theme.. like it is not saying to push push, it is telling you to stop. I just stop and breathe.

I know I'll get tired of this song if I continue listening to it, so I promised myself that when the video comes out and it invades the media, I'll try not listening so much to it.

So it doesn't become a WMUWSE or BOBD for me. I wanna enjoy it at the concert.

Well, you can relate it with something in your life, and that is what it makes this song so powerful.

And for the giving up theme, I remembered the quote " Sometimes strong doesn't means to be strong enough to keep pushing something, ti means to be strong enough to let it go." or something like that, can't remember exactly.

This song is the one who made me cry, even tho I never cry, I mean never, really. :)

The falsetto
