Restless Heart Syndrome

This is the song that Butch Vig had to encourage Billie to finish for the album and the one that he said was the hardest to write (in answer to Amy_runs' question on the absolute radio interview).

Billie said,

“It’s about pharmaceuticals. A lot of people become junkies if they get the right prescription.”

What do you think about this one?

the last part of the song, mostly instrumental, the one right after the 'know your enemy' really moves me.

also, its taken me a long time for the song to grow on me, maybe subconsciiously i made myself able to relate to it though....kind of weird.

my favorite lines are:

"i think they found another cure, for broken hearts and feeling insecure. you'd be suprised what i endure, what makes you feel so self assured?"

"i feel like i've been crusified to be satisfied"

"im a victim, of the system, i am my own worst enemy."

I love when it says "Know your enemy" I like it very much!!

I love it when Billie says "Know Your Enemy"

Theres not enough to say about this song! starts off as a really good ballad and then explodes into a tornado of guitar then ends with one of the fuckin best outros ever!

This one's hard for me to get into. I find myself wanting to skip it when it comes on, but I have a feeling it will grow on me. The lyrics, though, are incredible.

I listen to this whole song to hear the violin.

I don't know why I love it so much. And "Know your enemy"

It makes me sick

"You're a victim of the system

You are your own worst enemy

" I love what this song's about.

I love the following lyrics:

"I think they found another cure,

For broken hearts and feeling insecure,

You'd be surprised what I endure,

What makes you feel so self-assured?"

For some reason, those lyrics give me the chills a little bit.

Another favorite lyric of mine from this song is:

"I'm a victim,

Of my symptom.

I am my own worst enemy."

Those lyrics make me feel very... vulnerable. They make me realize that I have a lot of hate built up inside me. And when that hate/anger unleashes... I don't even realize who in the hell I am anymore. And the temptation to hurt myself rather than others when that anger is unleashed is a HUGE problem, as well. I'm literally terrified of what I could end up doing to myself. Overall, those lyrics are scary to me.

Oh, and one more thing. "Know your enemy." That line is amazing.

Favourite. Song.

When I heard it when the 6 songs were put out, I could NOT get over that Green Day actually made a song that sounded like this. While everyone was swooning over EJN and 21 Guns, I was like 'um guys...this is a completely new style that they've never done! It's BRILLIANT.'

I'm so in love with it. I reeeeeeeeeeeeeeeally want to nail it on the piano. But I just can't seem to get the hang of it :/

I just looove how it starts... it gives me goosebumps!! It is so damn good, probably one of my top 3 in the album.

Love the lyrics, love the piano at the beginning, love BJ's voice on it, for me this song's just perfect!

i'm pretty sure this is my favorite song on the album. it sounds like it could have been a john lennon song. amazing.

probably THE best song by Green Day

loved it since I first heard it.

only thing I'm still oblivious about is "lord knows...."

other than that best song from Green Day's repertoire

I loove that song and the strength it has in its lines..Credits to BJ for writing it..It has some lyrics that just kill me,in the good sense.

Lord knows I tried to find a way to run away

You'd be surprised what I endure

So what kills you, is what impales you

I feel like I've been crucified to be satisfied

I'm a victim of my symptom

I am my own worst enemy

You're a victim of your symptom

You are your own worst enemy

Know your enemy

Great lyrical work and the music completes it..

i had trouble getting used to this song, but you know, after american idiot anything was possible for green day. i`m happy that they experimented with songs like ''Restless Heart Syndrome'' and ''Last Night On Earth''.
