Personally, I liked the demo more although the final version is not bad at all.

I still haven't heard the demo. I want to.

I lvoe this song, opens the album brilliantly. The Irish bit in the middle is awesome.

I'm not so keen on the Queen-esque solo though, i must say.

I don't remember what the demo sounded like, but I really dig the intro and how it led into the rest of the song. Also, I liked how Billie referenced his kid. It seems really sweet to have something in a song that was inspired by you.

I love this song. The lyrics make so much sense. It reflects my views on america today

àlso one of my favorites :)

(but the lyrics in the demo were better in my opinion :P)

I did really, really like the demo version of it, especially the lyrics, I mean 80% of them are the same in the final studio version, like "From Mexico to the Berlin wall," was a really good line and sounds much better than the line they changed it to.

^^ I still sing that line. I also loved the line 'Bleed American Bleed' It's a pity they felt they had to change it.

I preferred the demo tbh too J'net, but it's definitely one of my top songs on the album.

I love this song, especially when he sings "My name is no one, the long lost son, born on the 4th of Julyyyyyyyyyy"

I love this song...it reflects a lot of my views. My favourite section is right before the song goes into overdrive...the "we are the class of 13, born in the era of humility" part...I know that the '13 is a reference to his song but it also makes me think of the stereotypical symbol for bad luck.

I agree with that. I got used to the new lines now cause I haven´t listened to the demo for a while but I still like the old version better (lyrically at least).

And it´s one of my all time fav songs probably. Pretty epic song, if you ask me and I just love how it changes to a faster part and then back to a slower part! And the lyrics are just simply great!

edit: I especially love the lines "We are the class of 13, born in the era of humility, we are the desperate in the decline, raised by the bastards of 69" and "Born on the 4th of july"

i prefered the demo a bit more...atleast some parts are better on that one than the one on the album..but yeah. it's not that bad :)

At 2.14 is when the song gets so good, I actually can't sing it anymore because the excitement of how much I love it, has exploded in my mind!

It nearly sounds as epic as I Don't Care from JOS, that really gets me going too.

Qué? :/

The final version is 10x better than the demo in my opinion..

The Irish jig part(middle) gets me so pumped.

There are things I really like about both versions. I think I probably lean a bit toward the demo, which I just listened to again to refresh my memory. But both versions are great, IMO.

I like the piano intro on the demo. I like Billie's voice being less "produced" on the demo. I feel like the Celtic punk part is somehow more pronounced on the album version, though, and I LOVE that part!

So I'm just happy we have two versions to listen to :).

his voice is better in this version, but the demo's lyrics were better.

I love them both, though.

This, !Viva la Gloria! and Murder City will always be my three most favorite from the album I think. I still like the demo lyrics better though.

This is my absolute favorite song on this album! From the beginning with the piano and the steady increase of drums gets my heart going. Then when they get into the jig i completely lose my mind at this.

 breaks my heart every time i hear it. i loved the demo so much, the lyrics really spoke to me and it was like YES! YES! YES!

but then they had to go ahead and change it. humfh.

which, in turn, made me hate them, made me hate the song, and made me hate the album. i held one hell of a grudge because of that.

i still do, but not as much. and i actually have learned the new lyrics (and i feel like a little hipocrite for that lol)

and im finally making peace with the song. but i really lament over the loss of those perfectly good lyrics and piano.

the song itself though, is brilliant. i love it completely <3

I forgot about the old piano! Oh dear... I loved that too.

I love this song so freaking much! I love love love how BJ sings where he goes "I swallowed my pride and I choked on my faith, I've given my heart and my soul" Geez, that whole part is just amazing! And not to mention the "DREEEAM, AMERICA DREEEEAM..." :D

I love thsi song i hope they make it a single and shoot a video for it! :) ( I liked some of the demo lyrics better)

Love it. When I heard it after the demo, it was kinda weird, but now I prefer it more than demo :)

I love how is separated in three parts... When I first heard the last part, I was blown away
