I'm sorry that my OP won't be as cool as J'net's, heh.

Discuss the intro to the album here :)

This intro definitely deserves to be seen as its own song.

I love Billie Joe's voice in this and the end part, he sounds so vulnerable, "sing us a song... for me" its awesome.

Its an intro and I dont really like it as much. Its good as an intro though.

i love it.

it always helps me to get the right feeling for the album :)

I think it's so pretty. It sets it all up, and BJ's voice in it is so beautiful....I love love love it.

I love this song/intro whatever you wanna call it!

It really makes a good beginning for the album. Long-time Green Day fan!

It really sets up the topics for the CD. Billies voice is great on it also

This short song prepares the listener for an incredible ride.

This is a really nice song as an intro to the album, but I usually skip it when it shows up on my shuffle.

And Billie's voice is amazing in it

 i remember, oh gosh it was already like what back in November? well yea when we only got to hear "sing us the song of the century" and then the instrumental to 21stCB. i was like "who's the woman singing? Kathleen Hannah again?" hahah but now i hear differently and its a lot nicer.

"They're playing the song of the century

Of panic and promise and prosperity

Tell me a story into that goodnight

Sing us a song for me "

Its the perfect way to lay out the whole setting.

That's how I feel about it. If I'm listening to the whole album straight through, I love the way it sets the mood. But if I'm listening to songs in random order and this pops up, I usually skip it. I like it but it just seems out of place as a stand-alone piece.

lovely.

I love ''Tell me a story into that goodnight''

just lovely

I love it. BJ's vocals are SO damn beautiful and enchanting in this song. I can't skip it when it comes on. I always have to listen to it.

It's actually the only part I dont like in the album (except for the cover)

I really like this as an opening because it sets up the whole theme of static on the album, and sort of gives you the feeling as if you are surfing through the channels and then all of a sudden make out this one vulnerable guy singing quietly over the airwaves.

Favorite song on the entire album.

I find it as a good intro piece to the album, it just seems to set you up perfectly for the story that is about to be told in a way and leads in perfectly to 21st Century Breakdown

I really like that one.

And on my player goes this song, and than American Eulogy.

And every single time I get so confused which one is it. :)

edit : I meant on the beginning, don't get me wrong, I'm not that stupid.

The first time i heard this in my headphones, where the clarity just envelopes you, it sent chills up my spine because i knew i was going on a musical journey with this album.

I remeber back when they put a little part of it in greenday.com and I went completly nuts!

Just the right intro for the right album...

I remember when I first heard that intro on greenday.com.... I was blown away..

''Sing us a song of the century..'' I love that first part, it's so hope giving and awesome!

The first time i heard this song i was with a friend who also likes pretty much GD...

She turned to me and said "Isn't this song a bit strange for GD? I mean comparing to others, such as holiday, for example, it doesn't have nothing in common!"

I said then and is really my opinion: Each GD album is a new chapter in their music. This song, specially the lyrics, sets the tone of their newest album, in a really efective way.. in a awsome way i might add. I like it!

I usually don't like intros, because they're often useless, but this one is totally perfect and I think it's necessary to have an intro for an album like 21st CB. The lyrics are awesome and I love Billie's voice in it.
