J'net Posted June 14, 2009 Posted June 14, 2009 When discussing ¿Viva la Gloria? Billie Joe said,“It’s about a woman with a heavy drug problem. ¡Viva la Gloria! Is about a person who has a vision, but this is a person who’s distorting that vision with drugs and self-destruction.”This song seems to be a favorite with a lot of people. What do you think about it?
rage-love-life Posted June 14, 2009 Posted June 14, 2009 I love this song so much, it's not even funny. I like the piano intro, and how it goes into the typical Green Day music while still having the piano in it.
greendaytone Posted June 14, 2009 Posted June 14, 2009 "Little Girl, Little Girl, you dirty liar"Need i say more! Love the misery-ness of this song.
SlappyDJ1 Posted June 14, 2009 Posted June 14, 2009 It sounds different then past green day. I feel like I heard some part of the song before.

Insomniac186 Posted June 14, 2009 Posted June 14, 2009 It's definitely a neat song, it sounds just like as if The Door's Alabama Song (Whiskey Bar) and Blood, Sex, and Booze from Warning had a baby.
Bassgirl_1984 Posted June 14, 2009 Posted June 14, 2009 It's a great song! I just love how the song feels...it is very miseryish.
Princess Consuela Posted June 14, 2009 Posted June 14, 2009 I love drums in this one. Especially that bit before 'the charlatans and saints of your abandon' and 'you dirty liar'.

Astrid. Posted June 14, 2009 Posted June 14, 2009 This song sends so much shivers up my spine and gives me so much goosepimples that it's not even funny I love it Theres not a part of the song im a bit ehh about There's something about the line "the charlatans and saints of your abandon" that gives me the shivers xDThat too I fuckin love that gloriaaaa in the background, and i love it when the "the traces of blood" part kicks in.Yeah.. that whole part is so great If i'm not already singing along I start there without thinking about it. So amazing is it
Ila Reto Posted June 14, 2009 Posted June 14, 2009 lol i just made the wost connection to Virginia in Misery...like a little extension of her part in the song no but seriously, this song makes me feel fuckin' guilty man, i dont know why. I wish i could say more about the track, but the lyrics say it all. but its safe to say that Christian is p-i-s-s-e-d off at Gloria. he's like "why'd you lie to me? you fucking junkie you tell everyone what to do and what not to do and you think you're carrying the torch around here but you're not so snap the fuck out of it."
Eirik Posted June 14, 2009 Posted June 14, 2009 ^Naah, I think this song, as every other song on the album, is Bille looking at himself more than anything else. The "Little Girl" part was probably just from A Quick One, or it was used due to the fact that, symbolically, nothing's more vulnerable than a little girl (I know that sounds sexist, but it's not meant to be. ).I love this song, but my favourite part is the bridge and out, just amazing...
norcalgreendayfan Posted June 14, 2009 Posted June 14, 2009 I see it as Christian bascially calling out Gloria for being a hypocrite like shes passing her self as something good whos trying to change everything and everyone around her by getting them to not do all this shit while at the same time shes doing the same damn shit herself.
theeulogy Posted June 14, 2009 Posted June 14, 2009 it has an old russian folk song beginning!I LOVE IT...my next favorite one
ThrillerIOH11 Posted June 14, 2009 Posted June 14, 2009 this song is amazing and shows green day taking a great leap in confidence and how to succed with songs
Angela. Posted June 14, 2009 Posted June 14, 2009 I can't begin to tell you how much I love this song. I understand that it's about drug problems. But this song calls to me in a much different way. I think about it in the same way that Ila Reto said. I'm Christian, and I'm yelling at Gloria (in my particular situation). And it's like I'm saying: "Why the fuck did you lie to me?! Was it fun? I hope it was, because now, I'm going to do EVERYTHING I can to give you hell. I'm going to tell everyone I know about you and your fucking lies. I hope you start feeling guilty, and I hope that fucking guilt eats you up inside until there's nothing left. I hope you fucking DIE." That's the way I think of this song, and that's how it relates to me and my personal life.
Haydée Posted June 14, 2009 Posted June 14, 2009 the piano, "little girl"s, again the piano, "Runawaaaaaaay"s and then the drums/guitar/bass making the Boom."there is no place like home when you have no place to go" and then guitar. The drums at the verse after the chorus.Mike's backup. and the "Little girl you dirty liar" is just awesome."Glooriiaa"/"so unholy"Just love the whole song.
