trejack101 Posted June 13, 2009 Posted June 13, 2009 Same song, different lyrics. Let me explain :After Billie sings the lyrics, (both songs) a chorus ensues, (both songs), after second chorus there is a Jason Freeze distorted guitar playing, (both songs) and then to top it off, after a verse (both songs) there is a rather "evil playout"... BOTH SONGS Discuss.sorry, a jason white distorted guitar playing
Jack96 Posted June 13, 2009 Posted June 13, 2009 Theyre both the same time as well 4:20 i dont think theyre that much the same. The song structure is used in most songs so i dont know some things are similar but i dont think theyre the same song.

trejack101 Posted June 13, 2009 Author Posted June 13, 2009 lol, I know.... but I meant to say Jason White with the guitar playing... not the Mr. Freeze/ AKA Jason Sax to the Max Freeze.
steve2606 Posted June 13, 2009 Posted June 13, 2009 It's not uncommon to reuse a song formula that worked in the past. Afterall, it is about making the most money out of the record. So by releasing a song with a similar pattern to a previously successful song, they can make the song more appealing and familiar. But I thought that would be obvious considering that is pretty much what pop music is.
minus52 Posted June 13, 2009 Posted June 13, 2009 i reckon they sound pretty similar, i'm going to try and do a mash-up of them, not sure how well it will turn out, its my 1st time
Jack96 Posted June 13, 2009 Posted June 13, 2009 lol, I know.... but I meant to say Jason White with the guitar playing... not the Mr. Freeze/ AKA Jason Sax to the Max Freeze.lol you now you coulda just edited the freeze out and turn it to white lol
trejack101 Posted June 13, 2009 Author Posted June 13, 2009 To make the most money??? ugh. When will Green Day make music because they just simply love making music... they have enough clout. Must be the reason why I'd prefer a FHT album over a new GD album. Simply for the love of music.
Clockwise Posted June 13, 2009 Posted June 13, 2009 Nah that's not for the money. It probably won't even be released as a single. It very much is a departure from normal Green Day with piano heavy throughout the entire song.
trejack101 Posted June 13, 2009 Author Posted June 13, 2009 lol you now you coulda just edited the freeze out and turn it to white lolLOL, I know....oops. For lack of a better word and that's my best excuse.

Supermodel*Robot Posted June 13, 2009 Posted June 13, 2009 I feel Give Me Novocaine in this song.Lyrically of course, not musically.
Seedless_Reject Posted June 13, 2009 Posted June 13, 2009 As has already been quoted they do make music for fun otherwise they wouldnt still be togetherexactly and/or in Tre's words "sperm"
AtTheLibrary19 Posted June 13, 2009 Posted June 13, 2009 More like 21 Guns and BOBD are the same songs. I mean come on, the verse progressions are really similar, Tre uses the EXACT same fill to come into the second verse, and during the verse Mike and Tre both play almost exactly the same rhythmically in both songs. The choruses are kind of different rhythmically, but similar progressions again.

Eldoon Posted June 13, 2009 Posted June 13, 2009 The songs are similar, but I think RHS is the better song overall so I'm not gonna knock it for being like BOBD when it refines that sound and improves upon it.I always thought there was more of a Lennon vibe in RHS, with the piano intro and string section, and the vocal effects on Billie's voice (which are kind of "I Am the Walrus"-esque.) Plus the outro in both BOBD and RHS has always reminded me of "I Want You (She's So Heavy.)"And not to harp on the original poster, but that's Billie playing all the guitar on the studio recording, it's common knowledge that White's just their live man (though I do tend to imagine Jason White playing it in my head since I know he'll play that part live anyway.)

Kimpsu Posted June 13, 2009 Posted June 13, 2009 Jason doesn't play the guitar on the album. Anyway, piano makes RHS sound a little bit different than BOBD. They ain't that same.
Katarina. Posted June 13, 2009 Posted June 13, 2009 So? I like both songs, I don't care if they sound a bit the same at a point or two
jose armstrong Posted June 13, 2009 Posted June 13, 2009 It really bothers me when people make threads like this one, I don't know why
