dudley dawson Posted June 12, 2009 Posted June 12, 2009 Dookie to Insomniac- 1 year (94-95)Insomniac to Nimrod- 2 years (95-97)Nimrod to Warning- 3 years (97-00)Warning to American Idiot- 4 years (00-04)American Idiot to 21st Century Breakdown- 5 years (04-09)21st Century Breakdown to ???- 6 years (09-15)Coincidence? Probably, but there is a pattern...
alexandrez Posted June 12, 2009 Posted June 12, 2009 i'd thought of that before.i sure hope 5 years is the max though.but you are only counting the studio albums. there was FBHT, Network, Int Superhits, BIAB, Shenenigans and loads of other stuff in between.
Green Daynger25 Posted June 12, 2009 Posted June 12, 2009 They're becoming middle aged men so the process takes a little longer.
dudley dawson Posted June 12, 2009 Author Posted June 12, 2009 mm i dont agree.don't agree with what? I said if the trend continues, and clearly there has been a trend. I am not asking a question here, just stating facts.
rage-love-life Posted June 12, 2009 Posted June 12, 2009 If that happens I will punch somebody. I don't think it would though, 5 years is long enough.
.Militza. Posted June 12, 2009 Posted June 12, 2009 They're becoming middle aged men so the process takes a little longer.Ha, ha maybe )
Jessica Posted June 12, 2009 Posted June 12, 2009 Warning to American Idiot- 4 years (00-04)Why didn't you list Shenanigans?
Laura! Posted June 12, 2009 Posted June 12, 2009 Why didn't you list Shenanigans? And you forgot International Superhits also. But lets hope we don't have to wait 6 years for a new album!
Peace and Rainbows Posted June 12, 2009 Posted June 12, 2009 If that happens I will punch somebody. I don't think it would though, 5 years is long enough.Agreed!!!! I don't want to be three years through college before a green day album!
Trotsky Posted June 12, 2009 Posted June 12, 2009 Since Breakdown was pretty good, I'm guessing Green Day will have a world tour, some kind of Bullet in Bible like release, some side stuff again, and one more album. But 2015? No, my guess is they'll start writing again by the end of 2010.
iLozza! Posted June 12, 2009 Posted June 12, 2009 As long as it's worth the wait that's okay with me.I think it is coincidence, and the fact they just wanted to put out records fast and "just write good songs" as Billie Joe puts it. Plus there's also the fact (like everyone mentioned) that they have done stuff in between, specially since 2000.
Nele Posted June 12, 2009 Posted June 12, 2009 Why didn't you list Shenanigans? And you forgot International Superhits also. But lets hope we don't have to wait 6 years for a new album!well i think he didn't list them because most songs on those CD's weren't new.
J'net Posted June 12, 2009 Posted June 12, 2009 Since Breakdown was pretty good, I'm guessing Green Day will have a world tour, some kind of Bullet in Bible like release, some side stuff again, and one more album. But 2015? No, my guess is they'll start writing again by the end of 2010.I agree with this, and I think they've already got some candidate songs. They had a lot of stuff to choose from for this album, and at least one song that Butch Vig said other bands would kill to have on an album (but Billie decided it didn't fit in with the rest of this one). I wouldn't be surprised to see the next album completely blow this "trend" away.
fashionvictim86 Posted June 12, 2009 Posted June 12, 2009 No shit sherlock. Trust me, you're not the only one who noticed.
dudley dawson Posted June 12, 2009 Author Posted June 12, 2009 And you forgot International Superhits also. But lets hope we don't have to wait 6 years for a new album!I was counting new studio albums only.
AtTheLibrary19 Posted June 12, 2009 Posted June 12, 2009 My guess is, there will be a new release by 2011 or 2012. I can't imagine them doing another rock opera type concept album with characters and/or acts again. I think 2 times is enough, and that a 3rd album like that would get so stale. It'll be interesting to see what they do, I mean they haven't came out with a normal linear album since Warning! It would be awesome if they went with their own idea of going to Japan and going back to their roots to record a really fast punk record in like a week.
Spark of Insanity Posted June 12, 2009 Posted June 12, 2009 Since Breakdown was pretty good, I'm guessing Green Day will have a world tour, some kind of Bullet in Bible like release, some side stuff again, and one more album. But 2015? No, my guess is they'll start writing again by the end of 2010.I agree with this, there will be plenty of stuff to keep us satisfied throughout the years until then. But I have noticed such trend, but I don't think it would really happen. And they already had a lot of songs to choose from for this album so they have some good songs out there that can be put on the next record. And they will get the side projects going once again.
Nova-Caine Posted June 12, 2009 Posted June 12, 2009 Maybe they'll start to slow down after this? Who knows, but we all know we won't get anything from them until they want to put it out there.
EmmOuGR Posted June 12, 2009 Posted June 12, 2009 I read somewhere an interview of Billie Joe that someone should be really patient with him when it comes to writing songs..But i don't think it would be so long..Don't forget that their tour lasted for long on American Idiot..If the 21CB one lasts also for 1-2 years then we should wait..But I don't think it will last soo long..6 years is way too long.. :whistling:
NickD Posted June 12, 2009 Posted June 12, 2009 while it's the trend for GREEN DAY albums, the three of them do put out material together in between recent work. I also believe Billie Joe's said that he doesnt want this trend of such long periods to continue, because of their love and desire to play live
