Seej Posted June 7, 2009 Posted June 7, 2009 Upon buying the album the Thursday after it came out, my wife and i listened to it a few times afterwards. A few days later, on the early morning after Memorial Day at about 230am, the house kitty corner from us caught fire. It's next to a church that had a couple fires as well. (my friends set the first one cos they were drunk. i tried to stop them, but i failed. they both went to prison for it.) over the week, as i was listening to the album some more, i realized there were a LOT of references to fire. i counted i think 18 overall. the really fucked up thing was that I had Christian's Inferno in my head as i glanced at that house before i went to bed. and i thought of something else as well. Brian Wilson of The Beach Boys made music in relation to fire called "Mrs O'Leary's Cow" for the album SMiLE in 1967. After he had recorded the music, a couple buildings down the street from the recording studio caught fire and burned to the ground. This made Brian paranoid thinking it was his fault for those fires because he wrote that music. This made me think a LOT about the neighbor's house. "Was it my fault for playing 21CB so much that the house burned down?" Prolly not, but you never know, but it IS a lot to think about.
Lauren Posted June 7, 2009 Posted June 7, 2009 Wow, that's really creepy! It always freaks me out when I hear/see/talk about something and then it happens! You know, one time my teacher goes "What is an example of a good student?"and this one girl goes "One who doesn't burn down the school."and I swear RIGHT after that... like NO pause in between... the fire alarms go off!and everyone is like OMFG WHAT DID YOU DO?!!? 'cause it seemed like it was scripted or something!!!
Ila Reto Posted June 7, 2009 Posted June 7, 2009 thats kind of....weird. but as far as the album plot goes, Christian is refered to as the "fire" and Gloria is seen as the "light"
Seej Posted June 7, 2009 Author Posted June 7, 2009 im trying to find any articles on the fire itself, but none of the local newspapers' websites seem to have any info on it.
Ila Reto Posted June 7, 2009 Posted June 7, 2009 ^ wait...okay i have no idea what you're talking about loldo you want us to go find articles about fire? or about green day and fire? or explain Christian's parallelism to fire?
Nova-Caine Posted June 7, 2009 Posted June 7, 2009 I think he's worried that by listening to 21st CB with all the references to fire that he might be responsible for the fires in his street or something?I'm confused :/
amy_runs Posted June 7, 2009 Posted June 7, 2009 ^ wait...okay i have no idea what you're talking about loldo you want us to go find articles about fire? or about green day and fire? or explain Christian's parallelism to fire?I think he's looking for articles on the fires in his townI think he's worried that by listening to 21st CB with all the references to fire that he might be responsible for the fires in his street or something?I'm confused :/Yeah I think so
DeJennsitized Posted June 7, 2009 Posted June 7, 2009 I noticed a lot of fire/light references as well. And of course there is an image of fire in the actual album artwork.
Spark of Insanity Posted June 7, 2009 Posted June 7, 2009 No one should be worried that they caused any fires because of something like that. It could be coincidence. But that is a bit wierd.Reminds me of my own experience even though mine is a bit different because I had the feeling the entire day that my house burned down that it was going to happen. Like somehow I knew even while we were gone and it started I got frantic and I felt bad because of it, and guilty that I didn't do what I wanted and went and got some of my CD's and some of the pictures and all of that stuff. But it could be mere coincidence, nothing like that can cause a fire. But its something a bit wierd. Are you trying to get references on how the album parallels fire and such? I'm a bit confused as well.
Seej Posted June 7, 2009 Author Posted June 7, 2009 im sorry. dont look for info on the fire. ive got that handled, but nothings coming up. so dont worry about that. im just saying about this whole thing that its a weird coincidence about it all. i mean i was playing the album a LOT during that weekend. im not worried or anything, its just weird that i cant find any reports on it. it's almost like it never happened...
JAS0N Posted June 8, 2009 Posted June 8, 2009 Oddly enough, two houses on the street I live on have burned down as well since the new album came out, maybe you are on to something lol
Fulano Posted June 8, 2009 Posted June 8, 2009 Yeah this is so fucking weird...Maybe it's only a fucking coincidence...But who knows?
Pineapple Posted June 8, 2009 Posted June 8, 2009 "Was it my fault for playing 21CB so much that the house burned down?"are you serious..
Astrid. Posted June 8, 2009 Posted June 8, 2009 It's just a coincidence that the house burned out. Do you seriously think that by playing the cd you can burn a house down? 2 nights ago two farms houses burned down and a house ánd a shed of my friend. They should blame Green Day.
kokonut_soda Posted June 9, 2009 Posted June 9, 2009 I gave my friend the album about a week or two ago, and she's been listening to it ever since, nonstop. She found out her a house in her neighborhood was burning down right after she finished the song "Christian's Inferno."*shrug*
forget_me_nots Posted June 9, 2009 Posted June 9, 2009 It's just a coincidence that the house burned out. Do you seriously think that by playing the cd you can burn a house down?YES. O_O Haha, really, though, sometimes enough coincidences can convince me. Have you seen the JKF/Lincoln similarities/coincidences list? Spooky shit.
Juan Posted June 9, 2009 Posted June 9, 2009 YES. O_O Haha, really, though, sometimes enough coincidences can convince me. Have you seen the JKF/Lincoln similarities/coincidences list? Spooky shit.ha, yes. That was fun
Astrid. Posted June 9, 2009 Posted June 9, 2009 YES. O_O Haha, really, though, sometimes enough coincidences can convince me. Have you seen the JKF/Lincoln similarities/coincidences list? Spooky shit.No I haven't. You just made me curious
Lady Liberty Posted June 9, 2009 Posted June 9, 2009 I notice the fire references everytime I listen to it. There are quite a few.
wwnflat_punk Posted June 9, 2009 Posted June 9, 2009 I think the fire references can go two ways. First, fire can be destructive and burn everything down, like described in "Horeshoes and Handgrenades" and "East Jesus Nowhere". It can also be hopeful like in "Viva la Gloria" and "See the Light".
Nova-Caine Posted June 9, 2009 Posted June 9, 2009 Billie is the Messiah I thought he was the Reverend, or was it the Sheriff?ffs I can't keep up...
