zouxie Posted May 26, 2009 Posted May 26, 2009 I'm sorry if this is any sort of repost.I haven't listened to Green Day for a while, so recently I put in my 1039 Smoothed Out Slappy Hour CD. It went through all 19 tracks and made the sound like it was going to restart before going on to a track 20. I don't ever remember this happening. Track 20 was a clip from a radio station, an old clip that ran into a track 21, 22, and maybe 23. The tracks were acoustic versions of two songs off of Kerplunk and one off of 1039. Since I don't ever remember hearing this, I put it in my computer. No extra tracks come up and track 19 is just 3 minutes long. I honestly have no clue what it is or any way to explain this. Has this happened to anyone else? At first I thought I was just imagining it but every time I play it in my CD player it happens.
Luci_Minority Posted May 26, 2009 Posted May 26, 2009 I haven't the original cd so I don't know...but this is strange if nobody listen to that tracks
Tubbie Head Posted May 26, 2009 Posted May 26, 2009 I don't have that (physical) cd but.. wow.. that's weird and pretty cool at the same time xD
fashionvictim86 Posted May 26, 2009 Posted May 26, 2009 I don't remember it. I have both the original and reissued CDs, but I have like 10 copies of them. So I'll have to listen to them all.
Mauri Posted May 26, 2009 Posted May 26, 2009 The 2003 reissue has those acustic tracks you're talking about... but for me, thay play only as bonus material on the computer... along with some live videos and some old pics...

Velocity Posted May 26, 2009 Posted May 26, 2009 I have 3 versions of 1039/SOSH and none of them do that. Your cd must have a defect, albeit a cool one. This isn't really related, but one thing I just noticed about one of my versions though. The cd had a copyright date of 1997 and it said it was released by Lookout and Epitaph Europe. Does anyone know anything about this version?
CaseyStead Posted May 26, 2009 Posted May 26, 2009 This has happened to me before with other bands CDs. Most likely thing is that if you go to "My Computer" and right-click on the CD and select explore, it will only load the bonus content. The auto-start settings are set to run the regular WAVE audio files on the disk, which explains why it shows / plays the original 19 tracks on your computer. As for the bonus tracks playing on your CD player, that happened to me with a special edition Lostprophets CD, and I checked on my computer and the bonus videos on the CD were encoded with MP3 audio, which my CD player is capable of playing. Maybe yours is the same. It's very odd but sorta cool. Hope that might help clear some things up.I have 3 versions of 1039/SOSH and none of them do that. The cd had a copyright date of 1997 and it said it was released by Lookout and Epitaph Europe. Does anyone know anything about this version? That's simply a re-issue where Lookout gave Epitaph the distibution rights to cash in on the success Green Day were having at the time. Before then people were just buying the original vinyls from Lookout, and it was hard for them to keep up with demand.
mad hatter. Posted May 26, 2009 Posted May 26, 2009 How odd. That doesn't happen with mine, but I got mine before it was reissued.
TheBullwinkle Posted May 26, 2009 Posted May 26, 2009 I have the re-issue and the original, and neither of them do that.
zouxie Posted May 26, 2009 Author Posted May 26, 2009 Yeah. I can see the tracks if I open up the CD under My Computer. How odd that the tracks would play on the CD though. Maybe it's just because the CD player is newer and picks up on that stuff.
Sharmellow Posted May 26, 2009 Posted May 26, 2009 Thanks, I never bothered to check them. So I did and now watching the videos.
Sharmellow Posted May 27, 2009 Posted May 27, 2009 I tried it on my CD player, never worked. But on my computer it does. The pictures were neat and so were the videos. I love the acoustic versions.
Miqui_Dee Posted May 27, 2009 Posted May 27, 2009 My CD has that too when I put it in the computer (but not the CD player), it's one of the newer releases. I thought everyone knew about the videos and radio songs... weird.

Sounds like it must've somehow played them on the CD player instead, how strange! Must be a one of a kind you have there.I love that extra stuff so much. I remember when I first saw it, it was before I had the internet so it was the only live footage of Green Day I'd ever seen from pre-American Idiot times, and the only pictures from pre-Dookie times. It was heavenly
