Pan. Posted May 24, 2009 Posted May 24, 2009 Seriously, I think I cried a little after listening to 21 Guns. It didn't get to me as much as WMUWSE did, but I have to admit it is quite a sad song. How about you guys?
JohannaRaeRamone. Posted May 24, 2009 Posted May 24, 2009 I cried a bit just getting like 60 seconds in the cd, just because the fact that Green Day are still around and making honest wonderful rock 'n roll music was pretty moving, but I'm the kind of person that will cry listening to the Ramones. It's inspiring to me. :/ I think 21 Guns is going to be like the new WMUWSE, espescially when it becomes a single, although maybe not as touching, you're right.
Nimrod99 Posted May 24, 2009 Posted May 24, 2009 21 Guns got me to sniffle a little, but no real crying. Last Night on Earth got me a little emotional as well, because that's how I feel about a couple of people. I'd bend over backwards for them and love them until the day I die (and I don't mean love in a sexual way at all).
MusicalDeviant Posted May 24, 2009 Posted May 24, 2009 The very beginning to ¡Viva la Gloria! chokes me a up a little.
KnowYour_Enemy Posted May 24, 2009 Posted May 24, 2009 i gotta say that Restless Heart Syndrome and 21 Guns got to me...and i think 21 Guns hasn't exactly hit that emotional level...like WMUWSE did but..it's pretty close for me.
Trotsky Posted May 24, 2009 Posted May 24, 2009 I would have a hard time getting emotional over 21 Guns since I forsee how mainstream it's about to become :/ I guess the first part of !Viva La Gloria! is sort of emotional.Green Day were never my 'get emotional' band, they were my 'fuck it all' band for the most part.
Guest n o n a m e* Posted May 24, 2009 Posted May 24, 2009 the part in static age where he goes "all i want to do is i want to breathebatteries not included"i dunno, i just really like it
Anko Posted May 24, 2009 Posted May 24, 2009 21 Guns gives me a kind of warm feeling, it just makes me sad and sorta inspired at the same time.
Trotsky Posted May 24, 2009 Posted May 24, 2009 I've said this before, but Restless Heart Syndrome is definitely a song to OD and die to.
xVanessa86x Posted May 24, 2009 Posted May 24, 2009 the part in static age where he goes "all i want to do is i want to breathebatteries not included"i dunno, i just really like itSame here that really got to me, I would also 21 Guns and Last Night Earth made me cry a tad.
otherplans Posted May 24, 2009 Posted May 24, 2009 American eulogy did it for me. You get that bitter statement of disillusionment in "mass hysteria," that dramatic solo linking the two parts, then the defiance of "modern world.". It's like "all this may have screwed me up but fuck you," lot of emotional energy going on.
Pan. Posted May 24, 2009 Author Posted May 24, 2009 I've said this before, but Restless Heart Syndrome is definitely a song to OD and die to.You are encouraging suicide here.
depardu42 Posted May 24, 2009 Posted May 24, 2009 The beginnings of both ¡Viva la Gloria! and Before the Lobotomy make me pretty emotional, but I don't cry.Last of the American Girls does much of the same. It's more because I feel so similar to the girl described in the song.
Marc C. Posted May 24, 2009 Posted May 24, 2009 iViva la Gloria! reminds me of my ex, so it makes me kinda sad. 21 Guns makes me sad too, but I don't listen to it a lot because I don't want that effect to wear off.
Pan. Posted May 24, 2009 Author Posted May 24, 2009 21 Guns makes me sad too, but I don't listen to it a lot because I don't want that effect to wear off. This made me think...... didn't WMUWSE's effect kinda wear off on some after a while? It was so overplayed on the radio.
Sharmellow Posted May 24, 2009 Posted May 24, 2009 I felt something, but not all out emotional:¡Viva la Gloria! and Restless heart Syndrome.
forget_me_nots Posted May 24, 2009 Posted May 24, 2009 the part in static age where he goes "all i want to do is i want to breathebatteries not included"i dunno, i just really like itMe, too, and I dont know why!! The line after kills me, too...."What's the latest way a man can die screaming hallelujah?" This album has me crying all over the place: RHS, Viva La Gloria (the beginning), 21 Guns, LNOE.....whew.
Velocity Posted May 24, 2009 Posted May 24, 2009 The first time I listened to the album I was practically bawling throughout the entire first act, really just because I was still so moved at how Green Day has a new album. And then the next dozen or so times I listened to 21 Guns I was completely in tears throughout the whole song. It almost seems like the kind of song you'd commit suicide to. :/I don't get as emotional as I did then but I starting crying during iViva la Gloria! the other day just because of how beautiful that song is.
Sharmellow Posted May 24, 2009 Posted May 24, 2009 I've said this before, but Restless Heart Syndrome is definitely a song to OD and die to.That's what I was thinking.
forget_me_nots Posted May 24, 2009 Posted May 24, 2009 just because of how beautiful that song is.That's what really gets me. I'm just so *amazed* at how impossibly, inexplicably beautiful and lovely these songs are. I cant get over that.....is that weird? :/ Oh well.
greenday-rocks Posted May 24, 2009 Posted May 24, 2009 The first time i layed down in my bed and listened to the record, the first part of Before The Lobotomy got me all emotional. It still does. Mostly because of the lyrics.21 Guns also really gets to me. It kind of sucks that it's going to be all over the place soon. I mean: It's great to see Green Day be succsessfull, but I don't want the effect of that song to wear off.yeah.
Hellcat Posted May 24, 2009 Posted May 24, 2009 21st Century Breakdown- Just the whole track sums up the whole record and the lyrics. Before The Labotomy- Just how the intro is very emotional then it can go into a part of saying "im not stoned im just fucked up... then the like refugees, back into the emotional intro.really well done.
