Fuzz Posted May 23, 2009 Posted May 23, 2009 We've decided that it wasn't going to work by splitting up GD News based on what's more important, then moving things over to the News forum. It just got kinda confusing about what needs to go where. All Green Day news will be in the News forum, all general discussions about the band will remain here.

Hermione Posted May 23, 2009 Posted May 23, 2009 Well it won't make that much difference to me - having some of the news seperate was already helping a lot with not getting lost in it all so I was happy, and I have no problem going between the forums.Couldn't it kind of marginalize the interesting Green Day discussion though? I would say talking about something new and exciting like a big TV appearance is more interesting to most people than a load of one word "what's your favourite Green Day song" replies. If the not-so-big Green Day fans end up staying in the general forum they could miss the few things that actually do interest them about the band.But like I say I, it'll suit me alright.

But the alternative to that was to keep the shitty Green Day threads in their own place to get them out of the way, and I couldn't really see the value in having a forum filled with that. And splitting up the news between the two was just getting confusing. I wanna try this out at least, see if it feels better and easier to keep up with everything. Maybe this will let everyone get a better idea of how a whole split would feel and it doesn't feel like we're just jumping right in.

I felt I saw the same topic in different areas (sometimes the same thread twice, sometimes different threads). I also thought it must be really confusing for the mods to route things out, everything keeps getting shifted about. I have always wanted general chat in a different thread as I feel this would solve the problem. I have been off work this week and had a bit more time to browse than usual but even so it is so time consuming looking through all the different threads. I missed the beginning of the Zane Lowe interview because I never saw the topic till 8pm. Other times download links are taken down by the time they are discovered in all the traffic. People are also unsure where to post items.I still think it's really awful to be looking for band news and the top discussion topics are things like 'What made you smile today?' (groan...why is it so important to keep this rubbish mixed with band news? get rid of it...please!)Please take a note of what the majority want, oh and remember to count the votes in Miami! Ta.

I haven't been on much but I like it fine so far, that was just the first thought that popped in my head haha. I definitely prefer it to the idea of a full spilt anyway.It's cool to see new ideas being tried out, keep up the good work!
