Haushinkaholic Posted May 14, 2009 Posted May 14, 2009 I think I really could be alone here, I'm not a downloader, for several reasons, the main one being that I think that if I love a band enough to want to listen to their music in my home, ipod or whatever, If that band moves me so that much, I want to pay for the privilege of that joy. It's my way of saying "thanks for making a record that I love"Soooo anyway, I was in HMV yesterday and I saw the new album for £9.99 and I dunno, I just feel like I might owe them about five pounds more than that....Kinda depresses me that CD's are being sold so cheap just to compete with the digital market..maybe I've just got swine flu... i dunno.,..
Elis_x Posted May 14, 2009 Posted May 14, 2009 well, I kind of agree with you, but I download first and then, if I like it, buy a CD.. with GD it's different ofc, I buy my copy straight away..but I don't think the fact that CD costs £15 make band better or make you enjoy the music more.. I'm just saying that I think band don't want to sell CD's so expensive, cause not everyone have another £5 left to buy one..but that doesn't mean that this will make me stop buy CD's I love , just sayin' that some poeple doesn't feel it same..
farley drexel hatcher Posted May 14, 2009 Posted May 14, 2009 Give it a couple of weeks and the CD will be more like £15. CDs are always cheaper the first couple of weeks.
Minority_GD Posted May 14, 2009 Posted May 14, 2009 Or you could buy the CD twice . That would definitely suppport the band ...
Haushinkaholic Posted May 14, 2009 Author Posted May 14, 2009 yeah they had the cases up there though. They'll have a ton of the CD's sitting in the stockroom.I think I'm gonna try and get one of the limited edition mofo's with the 3 vinyls too.. So this CD is for my Ipod alone methinks.I know you can legally download tracks with Itunes and whatnot, but I still just love having the physical CD in my hands, much the same with Vinyl.I do hope CD's keep going for as long as I'm buying music.
novacaine_kid Posted May 14, 2009 Posted May 14, 2009 Bear in mind that the band will only get 2% maybe less, of any unit sold. if you wanna support the band, buy a ticket to a show or buy merch. i dont wanna give warner any more money than they already get. i will buy the album but i think 9.99 is fair enough
Astrid. Posted May 14, 2009 Posted May 14, 2009 9,99? If I want to buy the album here I have to pay about 17/18 euro that's 24dollarThe euro sucks. Too expensive with everything
RebelofSuburbia Posted May 14, 2009 Posted May 14, 2009 ^ that's not because it's euros, that's because of the dutch music market. (btw 17 isnt really that much for an album like 21CB)and I sorta get what you mean. I feel the same way about the downloading, if I like a band I prefer to buy the albums I don't even like legal downloading, the quality usually is worse than when you buy the actual cd. (for example, iTunes' songs are only 128 kb/s) I won't be complaining about any prices though.
Radioactive1 Posted May 14, 2009 Posted May 14, 2009 I never ever download, whether its legal or not I always buy CD's. I like having the physical copy in my hand. But £9.99 is more than enough for me especially when Green Day have £105 off me in gig tickets. I think I deserve to pay a tenner for the album and not £15.
saurus Posted May 14, 2009 Posted May 14, 2009 It's not like their a small new band in need of fundage. They're Green Day, they have heaps of money as it is and besides, I thought they "made music for fun" - surely the fun they've had making the album is payment enough. I sure hope so because the album certainily isn't worth a tenner.
jose armstrong Posted May 14, 2009 Posted May 14, 2009 I love how you guys are like "yeah you are retty fucked up"
Yussef Posted May 14, 2009 Posted May 14, 2009 I love how you guys are like "yeah you are retty fucked up"Harsh truth from a bunch of geeks behind a computer screen. We win.
limo1028 Posted May 14, 2009 Posted May 14, 2009 you want to support them, go see them when they come to your town, and buy the record. Most record sale money goes to the record company anyway. And Green Day doesn't need any fucking money.
Astrid. Posted May 14, 2009 Posted May 14, 2009 ^ that's not because it's euros, that's because of the dutch music market. And I buy almost always my cds in America. It's much less expensive even with shipping costs it stays far below the prices in Holland. So I thought 18 euro was much for an album
TheMinority Posted May 14, 2009 Posted May 14, 2009 Pretty weird.. it's a good thing the overprices is gone.. The record labels and artists have enough money anyways.
Trotsky Posted May 14, 2009 Posted May 14, 2009 You have swine flu. Too bad for your cause that there's one of you to 10,000 downloaders.
Fauxfink Posted May 14, 2009 Posted May 14, 2009 Don't feel bad, I feel like an asshole buying both the hard copy and the digital. I'd like to say it's to support CD's (which are essentially obsolete now) but I just want all the extra shit I can get my hands on.
