AlanJLegend Posted May 14, 2009 Posted May 14, 2009 I was thinking today,After the 21CBD world tour, before Green Day right a new album, would anybody be interested in seeing Green Day do another tour, but doing something they have not done before? A few idea's I've had are;Acoustic tour - Green Day play entirely acoustic sets, with piano (I would give and arm and leg to see Billie play piano live) and other such instruments.Backing orchestra - KISS have played a show, backed by an entire orchestra. Could this work for Green Day? If so, what songs would you want to hear in this format? It would love to hear Good Riddance, 21 Guns, Jesus of Suburbia, Whatsername and Hold on played like this.History tour - What if GD took a page out of Iron Maiden's book and did a tour, only playing songs from a specific era? Would anybody go to see them play a setlist similar to that of the Insomniac tour, maybe with a couple of Nimrod songs thrown in? I certainly would.Does anybody have any other awesome ideas that they could so?
novacaine_kid Posted May 14, 2009 Posted May 14, 2009 they should do an album residency somewhere. play all 8 albums in 8 shows. will most likely never happen but thats what i wanna see. i could die a happy man after seeing something like that
RebelofSuburbia Posted May 14, 2009 Posted May 14, 2009 That's an interesting thought. I think I like the History Tour idea the best, with a set from the Gilman days An acoustic set would also be very awesome but it'd have to be in a small, intimate venue.
novacaine_kid Posted May 14, 2009 Posted May 14, 2009 I'm suprised at the lack of acoustic shows they have done actually. Take foo fighters for example, their acoustic tour was a huge hit. A green day one could be massive. So many songs that would sound incredible acoustically.
love_billie_joe Posted May 14, 2009 Posted May 14, 2009 I actually think that the concept of playing songs from a particular era (dookie or kerplunk) would be brilliant. I am really psyched to see them this august regardless, but they have to play some of their old stuff!
.Brian Posted May 14, 2009 Posted May 14, 2009 History Tour would be awesome for me and all the others who weren't able to see them on the 'original' tours.
love_billie_joe Posted May 14, 2009 Posted May 14, 2009 then again, if it was an acoustic tour, I think it would be cool ( I would go see green day play 'twinkle twinkle little star' for god's sake!) but, in my opinion, I don't know if THAT many songs could be converted into being acoustic.Songs that could: Waiting, warning, Macy's Day Parade (most of warning), wake me up when september ends...any other songs..sorry, it's early in the morning for me and I'm a bit braindead... wait! She would be great acoustic!
novacaine_kid Posted May 14, 2009 Posted May 14, 2009 Go download the bridge school benefit show in the downloads section. some cracking acoustic songs there. when i come around is great acoustic. She would be cool as would songs like 80 and even burnout i can imagine would be pretty good
Haushinkaholic Posted May 14, 2009 Posted May 14, 2009 History Tour = Good Idea,Acoustic Tour = Not so sure of, i love acoustic music, but I don't think a lot of green day's back catalogue suits acoustic that well. Nothing off insomniac really for example, they'd have to spend a lot of time re-arranging the songs for acoustic. It could be great, or it could just be green day with the sound turned down.I'd like to see a load of "album track" shows. Just playing songs that you never really hear live, Haushinka, Coming Clean, LETTERBOMB, (Billie's fave track on A.I but it seems they never bloody play it ) obviously they could throw some of the well known ones in, but that would be cool. The singles have done their job, let the other buggers shine
Bolanic Posted May 14, 2009 Posted May 14, 2009 they should do an album residency somewhere. play all 8 albums in 8 shows. will most likely never happen but thats what i wanna see. i could die a happy man after seeing something like thatThat would be amazing! A band called Sparks did that in London last summer. They did all 21 of their albums (yes, 21), one each night, including rare B-sides and unreleased songs as the encores.

Peter. Posted May 14, 2009 Posted May 14, 2009 History tour - What if GD took a page out of Iron Maiden's book and did a tour, only playing songs from a specific era? Princess Consuela Posted May 14, 2009 Posted May 14, 2009 Acoustic tour - Green Day play entirely acoustic sets, with piano (I would give and arm and leg to see Billie play piano live) and other such instruments.they should do an album residency somewhere. play all 8 albums in 8 shows. will most likely never happen but thats what i wanna see. i could die a happy man after seeing something like thatThose two would be awesome
iLozza! Posted May 14, 2009 Posted May 14, 2009 History Tour would be awesome for me and all the others who weren't able to see them on the 'original' tours.
Katarina. Posted May 14, 2009 Posted May 14, 2009 They should do an 'album' tour, so I mean playing ALL songs from a specific album, or the ones they almost never play live, like Haushinka or Letterbomb
brekka Posted May 14, 2009 Posted May 14, 2009 i think it would be pretty amazing if they would do a tour of all their super early stuff.maybe nimrod/kerplunk/warning.YES.i guess, for me that truely defines who is a true fan..the ones that only listen to the new stuff..or the ones that listen to anything, and everything green day has ever made.
Nimrod99 Posted May 14, 2009 Posted May 14, 2009 I would like to see a tour where no singles or "regulars" are played. It would be great to see Stuart and the Avenue live again. I also hope that they shy away from doing the same setlist on tour, more variety this time around please?

I would love to hear She, but also majority of the stuff off of dookie and kerplunk that aren't already the hits. 1039 smoothed out slappy hours would be nice too.
Eirik Posted May 14, 2009 Posted May 14, 2009 A tour where they play only rarities, "album tracks", b-sides and stuff like that. And of course unreleased stuff.
Joey Posted May 14, 2009 Posted May 14, 2009 A tour where they play strange or old fashioned music as oddly named alter egos.
