deathtofalsesushi Posted May 9, 2009 Posted May 9, 2009 So according to Target's ad for next week, they will carry a special edition of 21CB which includes six unreleased songs recorded live in Japan. It's priced at $13.98. I assume those live tracks are from the American Idiot tour. I wonder if it's the same bonus CD that come with the American Idiot Japanese release, as that's also 6 songs.Sorry if it's been posted already, I couldn't get the search function to work.
Daughter.of.Rage.and.Love Posted May 9, 2009 Posted May 9, 2009 Oh god, not another special edition But thanks for posting
MusicalDeviant Posted May 9, 2009 Posted May 9, 2009 AHHHHH!!!I've already bought two fucking versions of this album!!! STOP THE MADNESS!!! Don't they know that the economy sucks right now?
Angela. Posted May 9, 2009 Posted May 9, 2009 Another special edition? I've already bought the limited edition (The 21stCB CD and 52-page bound book with artwork and lyrics) from Best Buy, so I won't be buying this. (For now, at least. I might change my mind later on. )
Green Day Luigi Posted May 9, 2009 Posted May 9, 2009 Bonus live tracks? YES! I'm so getting this one.
.Yoshi. Posted May 9, 2009 Posted May 9, 2009 AHHHHH!!!I've already bought two fucking versions of this album!!! STOP THE MADNESS!!! Don't they know that the economy sucks right now?
J'net Posted May 9, 2009 Posted May 9, 2009 AHHHHH!!!I've already bought two fucking versions of this album!!! STOP THE MADNESS!!! Don't they know that the economy sucks right now?Hahaha - I think they're trying to single-handedly revive it with one album!!!
.Holly Posted May 9, 2009 Posted May 9, 2009 wow, another special edition...dont' think I'll bother with this one, I've got Bullet in a Bible for live tracks
badwolf Posted May 9, 2009 Posted May 9, 2009 why did they price it so cheap? i mean thats good, but its brand new. shouldn't it be expensive?
permanent_insanity Posted May 9, 2009 Posted May 9, 2009 why did they price it so cheap? i mean thats good, but its brand new. shouldn't it be expensive? are you complaining about cheap music?maybe they want people to actually be able to afford it
deathtofalsesushi Posted May 10, 2009 Author Posted May 10, 2009 Honestly, between this and the Best Buy edition, I'm leaning toward Best Buy. A little more expensive, but the expanded artwork seems worth it more than 6 live tracks that are, in all likelihood, songs that we all probably have a dozen different live versions of. Now if there was a physical release that included those 4 cover songs, I'd pay up to $20 for it
MusicalDeviant Posted May 10, 2009 Posted May 10, 2009 Another special edition? Haydée Posted May 10, 2009 Posted May 10, 2009 haha I'm not spending more money.Tickets and the CD. That's it. The normal edition.
pooldude256 Posted May 10, 2009 Posted May 10, 2009 Don't they know that the economy sucks right now? That's why they are trying to suck all the money out of the economy as they can now, in case it fails more.
MusicalDeviant Posted May 10, 2009 Posted May 10, 2009 That's why they are trying to suck all the money out of the economy as they can now, in case it fails more.If they keep oversaturating the market, then it WILL fail. Why spend so much money making so much of a product when you make less product and sell it for more?
Guest Shangri-La Posted May 10, 2009 Posted May 10, 2009 Oh no. this is just ridiculous. No way am i buying four versions of the same album.ok i am.
Kate Austen Posted May 10, 2009 Posted May 10, 2009 Yeah, this is actually really shitty. I wonder if the band approves of this? This has to be a label thing. We are starting to tread "Billie Corgan" territory (he released like 20 versions of Zeitgeist).

Why spend so much money making so much of a product when you make less product and sell it for more?Unfortunately that's the world we live in. Music companies are making deals with every different store to try to get the retailer to fork over more for the "exclusive" rights to whatever they are selling. Live tracks, b-sides, bonus tracks, covers...they are always coming up with more things to try to make shit sell more.Yes it's over saturation, but you know people will buy it. When you have an album as big as American Idiot, the follow-up always has to come in a billion formats.Take U2 for example...they did like 4 different standard "packages" to sell their last album. The album may be crap, but people will buy it. Once a band hits it big, time to cash in.It's pretty clear here Green Day weren't trying to sound like AI, which is a good thing. But the record company does their own shit. Like putting a song as the first single which definitely should not have been.

Vanilla Shake Posted May 10, 2009 Posted May 10, 2009 6 bonus live songs that were unreleased? Okay, I'll get that version of the CD. I've got the iTunes deluxe edition pre-ordered, so I get four bonus songs with that. Then I get the physical copy with 6 bonus live songs for 13 bucks, when other stores will sell the normal version of the album for 20 bucks? That's a fucking bargain in my opinion. The 15th will be grand. CD, iTunes download of the album, and tickets for the New York concert. I'm set.

Green Day Luigi Posted May 10, 2009 Posted May 10, 2009 No offense but I don't really see why some of you even need to buy even two versions of the same album, let alone 3 or 4. This will be the only version of 21 CB that I'll be getting.
permanent_insanity Posted May 10, 2009 Posted May 10, 2009 I'm just buying the normal edition at the mall next Saturday, than trying to get concert tickets
