shoegazeloser Posted May 8, 2009 Posted May 8, 2009 Today, in science class, an important test grade was handed back to me. As usual, I got...D. My teacher said, "Of course, Alex. You're too busy listening to Green Day." She was so right. So, later that day, the bell rang, and I was walking toward my bus, the same teacher was standing in the hallway. She must've seen me unwinding my green iPod, because she called out to me, "Have a green day, Alex!" I don't think she knows what "having a green day" means. *coughsmokingweedcough*

Peel Slowly And See Posted May 8, 2009 Posted May 8, 2009 What the hell do you have to do to make your science teacher aware of your favorite band, let alone make him aware of the fact that listening to it is detrimental to your grade?
shoegazeloser Posted May 8, 2009 Author Posted May 8, 2009 What the hell do you have to do to make your science teacher aware of your favorite band, let alone make him aware of the fact that listening to it is detrimental to your grade?Well, for starters, I listen to Green Day. A lot. And I talk about it in class. I don't know where she got the grading comment from, though. And I once mentioned Green Day, and she said, "I took my daughter to see them. I liked GD, but the opening act was terrible! It had so much curses...it was 'Jake' something, I don't know..." "Less Than Jake?" "Yeah."
Fuzz Posted May 9, 2009 Posted May 9, 2009 I decided that I don't like talking to other people about Green Day, people who aren't really into them. Like, someone will come into to my room see the posters, and usually ask "So i guess you like Green Day huh?", and I almost always say "Yeah, what kind of stuff do you listen to?", just because I don't feel like carrying on a conversation about the band. They usually either say "I like some of their stuff" or "I'm not a huge fan", and I just feel like saying "Well, i didn't really ask for your opinion, nor do I care what you think about them, but thanks".
Jynx it up Posted May 9, 2009 Posted May 9, 2009 That's kinda funny. My science teacher hates 'em, and nirvana. Loves Metallica though.

People find out I like Green Day and they make a comment about it like, "I hate them," and I shrug and just start chatting about other things, it doesn't really bother me much, but I don't necessarily hide the fact I like Green Day. I just don't go boasting about it, though my exboyfriend has dealt with some of my fangirl episodes. XD
DeJennsitized Posted May 9, 2009 Posted May 9, 2009 I don't like talking about Green Day to anyone as well. At least not people who don't love them as much as me. It's wierd, I don't really know why. I get uncomfortable; maybe because I don't know how much the other person knows about them, like if I asked what their favourite song from Kerplunk is or whatever.
shoegazeloser Posted May 9, 2009 Author Posted May 9, 2009 People go to great lengths to flame me saying generic stuff like "Green Day sucks" and all that bullshit. If you have a problem like that, ask them what GD's first album was. I guarantee that they will say "American Idiot." Trust me, when dealing with posers, just give them the finger, laugh at them, and walk away.
Angela. Posted May 9, 2009 Posted May 9, 2009 Nice. A teacher of mine called me out on Green Day today. I was in my math class, and I had finished the required assignment on my laptop. So, I went on here. Then, my math teacher asks me what I'm doing, so I explain that I had finished my assignment, and I was killing time until the end of class. So she looks and me and says, "This is worthless. Get off of it. Otherwise, I might report you to the principal, and you'll lose your computer privileges until you graduate." (And I'm a freshman, so I'd be losing the school's computer privileges for a long time.) And I was just thinking... First of all, this site is fucking awesome. You just don't get it because you don't give a damn about this band. Second, it isn't your call as to whether or not I lose my computer privileges. It's the principal's call. And third, I'm not breaking any rules pertaining to the computer policies. I'm not checking my email, I'm not on a site like Myspace or Facebook, and I'm not looking at porn. If you want to waste your time yeling at someone, yell at the people who break all of the policies in one day, and then see if you still think I'm terrible. One time, my previous biology teacher wanted us to list 5 things we liked and disliked on a piece of paper, just so she could get to know us better. I wrote down Green Day as my top 'like'. And when we got the papers back, next to Green Day, my teacher put a comment saying something along the lines of, "I saw Green Day during the Nimrod tour. It was amazing!"

Yeah, we did stuff like that. And my history teacher would play the Ramones, and the Clash and stuff. He would always go, "So, what do you wanna listen to today? Pick something out of my itunes," to me.

My math teacher told me that she went to an Offspring concert back when they were still an independent label and they had just released Smash.
Doctor Demon Posted May 9, 2009 Posted May 9, 2009 A few of the teachers at my school like Green Day, and quite a bit of the students.Once, a boy came up to my friend and asked something about GD, and my friend pointed at me and said "Go ask her, she's the expert." Then the boy comes up and is all "Why do Green Day say random things in their songs? You know, like in She..." I have a reputation. :/ Another time, my best friend and her family were cleaning the kitchen, and she began to sing Basket Case for no reason. Within seconds, the whole family was singing it. It was quite funny, from what I heard.
DeJennsitized Posted May 9, 2009 Posted May 9, 2009 LOL, my ICT teacher loves Green Day, and got tickets to see them in Belfast too! She said once that Mike was her hero.
