AlanJLegend Posted May 7, 2009 Posted May 7, 2009 Hey guys,Obvious 21CBD is not out yet so we cannot fully speculate what songs will be played on the upcoming tour, but I would be interested to see what people think they will play.I have a really bad feeling that a lot of the older songs will be missed out. Don't get me wrong, we'll very likely hear Basket Case, Minority, Longview and other such songs, but I get the feeling that it will mainly be 21CBD and American Idiot with maybe 4 other 'classics'. As great as 21CBD will be, it goes for around 75 minutes and hopefully not all of it is played. That is my opinion anyway. And the thing I am hoping for most is that it is not the exact same setlist every single night. I understand that they have the songs from the new album and the classics that need to be played, but surely there can be a bit of variety? I know there is no point in me dreaming of hearing 'Burnout' and 'No Pride' live as it is never going to happen, but who knows.I reckon it would be awesome if they played around 20 songs, with 9 being from 21CBD, 4 being from American Idiot and the other 7 being classics. Obviously there will be the obvious ones, but even retaining this formula, hopefully they would rotate between different older songs from show to show.I can't wait until they announce Australian tour dates! I am going to make it my business to attend at least one show (more if they do a few Melbourne ones!)So what are you guys hoping to see set-list wise?
AlanJLegend Posted May 7, 2009 Author Posted May 7, 2009 They played Burnout last month. They did?Thats awesome, where?
dallasthemenace Posted May 7, 2009 Posted May 7, 2009 for me to get all the songs i want them to do live, they wouldve needed to tour shenanigans....that wouldve been the shit!i predict a lot of 21cb goodness, the AI singles, MAYBE st jimmy, and trying to touch on each older release, even if just 1 song...id like to see GD do a tour w/o any support act. they come out and play 2 90-minute sets. like they did last month....ive seen a couple bands tour like that, and it works....maybe in another 5/10 years....
Greenday_Aussie Posted May 7, 2009 Posted May 7, 2009 I was hoping for the 3 hour sets on the proper world tour. Surely they can do it. Breakdown, then the classics.
amy_runs Posted May 7, 2009 Posted May 7, 2009 Billie said he really wanted to play She during this tour
Deniz. Posted May 7, 2009 Posted May 7, 2009 I was hoping for the 3 hour sets on the proper world tour. Surely they can do it. Breakdown, then the classics.3 hours? what a dream that would be awesome.
Kryssi. Posted May 7, 2009 Posted May 7, 2009 I think it's a dead cert' that they'd play the whole of the new record from front to back. That'd be almost 2 hours I should think... then they should play at least an hour of oldies. Oh my. My dream list would be:21st Century Breakdown (as an album whole).'oldies'- When I Come Around.- Disappearing Boy.- Paper Lanterns.- Nice Guys Finish Last.- Hitchin' A Ride.- Welcome to Paradise.- Longview.- KNOWLEDGE!! They gotta still get kids up to play that one.- 80.- Geek Stink Breath.- Only of You.- Holiday.- Whatsername.- Homecoming.- The Grouch. There's many more I'd love them to play.. Heck, I'd get them to play their whole song catalogue, from front to back.
Hellcat Posted May 7, 2009 Posted May 7, 2009 i think they should do the whole new album.then...jesus of suburbiahomecomingare we the waiting st jimmyletterbombmaybe wmuwse, i dont think american idiot as in the song is relevant at the moment.then minority, misery, macys day paradeking for a day hitchen a ride good riddance, haushinkabrain stew jaded knowledge west bound signcoming clean she welcome to paradise, when i come around basket case longview, fod2000 light years away, who wrote holden... going to pasalacqua , disapearing boy, i was there.then the standard covers they have been doing these past few yearsreplacements, cheap trick, the who, queen, ramones, clash, maybe social d.wow that was massive.
Kate Austen Posted May 7, 2009 Posted May 7, 2009 I really hope they play the full album this tour. I saw Green Day 5 times last tour, IMO the front to back performance of AI at the Wiltern was by far my fav show. I know folks want to see the oldies - but they could easily play new album front to back, take an intermission, then come back and play 1 hour and 30 of oldies. I just feel like 21st Century Breakdown and American Idiot are something special. You don't get them that often in your lifetime, and I want to see them performed in full. Would totally make my life.
ferryfan Posted May 7, 2009 Posted May 7, 2009 I was hoping for the 3 hour sets on the proper world tour. Surely they can do it. Breakdown, then the classics.i know they played for a long time at the small shows last month but to expect them to play 3 hours for every date on their upcoming tour is asking too much!
.:Whatsername:. Posted May 7, 2009 Posted May 7, 2009 I don't even care. I'm still amazed and way too happy I'm even going! It will be the best night of my life is they play Christie Road (though I doubt it). I want to hear that song live (while I'm there) soooo badly.
Green Daynger25 Posted May 7, 2009 Posted May 7, 2009 I just hope they do another song than Knowledge to start a band. That or stop it all together. It can take anywhere from 7-12 minutes. Theres 4 oldies right there. All I ask is for them to play Android live.

bollard_11 Posted May 7, 2009 Posted May 7, 2009 i hope they play the entire new album and then like 10 or 12 songs from other albums dat would be sweeeeeeeet
Zalex Posted May 7, 2009 Posted May 7, 2009 In the new interview (with Comcast) Billie said that half the time they dont even go on with a setlist and kind of just go with the flow and take requests... but I'm sure they have a general basis of what they play on the main tour.
Holly Posted May 7, 2009 Posted May 7, 2009 I hope they'll play She Oooooh I really hope so too!!I'd love them to play Brat, Who Wrote Holden Caufield, actually just looking down my itunes I am going to end up with about 50 I really really want them to play, so I'll stop there.
RebelofSuburbia Posted May 7, 2009 Posted May 7, 2009 I really hope they won't play the new album all the way through. But I think they'll keep that to select shows, I remember they did it a few times during the AI tour, but not at every show. I hope they'll play around a bit with the oldies they'll do (not the excact same oldies as last tour) and I do hope that from American Idiot, they keep Holiday and St Jimmy on the list. And Basket Case is a must.
The Disappearing Boy Posted May 7, 2009 Posted May 7, 2009 im sure they said they wanted to play more old songs.
TomDB Posted May 7, 2009 Posted May 7, 2009 From what i've heard plans are to do 2 acts worth of songs from the new album with the rest of a 20ish song setlist being made up of classics which of course now includes stuff off American Idiot which seems so weird !
