Chelsea Hotel Posted May 7, 2009 Posted May 7, 2009 Let's say it's ten-fifteen years in the future and Reprise has decided to remaster/reissue American Idiot. They'll be including, on the edition, all the tracks that were intended for the original release but were left off:Favorite SonGovernatorToo Much Too SoonShoplifterWhich option would you prefer?:1. The tracks are inserted into their "correct" position in the story of the album; "Too Much Too Soon" goes between "Extraordinary Girl" and "Letterbomb" (I think), "Shoplifter" goes between "St. Jimmy" and "Give Me Novocaine," and so on;2. The tracks are collected and stuck on the end of the album after "Whatsername";3. The album is reissued as a two-disc, the first disc being the album with no changes and the second disc being a b-sides and rarities collection. Just for the sake of arguement, which would you rather see? And why?
xBasKetxCaSex Posted May 7, 2009 Posted May 7, 2009 I wouldn't care.I wouldn't buy it unless something happened to the disc I have and the files I have.
thenextsexpistol_mak Posted May 7, 2009 Posted May 7, 2009 I wouldn't care.I wouldn't buy it unless something happened to the disc I have and the files I have.the same here
Kate Austen Posted May 7, 2009 Posted May 7, 2009 Leave the tracks off the original disc. IMO they made the right decision by taking them off.
amy_runs Posted May 7, 2009 Posted May 7, 2009 Leave the tracks off the original disc. IMO they made the right decision by taking them off.I agree
dallasthemenace Posted May 7, 2009 Posted May 7, 2009 there wont be any cd's by the time this would happen....but i think it should have interactive capability, similar to a dvd, which would let you choose to hear the original album, OR to hear the album with the other tracks wedged into the tracklist....it should have exclusive art, the entire biba concerts, and a bonus "disc" of songs that were recorded and never released...
diylobotomy Posted May 7, 2009 Posted May 7, 2009 first choice definitely.I think the reinsertion of the b-sides would change the story a little, maybe even strengthen it. and that would be awesome.just keeping them separate would defeat the purpose of re-releasing them with the album. well, at least that's what I think.
MrGreenDayUK Posted May 7, 2009 Posted May 7, 2009 If they were going to be that anal about it, I wouldn't buy it.
DeJennsitized Posted May 7, 2009 Posted May 7, 2009 Well, seeing as it's a hypothetical question, I would choose the first option, having all the b-sides included in order on the tracklist. I have the American Idiot CD already, why the hell would I want the exact same thing with a bonus disc of 4 songs? But yeah, I think it would be interesting listening to the whole thing in order, b-sides included.
Ally Posted May 7, 2009 Posted May 7, 2009 thats only like the deluxe edition of american idiot so and there on the end of the album and thats how i would leave itI can't see the purpose of this thread...me either really...
Rita Posted May 7, 2009 Posted May 7, 2009 The first option because that would be cool and different.
IscoredWaddlesgoals Posted May 7, 2009 Posted May 7, 2009 I've got a Green Day Spotify playlist and I just stuck them on the end. Doesn't really make it sound much different, like one album and then the songs. I don't think there'd be much point re-issuing it when you can do things like this yourself.
Green Daynger25 Posted May 7, 2009 Posted May 7, 2009 I wouldn't buy it even if it was 3 bucks. Everyone already has the songs so they can do with it as they please. I have my own American Idiot set up and it's different from original not just because of the B-Sides I stuck in there.
ferryfan Posted May 7, 2009 Posted May 7, 2009 Leave the tracks off the original disc. IMO they made the right decision by taking them off.i disagree. i think these songs should have been put on the original release. it is a great album and these tracks would definately have improved it.
Daughter.of.Rage.and.Love Posted May 7, 2009 Posted May 7, 2009 I'd choose the first option, but I really doubt I'd buy it, I already have all the songs anyway and if I want the B-sides included on their 'right' places, I can make a playlist, and burn it on a cd if I for some reason wanted that on a disc too.But actually, Too Much Too Soon is the only one I would like included on the album, the rest is too much b-side-like in my mind, don't know why. I can imagine Governator being on it too, but I like it better left off. But I wouldn't make that playlist anyway, the songs are b-side for a reason.Edit: Oh, I change it into 3, I didn't read the 'rarities collection' part
Welshy Posted May 7, 2009 Posted May 7, 2009 If the third option included any new tracks like the song used in Heart Like a Hand Grenade then defiantly.
Nele Posted May 7, 2009 Posted May 7, 2009 I hate the Governator and I shall never pay for it. don't say that. But to be honest this thread is useless.
fashionvictim86 Posted May 7, 2009 Posted May 7, 2009 3. The album is reissued as a two-disc, the first disc being the album with no changes and the second disc being a b-sides and rarities collection. On a side note, I LOVE Too Much Too Soon. One of my favorite Green Day songs ever.
Daughter.of.Rage.and.Love Posted May 7, 2009 Posted May 7, 2009 On a side note, I LOVE Too Much Too Soon. One of my favorite Green Day songs ever.Oh I love that song too
Eirik Posted May 7, 2009 Posted May 7, 2009 Well, due to iTunes I can already alternate between these as much as I want already.
