CaseyStead Posted May 7, 2009 Posted May 7, 2009 From www.greenday.com"05-06 - SECOND SUPPORTING ACT CONFIRMED Green Day are proud to announce their second supporting act on their upcoming US tour will be FRANZ FERDINAND. Franz Ferdinand will hit the road with Green Day from August 8th - August 26th."I think this is a much better supporting act than Keiser Cheifs. Franz Ferdinand are the band that got me into any sort of rock music, and I've never seen them live and would love to see them supporting Green Day! If I'm lucky they may support them for the UK dates too... but that's unlikely. Fingers crossed though!Edit: Someone posted the same topic mine was a minute earlier, but the other one has responses, so feel free to close this
mplsloseroftheyear Posted May 7, 2009 Posted May 7, 2009 according to greenday.com they are the opening band for the second part of the tour. thats gonna be rad!
Angela. Posted May 7, 2009 Posted May 7, 2009 Interesting. It's from Aug. 8th - Aug. 26th, so it looks like I won't be seeing FF at the show I'm going to.
thenextsexpistol_mak Posted May 7, 2009 Posted May 7, 2009 franz ferdinand?green day is way to good for a band like ff
clusterbomb Posted May 7, 2009 Posted May 7, 2009 fucks sake i hope the uk supports arent as bad as the american 1s
deadair Posted May 7, 2009 Posted May 7, 2009 Are they having any opener for the July 13 Chicago show? Because I don't think the Kaiser Chiefs start till later? Aw man, I LOVE Franz Ferdinand (not as much as Green Day though). Wish they'd open for GD on the American tour
captain peroxide Posted May 7, 2009 Posted May 7, 2009 Very big of you to ask for yours to be closed You get cool points. As for the news...................meh. I neither like nor especially dislike FF.

woahinez Posted May 7, 2009 Posted May 7, 2009 and just the other day i was thinking of this possibility and how it would sucki'd rather see the kaiser chiefs
Kryssi. Posted May 7, 2009 Posted May 7, 2009 Yeah, I hope Green Day's support acts aren't shite... I mean, the ones at the MK Bowl took the piss... Hard-Fi were the biggest pile of piss ever.
Juan Posted May 7, 2009 Posted May 7, 2009 Franz Ferdinand are pimpin', I like them. I had Ulysses stuck in my head a couple of weeks ago
farley drexel hatcher Posted May 7, 2009 Posted May 7, 2009 I don't mind Franz Ferdinand or Kaiser Cheifs. I wonder when we'll find out the UK supports?
Trina Posted May 7, 2009 Posted May 7, 2009 Mmm, FF are a pretty good band...especially for music nowadays.I woulda liked if they were the openers for the European shows, but eh. Whatever. And damn, they are faaar better than Kaiser Chiefs.I don't mind Franz Ferdinand or Kaiser Cheifs. I wonder when we'll find out the UK supports?Hopefully soon. I'm fairly curious.
tq6993 Posted May 7, 2009 Posted May 7, 2009 oh HELL YEAH! a band that i actually lke is opening for Green Day
NGDP Posted May 7, 2009 Posted May 7, 2009 WHY WON'T THEY ANNOUNCE THE SUPPORTING ACT FOR JULY4TH???? That's all I want. >_>
Juan Posted May 7, 2009 Posted May 7, 2009 when you guys say FF, it reminds me of the Foo Fighters and it gives me a little boner, so Stop!
CaseyStead Posted May 7, 2009 Author Posted May 7, 2009 British Invasion was a strong influence on 21st Century Breakdown, and the support acts chosen are the closest thing us Brits have in the charts today, which is a shame really :/ but hey, I like Franz. They're very unique, and led the way for some good British indie music. And some very shit indie...
Hermione Posted May 7, 2009 Posted May 7, 2009 Yeah, I hope Green Day's support acts aren't shite... I mean, the ones at the MK Bowl took the piss... Hard-Fi were the biggest pile of piss ever.Hard-Fi?! Fucking hell. I wouldn't mind Kaisers or Franz Ferdinand tbh, I'm not a fan of either but they're still better than all the rubbish that supported them on the AI tour put together.
NGDP Posted May 7, 2009 Posted May 7, 2009 Is there a chance that there will be no supporting act for the first part of the tour?
Supermodel*Robot Posted May 7, 2009 Posted May 7, 2009 Is there a chance that there will be no supporting act for the first part of the tour?they seem to be neglecting us in the news department. I don't know why. Haha
